Sometimes you dont want to hear the truth because you've lived with your version of the truth for so long, you've accepted it as reality. So once the real truth comes out, you dont wanna believe that you've been so wrong for so long. It's not Dutch fault though cause that part of the business wasnt his expertise. But in the end, knowledge is power no matter what you do in life.

Imagine going to work for years under a contract. Your work has changed and put the company in a surplus; and you never get paid. Even all the start up money they used on you was nothing compared to the money they made off you is not debt, it's pure laziness to not acknowledge the work put in. If you were told to go make subs for an event and you subcontracted with a major sandwich company and your sandwiches made a bunch of money, yet the company that hired yall to work kept changing up top, they still owe you no matter how you look at it, if the one that got you the contract kept your money then you go after them simple.
@jman1562001
@jman1562001 2 жыл бұрын
That's assuming you were in the green before you sold anything. See they could have been in debt and someone has to pay that debt that has incurred. In the record contract, that was not technically all un Rivera 64 million. So the label which has multi millions did not believe in investing in their project. So they write off thar previous debt and get a fraction of the money back and let the artist walk. Getting royalties for those few records was for fulfilling their contractual obligation thru un, not the label

The way the dude with the black hat just broke the way the major labels conduct business will probably be the most important breakdown you’ll hear throughout the whole interview drops. That ish was crazy hearing it. I had to go back and listen again to fully understand. Artist out hear never capture the gems. Go understand what that man just said and learn not only the music business but just business in general. You know the old saying “you never pay for what you know, you only pay for what you don’t know. Learn the business first. Before I go do anything I do my research. I don’t sign contracts unless I know that contract like I wrote it myself. Most artist complain and argue about contracts that has their signature on it bc they don’t understand the business but if you’d ask them if they were those same major companies would they do the same. They all would say yes! Bc it’s all business.

Best answer ever OK! If you know what you are talking about. No need to argue or yell. State the facts and if they keep going on. Hit them with OK and leave it alone. Don't waste your time.

🤔💲64 mil is ALOT of money, Problem was MF'ers were crazy to pay directors for 1/2 to 1 MiL for freakin' Music Video budgets and other expenditures ..(If Percey "Master P " Miller had 64 Mil --- THE NARRATIVE WOULD HAV BEEN DIFFERENT)

Underrated comment. 64 mill is a lot of money, accepting overpriced services doesn't make it less money.

3:05: "studio time; producers; verses; beats; expensive-as-hell video shoots"; 4:02: "every day, you're spending money" (all of the artists are spending the company's money, both through spending their advances, *and* constantly drawing money from petty cash); 5:11: "the overheads kept switching - Un would do some 'smart' shit, like, go over here, get an overhead; we out of here; go over there, get an overhead; we out of here; 8:03: "You said Un went over & kept getting more $, more $, more $; *that accrues*; so when you finally get your deal with a major label, somebody has to assume that money, it doesn't just go away." 8:40: "I'm gonna assume all this debt, & I'm gonna write it off [writing off the debt lowers their yearly revenue, **which lowers their tax bill for next year**] 8:51: "This is gonna look better on my books to write off this 5 million dollars [years of stipends for 4-5 artists & staff from discretionary fund, interest on loans, business debt, IP carryovers, etc]." 9:23: "If I keep moving you, & keep putting a couple of dollars in your pocket, you'll be thinking, 'I got a chance, I got a chance' ". "Meanwhile, you're becoming a write-off & don't even know it." 9:48: "The overheads we were getting, & the money we were getting, had nothing to do with entertainment."😑🤨😒🙄 10:00: "*YOU* thought." 12:31: "Un did a lot of business that was just out of the ordinary.." 12:57: "I don't know nothing past that."

Dutch need to listen. Fam is trying to school bro and he don't want to hear it. Brothers, if you don't have a strong control of your emotions, the business side of things aint for you. There's no feelings in business. I feel him, but he's only talking about the art and not the business.
