Learning that your kitten is not sleeping but hiding. Just like when her mother is away, kittens will hid until mom is back and all is safe. Her running after you is the same thing as following her mother around. When you put your hand down to play with kitten, she is doing the same action of giving you kisses and tasting you again. When she offers her belly to you, it is not to play, just her way of saying, thank you. So much is going on here, that kitten wants you to know. Take some time and watch and listen. Remember Cats only meow around humans of their mothers. Or Dads.

I can't say i'm knowledgable about cats,but i can understand how horrible it is not understanding someone-you could hear a cat meowing and think 'oh,they're happy',but in reality it means something else,that's one of the scariest things to think about,so i appreciate someone pointing these things out,thanks for the info you're giving to all of us!

We fostered kittens for years. It was a big problem where we lived. One set of kittens were already 6 weeks old when they came to us, so they didn't sleep in the carrier or any of the places we prepared for them at night. They just played til they crashed somewhere cozy - under the sofa, in the pillows on the chair, those kids of places. In the morning, I didn't go looking for them. I just got their food and sat down and asked "where's the babies?" and there'd come 4 little mews and shortly after, four little kittens ready for breakfast and cuddles and playtime.

Every scratch that baby gets is proof she is loved. Every scratch you get is proof she loves you (until she's bigger and knows what her claws are all about). I started harness training my cat about when he was 12 weeks old. It's more than 10 years later and we go for 2 or more walks daily. If you do that, be aware of everything that could distract her or threaten her and stay behind her on the walks, let her lead you. Your job is to be her protector, not director. Keep your head on a swivel.

A kitten this young needs a constant presense to keep them safe and secure. Ideally they'd be living with their mother still but since that isn't the case, I really suggest leaving her with a friend who can take care of her while you're at work. A baby like this will be extremely stressed out being left alone. Even just for a few hours. Kittens are very dependent on protection from their parents. My little lady needed me to be there for her 24/7 and she was already around five months old. Give them the security they need for the first months in their life, it will heavily affect the cats behaviour later down the line.

Dry food is not good for cats anyway and cats get their hydration from wet food mostly. I love this sweet baby! Please please make sure she has formula and wet food! Baby kittens need to eat every 2-3 hours at her age.
