Tactical Bassin' is no doubt one of the best channels for bass. So informative. Numerous times, I have gone out fishing and applied what I've learned from these guys and have had much better success. No surprise tho, these guys know their stuff and I'm super thankful for their willingness to share what they know.

I’ve got three ponds in my neighborhood that have three types of fish. The smallest had nice Bass of all sizes. The 2nd has smaller Bass and way to many carp. The third and biggest and deepest pond has Bass, Very large catfish, and crappie. All have been tough lately. Now I know where to go on each pond with this video info. Come on weekend!!

A new winter pattern I’ve just heard from a successful tournament fisherman in a deep/clear lake in Oklahoma. He fished stumps 6ft or less with a 1oz jig and strokes it. The idea is that some big bass will be there; and he knows they’ll be against the stump; and he can get them to react with a super heavy jig on the fall or snapping it back up. One cast per stump and he just hits as many stumps as he can in a day. Interesting pattern and technique.

Hey Matt, this is great, this happened to us this weekend on the Cumberland River in Kentucky below Wolfcreek dam. The fish we caught we’re definitely not in the current but on the sides in very deep pools that we were trying to catch trout and we ended up catching our biggest smallmouth ever! That also goes for the walleye we caught!

Im usually stuck this time of year as my "home water" is technically a river but it typically has such a slow flow that it fishes more like a wind blown pond. The biggest issue is that the best cover is across the river beyond casting range and shore access from that side is private property. Luckily I recently started throwing the S-waver and Im starting to get followed back to the bank.

Great breakdown for fishing different styles of water! Here in Florida on the St. John’s River is a little different though. Down here in the river, all year round whether it’s summer winter spring or fall, it’s always the same bite. Down here all year long is either a drop shot, a one knocker rattle trap, or a Carolina rig. All year long those styles will produce and the structure is a bit different from up where y’all are. It’s all shell bar fishing in the current. Getting down and throwing the back sides of the channel or on the step edges of points. All year long here that will produce and you will still catch giant bags of fish. The average bag to come off of a shell bar year round is a 20-25 pound bag!

So just to add to the pond location for bass...I think it’s important to understand the “why” of where these fish are. It was explained to me like this, bass usually want to be in the warmest water that’s comfortable for them, so in the summer, they’ll be up shallow because the water is a little warmer due to ambient and IR temp (from the sun), but in the winter, the deeper water is usually warmer because it’s not as susceptible to temp changes due to outside conditions.

Hey Matt, i know you guys always talk about braid to leader. I do use that. In the past i always tied uni knots for the connection knot . The only draw back was that it was a little thick and snag on the rod guides as it went through. Recently i learned about the fg knot. Liked how thin it was and supposedly the stongest knot for braid to leader. I definitly liked that. Just wondering if you knew about this knot and your thoughts on it. If you like it maybe you guys can do an instructional video on it as there are alreasy many how to tie this knot on youtube and it gets confusing
@HookLife5 жыл бұрын
David Kelley Matt uses a 9 loop blood knot. It’s a great knot and travels through guides well. They have a few videos on it in their library.
@Mjones83835 жыл бұрын
They know but they recommend the blood knot because it's easier and faster to tie, also it's plenty strong for any size bass. Remember bass aren't hard fighters compared to other species
@lucasteneyck85775 жыл бұрын
@@Mjones8383 maybe largemouth but pound for pound small mouths fight hard
@HookLife5 жыл бұрын
M Jones I think when bass fishing braid to leader the line takes a pretty significant shock in certain instances. I use that knot when fishing a hollow body frog or flipping wrenching pigs out of heavy cover and it has held up great. Granted there are other knots that are stronger. Whatever works for you. 🤜🏼🤛🏼

Maybe you guys can go over how to read the depth finder in real detail seems to be very important in the colder months to be able to find your fish and find out how the depth finder and what angles it shoots under the boat so you can really detect where your fish are when you are in the boat. I seem to have a little problem with that myself. Of course my depth finder is just your basic it's not a Upperline type but maybe you can kind of cover the basic depth finder and the better depth finder
