Where Do We Start…. The beginning of the new chapter.

Today we set to clearing up our property in preparation of the up coming renovations.
Also we have a personal message from Dan and Sindy from simple life Portugal.
As some of you may know Sindy is going through a tough time dealing cancer.

Your Mom is so sweet. It is true, the older you get the more medicine you take. It can be hard to decide what to do next. Throw darts at a list may help. Maybe next season pour vinegar over the weed seedlings to keep them from growing.

I can imagine the difficulty in redirecting yourselves after all that time on the village house. Now to face the things you had to let go in the meantime must be daunting, like where to begin. One step at a time I reckon. I make priority lists and just keep checking them off. What I didn't get done today will be there tomorrow 😁. Good to have you back ! A lil tip from a plumber, use putty instead of that white round gasket for sealing that sink strainer to you vessel! As you tighten the top and bottom parts of that white flex drain pipe to your vessel, what you're actually doing is sandwichin the putty till it squeezes out some. kinda like peanut butter between two slices of bread and as you squeeze the bread out oozes the peanut butter! Tip of the day .

Thank you! Great tip, but putty and Portugal don’t mix. I’ve more chances of finding a 4 leaf clover. Fortunately the rubber seal under the sink is much bigger than the hole so that should be sufficient to stop it from leaking. Thanks for the comment. 😎💪👍🏼

As someone who's dealt with serious back problems for almost 40 years, you may try getting a Cold Clay Pack and put it on your low back at the end of everyday and also when ever you take a break. Hope it helps you too.

Hi James and Christina, sheep! Ask your nearest owner to get them to eat all the grass and hopefully they like "weeds" as well! Those entrance wall sure will look good with a whitewash! What tree is that next to gate? The mean thorn that pricked you, Christina is the Yucca plant. Best to cut off all the thorn tips before transplanting to a safe corner away from children playing. They spread and the enormous plant rewards with a tall stem of off white tulip shape flowers! We used them, back in the day for wired up bridal bouquets. Nice to see you both again, and super workshop there as well. Feeling tired, after watching the French/ Springbok rugby clash last evening. Those guys must be very sore today! Another perfect day in beautiful Cape Town.🇿🇦🏉💛

It looks as though your plan to give the place a clean and tidy is right it will help your morale, and nothing is worse than doing a big project when all around you is a mess. A few hours a month will probably be enough to keep the land tidy. Trimming to scrub around borders and trees will help the look. Once the tidy is done Turn one of the sheds into a workshop, and store, just do a basic job. Then convert the big farm shed to your home before you do up the house for rental. That way you will have decent living conditions while converting the other building. Given the great job you did at the village house, you will do well. Looking at everything you want to do is daunting probably, but going by the old adage of step-by-step is the way.

Ive been thinking...( while cooking) at your farm gate entrance, that empty stretch of ground...throw down strong used builders plastic and buy enough bags of gravel, like you used in the reno village house. Perhaps a jar type terracotta or paint a pot to match the colour you will paint the gate? Also easy to water succulent in pot, eg Aloe? Under the lovely feature tree, prep ground with a few bags of pot soil and compost and plant agapanthus. Wont take much watering with a bucket in Summer, and now is the time to plant. Rich dark leaves and white / blue flowers to reward you. Think about it!😊💐💚

Hello again! 🌱 Your idea about the farm gate entrance is brilliant! Using strong builders plastic and gravel is a fantastic way to make it both sturdy and visually appealing. I love the suggestion of a terracotta pot or a painted one to match the gate - such a creative touch! And Aloe plants are a great choice; they're hardy and look fantastic. It does not take long for things to get a bit out of order around the property. Well you two have certainly made a good start of getting things back in order and tidied up. My understanding is that you need to pull/brake the new shoots at the base of the Olive trees. if you cut them they grow right back. For the life of me I cannot understand the love you have for those Yuca plants/trees. A friend of my brother´s whilst playing had his eye pierce by one and lost sight in that eye. I have been stabbed by them and got rid of mine at soon as possible. Have you finished the painting in the kitchen? would love to see it.
