When I was trying to get a movie about motocross made that would air on a major cable channel, there were a ton of hoops I had to jump through to make it happen. What I took away from that experience is that there is a complete and total lack of understanding as to what the sport actually is. To combat this, I remember taking every executive at the company who would come, to races at Anaheim and even Vegas, so that they could see it in person. That's when things turned around. When they all understood that it was a sport akin to the Tour de France in athleticism, they were on board. Among the uneducated, to this day, MX and primarily SX are thought of as being similar to monster trucks or freestyle MX, where it's a bunch of dudes riding around jumping these huge jumps and crashing and all that. Having worked in media for 30 years and been a fan since the coliseum days in L.A., I truly believe that it will take some sort of documentary series similar to the Formula One show on Netflix to get this thing kick started (so to speak). We have incredible technology now to present the sport as it really is and what an amazing spectator event it has become. I wish I had all the toys back when I was shooting Motocrossed, It would have been just amazing to be able to put the kids under the helmet so to speak. And the series has to be about the characters within the sport. It can't just be about the racing. That's what makes those other docs so accessible for a broad audience. It's all character based. And right now, you have the best guys for that since I don't know when. Someone needs to get that done and that will be the first step. Just my opinion.

Maybe if motocross didn’t make it so hard to watch outside of US you would have a larger audience. You guys make it impossible to watch unless you spend $280 a year on a subscription that’s your problem. Let’s not pretend it’s not.

I’ve always said this, I don’t see what’s the big deal about “growing the sport”, it’s all these lot ever go on about, only way it gets more mainstream is by becoming to the mainstream narrative bullshite such as the bureaucracy and then they’ll start pushing all the woke crap with it, these lot are the type to drive it because it would bring them more money that’s what they’re after and they would be more than happy to push the woke bureaucracy stuff or whatever was demanded of them for more money but I think the sport is just fine and should be left alone in terms of “growing the sport”

Haiden Deegan has the Caitlin Clark effect. He brings fans to watch. Motocross should be on Network TV like NASCAR is. The problem with Motocross there is too much time between races for Network TV.
