i’ve been a faithful smosh viewer since i was a kid and people really don’t appreciate ian enough for how all he did for smosh in the “between years”. when defy shut down they were given no notice and ian was essentially left with around 40 employees to support and no office, resources, or paychecks to hand out. smosh as a channel and a brand has been thriving since they switched over to mythical and a lot of the reason they were able to stay alive is because of ian’s competence as a ceo.

I never liked Fred but watched Quinton Reviews mahoosive video on it and it made me appreciate it more and see what the creator (Lucas) was about. I'm glad I watched it because as a kid, I wasn't so good at separating a character from the actor 😅

Jenna's apology is by far the most genuine, she didn't get cancelled and ran away or gave some bullshit response. She owned up to mistakes that were barely getting traction and that she easily could have just ignored because of how old they were, but she showed the videos, addressed what was wrong with them and didn't try to deflect the blame, she *chose* to leave when nobody was trying to run her off the internet because she actually felt bad about her past and actually felt bad for hurting people.

ppl saying she was overreacting and how she made it a big issue when she wasn't really getting any major backlash from it don't seem to understand that those factors don't really matter. what matters is Jenna knows her words and actions from the past could have deeply hurt people, even if that demographic is small. she did what many controversial content creators/influencers are unable to do, and that is take accountability. it speaks volumes about her character that she would choose to exit the platform instead of brush everything under the rug and continue making huge profit from being an internet personality. people call her stupid or foolish but I think what she did was extremely admirable.

This video really hit me hard. Bashurverse and SkyDoesMinecraft were a big part of my childhood, especially during my Minecraft era where I played a lot of PvP and learned english by finding KZbinrs that did english content for topics that I was interested in. I knew about Bashurverse's controversy and when it first released, I watched the breakdown video. But I never knew he passed away. I'm glad for all the good times I experienced with these two and I'll always cherish them, despite what Bashur did, since I didn't know any better back then. May he rest in peace.

No, a lot of them realized youtube might have been a fad (and to a small extent, it was) and knew Hollywood was a better bet. RWJ and Fred both went that route. Even Smosh put emphasis on their own website over the years instead of youtube because either one copyright strike or a new competitor website (Vine or Tik Tok if it came a decade earlier) could have ended their careers overnight.

out of this whole list: Ryan, Lily and Smosh were my entire childhood (especially Ryan). Ryan: I remember getting so excited to see a new upload from him. Even on his 2nd channel: HigaTV- i watched EVERY video (I dare you and Parkour videos were my favorite). I hope he is happy and sometimes I watch his streams, i’m glad he’s doing what he likes Lily: i stopped watching her around the time she moved to LA and i’m so happy she’s making big moves still. After watching her interview with Anthony Padilla, it made me so sad to know how screwed over she got from her show. Smosh: I’m glad Anthony and Ian own their channel again. I still watch smosh and their other channels lol (Smosh pit and Smosh games are the other ones I watch a lot) Also, Ray is definitely one of my favorite content creators now. But, when i found his tiktok, i didn’t realize he made a song that was so nostalgic for me. my middle school bestfriend and I became friends over the “Booty Store Song” in spanish class💀. i hope she’s doing good somewhere

I love Lucas Cruikshank and have been watching him ever since 2012. One correction to your statement he didn’t try to revive Fred, he didn’t it as closure. Plus he admittedly loved to ‘traumatize’ his fans by messing up Fred and making him even more flamboyant lol. He has closed the Fred door long ago, pretty sure Nickelodeon gave him a shat deal
