@GoldenPotato my great grandad was trapped behind a gate and he managed to grab the ankle of a worker. He only let go when they had opened the gate. So he saved the lives of many. Only thing is his arm got stuck in the gate so it had to be pulled out. It was broken when they got it out the gate. So badly broken it was amputated. So he risked his hand to save loads of people. 7 others were behind the gate and 3 of them died. 1 was stuck behind another gate, 1 was crushed underneath a smokestack and the final person was in the lift which broke and plummented down. Also my great great uncle was in the dining room when it sunk. He didn't know it was sinking until he was trapped in the 3rd class diner. 2 of his friends were in the sinking and they got into a lifeboat. There lifeboat was never found. Also my other great grandad wieghed about 4.8 stone. He couldn't make it so his friend has to piggyback him across the deck to the stern. I think thats where i got my size from. Cuz I'm 12, i weigh 4.1 stone and I'm 1.41 metres tall

Fun fact: 4 days after the Titanic went down a german ship pass in the same place it sunk. When they were passing, the witnesses later said, that the bodies where still visible floating in the water. The captain originally wanted to save some corpses from the water, but as the crew members were preparing he backed down because his ship, Like the Titanic, was carrying civilians.
@TXnine7nine
@TXnine7nine 4 жыл бұрын
Yup. Only a tiny fraction of the bodies were found and recovered by the Mackay Bennett and unfortunately it was based on passenger class. The recovery ship only carried a small number of coffins and ice for embalming. First class passengers who could be identified were the ones with priority. They recovered a large number of steerage class passenger but after a quick recording of the body and as much demographic information as they could they reburied the bodies at sea rather than take them back to shore due to their limited space and supplies.

Actually two missions have successfully taken place where they've seen the wreckage. But not sure if they've explored it completely. The whole thing about shoes and jackets is true. They do float there. But that exploration didn't take place in a scuba suit but in a vehicle specifically made for deep-sea diving.

Like so many others, I have been fascinated by the Titanic story but this very interesting and well-thought-out mini-documentary answered a lot of questions. I had no idea Halifax had done so much to respect the lost and forgotten. The immorality of the White Star Line Co was atrocious! At least many received a decent burial. Horrible tragedy that should not have happened! Thank you for sharing this with us.

It wasn’t really the shortage of lifeboats so much as the shortage of time the crew had to launch them. Only 18 of the 20 lifeboats were launched before the sinking, so more lifeboats probably wouldn’t have made a difference in the amount of lives lost. And at the time lifeboats were mainly used to ferry passengers to a nearby rescue ship. Captain Smith was not trying to “break records”. The Olympic-class liners were built for luxury, not speed, Titanic had a designed service speed of 21.5 knots. Whilst the Lusitania and Mauritania were 24 knots, with a maximum of 28 knots. Also, it is impossible for any human remains to remain at that depth. The amount of atmospheric pressure will have turned their skeletons into sediment within 5 years maximum. It’s the same reason that scuba divers cannot go down there. The world’s deepest scuba dive was 1,752ft and even then that was with very specialised equipment.

Don't you two know how fluid pressure works?? The body is mostly water. Water is not compressible. When the lungs filled with water, the other small air cavities would've been compressed with minute amounts of tissue, blood or water moving into those areas but it would've been microscopic. They would've have been 'crushed' and absolutely wouldn't have 'exploded'. Those bodies would've had the lungs fill with water, sink to the bottom and slowly decay or have been munched on by the bottom dwellers. Learn basic science..

Let's see... Much as the pronunciations of the Cunard ship names is utterly cringeworthy, I'll leave it in favor of correcting the disgusting lack of research. 1) No, the steel was of the same grade and quality as was standard for the time period. The only areas that could be even remotely called 'lower grade' would be in the regions where the hull was highly curved, and that was because they couldn't use the hydraulic riveters and had to rely totally on manpower. And even those rivets and plates were well within standards of the age. The rivets broke, yes, but we ARE talking about a 50k ton object hitting a multi-million ton object at city street speeds. NOTHING is going passed that unscathed. 2) Binoculars would have changed nothing. The lookouts only used them to ID objects after spotting them. Binoculars would have destroyed their peripheral vision, making it LESS likely that they would have seen something. 3) Captain Smith's speed was not unusual for an ocean liner of the time. It was usual to only slow down if weather conditions such as fog or storm made it unsafe. And even if that wasn't the case, Titanic was not meant for any sort of speed records. White Star had pulled out of that competition decades prior. 4) So, when Carpathia tosses the dead back into the sea with a service due to not having the facilities to care for them until arriving on shore, it's burial at sea, but when it happens to Mackay-Bennet, it's Classism? As your writing team managed to get right, bodies recovered were tagged and identifying features recorded. But as space became a premium, it was decided to prioritize victims likely to have family on shore that were likely to be able to afford a funeral on land. Which meant that confirmed or suspected Third Class victims were not likely to be able to do so. 5) For one thing, not ALL third class/unidentified bodies were denied being buried on land. A quick google of Fairview Cemetary in Halifax shows plenty of graves of Third Class or Unidentified victims. And for another - They WERE NOT "tossed back into the sea," as your lazy writing and research team claims. There were properly buried at sea. A few minutes in google would again show you one such ceremony, with a reverend presiding over the funeral. If you are going to provide an informative account, you have a responsibility to make sure that it is accurate. Next time, look for information OTHER than what you find in a clickbait site. Wikipedia is more reliable than that.

THANK YOU!!!! This video is almost unwatchable with all the inaccuracies. I honestly haven’t done much research on the titanic but this video blatantly presents myths as if they are facts.

Best comment here. And thanks for alluding to the pronunciation question, which stopped me short completely in the first minute. This is actually the first time I have heard "Lusitania" mispronounced, let alone in such a weird way. It's practically phonetic as it is. How does anyone get it that wrong?

Have you noticed the many errors in the animation? They show the sinking several times and keep changing it.

Why did the narrator mispronounce the names of the Lusitania AND the Carpathia?

Scott Ronsmans I know. I caught that too. Kinda' sad! Those are some pretty simple pronunciations of some pretty well known, historically important ships! You'd think if you were making a video for the whole world to watch, you'd at least research some proper pronunciation. I hear this ALL THE TIME!! I don't get it!!

Actually the only ship name that he got right was Titanic. EVERY other one was mispronounced. Some worse than others. Possibly because he heard about the movie and remembered how to say it. Maybe there should be a rule that one must pass the fifth grade in order to be a narrator on one of these videos. That, of course would mean one less job for the mentally challenged.

Well that movie is mostly lies, and it was not a love strong, it was a horror story you idiot! 1500 people died on that ship, but because of that movie, now the most famous part of it is something that doesn’t even exist!
