Hey guys! I know that you've all have been waiting for this series from the teaser video! As I've mentioned, this is a series I've been preparing for in the last few months--TRABAHO. 🇵🇭🇰🇷
Though there is no clear history, sari-sari stores were believed to have started back during the Spanish period or when the Philippines-Chinese trade began. Even so, sari-sari stores were an integral part of the Filipino culture and economy and will continue to be so.
Sari-sari stores are everywhere in the country, in rural and urban areas, and provide Filipino families a source of income for their daily needs. It’s a staple in every neighborhood. “Sari” translates to “variety” and so if you need a household good quickly, just walk a few houses down and you can buy whatever you need at a sari-sari store. It was also where the titas talk about the latest news or the titos would hang out, or where the children come to rest after playing. Sari-sari stores, in many ways, represented a sense of community.
In the first episode I try to be a SARI SARI store TINDERA for a day. Check out the episode to see what I have to share with you guys. 🙌 I really hope you guys enjoy it.
