Thank you for sharing the history regarding the Greeks in Smyrna. My grandparents were Greeks that grew up in Smyrna, and they managed to leave there a few years before the city was destroyed. Unfortunately, I don’t know what happened to their families, if they were still there at the time of the fall.

I went to Izmir month ago but only visited konak tower and Ephesus in Selcuk. Fortunately dont have time to visit the fortress in Selcuk😢. We stayed at New Zeybek Hotel in downtown Izmir. Love Izmir..people were friendly and helpfull. Love from Indonesia
