Cool idea, but my only problem with its somewhat counter intuitive to the lore of the universe. The Enclave, The Brotherhood of Steel, NCR, Caesar's Legion... all these massive organizations have been trying to claim and fight over territory for years, even decades in some cases, and the only reason one force or the other haven't conquered larger territories of the US is because travel is very, very difficult. Bombing didn't just destroy cities, it completely crumbled infrastructure across the entire US. Former cities and population centers are almost all that's left of known, civilized society... beyond that, the wasteland is plagued with miles open miles of open wasteland completely void of food or water of any kind, or worse yet, large areas constantly ravished by radiation storms filled with deathclaws, super mutants, and God knows what else.. To have a character or mechanic that can suddenly traverse painlessly from point to point across the US cheapens the struggle the fallout world suffers from a bit, and wouldn't really make sense logically.

I think "the entire US" is probably a little too ambitious. I'd much rather they focus on just a single city or region, building it up and making it a lot more interesting, even in the minute details. Chicago sounds fun, as does NOLA, my hope, honestly is that something is done with height and how that completely changes the game. It was messed with a little bit in downtown boston in Fallout 4 but I'd like to see it go much much further.

The guy is clueless about Boston's deep rich history, so I think it is safe to assume he does not know jack about American culture and the scale of America, besides the tropes he learns from a few movies and TV that mostly take place in three or four places (California, DC, New York, and generic small mid west town). Europeans always give Americans a hard time for being ignorant on geography and history, but the truth of the matter is that when they do that they mean European geography and history. They are just as clueless about North America. That said Chicago would be a great pick, but so would numerous American cities. I would love to see Fallout taken on Atlanta, which if you include the greater metro area, North Georgia politics, the corruption of American conservatives (Republicans, but we can't come out and say that in a videogame) the bigotry of the Religious Right, and the history of the Civil Rights Churches on the Left (Martin Luther King Jr's Ebenezer Baptist Church is in Atlanta), plus the crazy crime, the over abundance of guns, and the location of military bases, land marks, and crazy weather patterns, Atlanta is perfect. I mean the Airport alone is a city within a city.

could open a path to combine. Maine and canada would be an interesting backwoods area. like far harbor, if it was moreso a proper hunting place, with layers of nuclear snow, blown out wrecks, but maybe hidden inside a bunker, you could find a working vehicle to drive. Say, some form of small ATV? Modified to handle these conditions.

Alright, hear me out… South Dakota. There is A LOT of Wild West type history, uranium deposits, gold mines, gambling, wild life, a military base, missile silos, famous monuments and landmarks, Native American myths and stories that can be incorporated into the supernatural side stuff, and there are a great amount of places for vaults scattered through the area. It could be very easy to translate the fallout universe to this area, and still feel like a very unique entry into the franchise.

I personally really like the cohesive theme of one city. I think it allows for richer content, more small and careful details, and a consistent theme to really immerse yourself with. I think the "Planet hopping" model (outside of DLC content) would really lose a lot of what makes fallout so great, a densely packed detailed single landscape. I'm all for making that single landscape larger though.

I like the maps in The Outer Worlds. The separate maps were big enough to be fun to explore, but not so big that they were filled with empty dull landscape. I also don't like when Fallout tries to fill in that empty space with uninteresting crap like burned out houses filled with garbage like milk bottles, soda bottles, ruined/burned books, etc. At least Fallout 4 made items able to be broken down into materials, which is nice and remedies a huge problem. I just hope whatever they decide, the next map(s) feels less dull and more purposeful, rather than having vast areas of dirt and rock like Fallout 3 and NV.

One of the biggest hurdles (or creative opportunities, depending on your point of view) is the inability to reasonably build anything underground in Florida, which would force them to handle vaults differently. Maybe we'd finally get the Bioshock-inspired underwater vaults they had planned for Fallout 4. It makes plenty of sense. Florida has buttloads of marine life to include as enemies in these areas. Personally, I think it should take place in Alaska. Alaska was invaded by the Chinese military, and only briefly taken back by the Americans. So it would make sense that there would still be suvivors from both factions within the state. It would be cool trying to quell the fights that inevitably broke out between the two factions after the bombs fell, giving a cool ending about letting the Old World go, to look into the future together. It could also have a cool survival element. It can be hard surviving the winter, sure, but the summer has its own problems. Very little food, uneven terrain, dangerous animals, and long treks through the beautiful Alaskan wilderness. Doing the whole state would be weird though. I think the hotspots to focus on would be the Golden Heart Valley (the Fairbanks area), Anchorage (because its the largest city and the lore would be great) and the arctic tundra around and in Kotzebue (Its very beautiful and more varied compared to Anchorage and Fairbanks. It even has sand dunes!). Alaska is big, and the stories of the survivors of both sides of the conflict sound like an amazing story. It could also show the third partys, such as the Alaska Natives or even the NCR or Legion (If they are still around that is). I love my state and I think it would be a cool setting for a full game or even a story DLC.

I want to see New York honestly. You got the US Officer’s Academy, Empire State building, the Intrepid Aircraft Carrier, and other locations. I like an idea of the Enclave being centered there with Manhattan and the US Officer’s Academy being the main bases of the Enclave. The Brotherhood could be expanding and find the Enclave. It could be where you have to decide who to back. Perhaps a more reformed Enclave vs. a more fascistic Brotherhood of Steel. It would be a cool setting in my opinion.

I actually did think how there'd likely be a group of fanatics, who were kind of like a more grim reflection of the Boomers from New Vegas, with how they could essentially be a logical extreme of a lot of materialistic obcessions with the 2nd amendment. Plus, not only could they be a sort of "grim reflection" in their overall practices, infrastructure and for the fact that they probably would be more bat-shit insane, compared to the Boomers, but also in how compared to the xenophobia the Boomers had before the courier's intervention, THESE guys would outright look for any opportunity to welcome people into their ranks, possibly even from their routinely pilgramidge trips, harassing and heckling to other settlers out their own gospal and "devine protection".

But as someone born in the south, a lot of the values that pre fallout 4 fallout had would fit right in in the south eastern states. Imagine seeing a place known for it's vibrancy and life brought to shades of brown and grey. I feel It should take place in Louisiana, Alabama, and Georgia. It's more feasible and realistic while also giving diverse climate and ecosystems. You can feel the corruption at your feet and find long buried histories of segregation and violence, evidence of the civil war still standing, and a lot of rich and bloody history put together. Allowing blues and folk to come together to give the environment that specific feel of fallout and the old south would make it the perfect setting for fallout.

Iowa could be a really cool location, you could have the coralville mall and the small town of Wellman as settlements. Iowa is the perfect mix of industrial, urban and rural areas to explore. Some locations could be the Capital, and the infrastructure of the rural areas could be less devastated from the blast, with cars still working in some areas and the least affected areas could have almost pre war buildings and societies.

No. For a million reasons, but mainly 2 things. 1. The map, cities, towns, and factions already aren’t that big in the game world(that engine is ass). I think they should focus on making the areas they set the games in more intricate, and large. 2. The best fallout games focus on a contained region and conflict, and how that conflict will effect the world around it. You get to see every way of life, outlook, and ideology of everybody around you. Making a large US map would dilute the feeling that these conflicts are important. I do think that vehicles and mountables are a good idea tho.

A fallout centered around the lower peninsula of Michigan would be an ideal setting for a Fallout game. On the east you'd have Detroit, Saginaw, Ann Arbor. On the west you'd have Grand Rapids, Muskegon, Holland. And knowing how there could be add-ons, the add-ons could be Ontario, Michigan's UP, and a travel link between the 2 biggest shoreline cities of Lake Michigan(Muskegon to Chicago, vice versa).

Personally, I think the next Fallout game should steer well away from the East coast and take place in the midwest or the south. Michigan, Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin and Texas would be interesting locations as we don't know too much about what happened to those states. Plenty of room for new lore and factions, as well as expanding upon the midwestern BoS chapter operating in Chicago. Boston was a poor choice for Fallout 4 and felt like a copy. Too close to FO3's setting in D.C. and yet again having to deal with Lyons' chapter, only reformed.

Honestly a Fallout game set in the Rustbelt would be hella interesting. With how many factories and the large amount of industry within the various states exists now I could see monolithic ruined factories as set pieces with small towns scattered around them. Heck maybe there could even be some sort of weird religious cult that worships the old automotive factories with maybe the old Packard plant in Detroit as their strange home. I remember seeing that kinda idea used in a mod for a strategy game and it would work well considering how we got stuff like the cult of Mothman and the Children of Atom.

New Orleans is definitely my favourite out of those suggestions. However, I would love to see a Fallout game in the mountains and forests surrounding Denver and Colarado Springs. This is because I love this type of countryside for one thing. Also, I'm happiest in Fallout exploring mysterious remote locations far from urban centres, rather than going around the centres themselves. Makes me feel more lone wandery I suppose. More isolated and dangerous. The great thing about this location is that you could tap into a few real world things like the underground military bases such as Cheyenne Mountain, and above ground bases too, so you can explore more about how the US military and government coped in the days following the apocalypse. Some part of them might even survive as a faction. Depending on how big the map is, you could take in several National Parks with varying biomes, and even cities like Salt Lake in neighbouring Utah if you were really going big with it. The Navajo Nation is also located on the southern border with New Mexico so you could tap into the real world conspiracy theory of the Navajo knowing something about aliens (or in the world of Fallout, the Zetans). To make the most of the location I would also love for the game to have a weather/season mechanic so you could have a summer, a rainy season, snow in the winter, etc. Probably not going to happen as it's not iconic enough, but that would be my dream.

If we were to have multiple maps which one would travel across, I think Bethesda could benefit from reusing old maps. So, these are the areas I would want a theoretical Fallout 5. Alabama wouldn't be a bad location tbh, if they went with somewhere like the Mobile area. Within a 20 mile radius of the city (which isn't huge but does have a few sky scrapers), there's the coast, there's Dauphin Island with a Coast Guard base, sea lab and Fort Gaines (a pre-civil war era fort built in 1821), there's Mobile Bay with all it's water ways and swamps. There's tons of forest and wilderness, as well as plenty of urban areas ranging from lower income to high priced and ritzy. Mobile is actually the birthplace of Mardi Gras, even though New Orleans is far better known for it. You have some landmarks like the old train station with its gothic looking gargoyle statues, the port that sprawls for miles full of ships both civilian and military, the Bankhead Tunnel and Wallace Tunnel under the river, the USS Alabama battleship (along with the USS Drum submarine and aviation museum), as well as dozens of other places that would make for interesting locale. That being said, unless you've been there to some degree or another, the average person probably wouldn't be familiar with much of that, if any. So it wouldn't really fit the motif of being known far and wide like aforementioned places the video points out. Still though, as someone who knows the area well, I bet a FO game set in the area would be a blast.

I though It would be cool to set it in Taiwan and have a couple of major factions fighting to establish a government. The four factions I though of were the remnants of the chinese government who annexed the island before the start of the war, the remnents of the taiwanese government who had hidden out after the annexation, and bunch of people from a vault where the experiment was complete Laisse-faire capitalism, and people from a control vault (complete communism). I haven't really though about the story, and I understand that it doesn't make sense as a mainline fallout game (hence then name not being numbered)

Fallout 5. Project Solar Storm. (My idea for a good fallout game) the sole survivor flew to the moon. But then they find out that china nuked the moon because the U.S was fighing with china to see who gets the moon. The survivor quickly finds out that the united states actually inhabited the moon and had it like a mini earth. Then we find out that the enclave BUILT a massive base underneath the moon. And when the nuke hit, The moon was severely damaged so the atmosphere is bad. The sole survivor now has to face challenges like his/her Oxygen tank, and theres like ways to upgrade your space suit. Then when theyre oxygen gets low, They have to find a Oxygen replenish station to refill it. If they dont, They die. This could add potential for New game mechanics, Vehicles, And a continued story with the sole survivor. Then, the BOS, Brotherhood of steel for those who for some reason dont know them, Upgrade the prydwen to fly to the moon to fight the Enclave. Then theyres a possibility to put the Chinese army in the game, Trying to retake the moon. The sole survivor then finds out that the moons condition is Critical, And that the moon would implode in 3 months. The sole survivor then has to Get off of the moon, and they can choose 1 faction to side with, To save and run back with. Once picked, They may fly down to Canada for example, And thats where the game ends. Or, For a secret ending, They can try to repair the moon. But after many years of trying, A solar storm hits the moon, Ending most of the enclave, The BOS, And a good fraction of the Chinese army. Or, They can win at trying to restore the moon to a habitable state, Ending the need for a Space suit. Then they have to pick a faction to join, That faction will wipe out the others, the enclave being destroyed by the brotherhood's forces, Then using leftover enclave nukes to destroy China, Or, You can side with china, And gun down the prydwen with an experimental nuculear railgun, Then use the nukes from the enclave on itself, Or you can side with the enclave, And they will Burn the prydwen to the ground, And then nuke China. Then the sole survivor must rebuild the Moon. And thats my idea for a good fallout. If anyone wants to reply and setup a kickstarter to make something like this, i will happily build a game like this with you.

Or even swimming out to the statue of liberty, that would probably have been blown up and have a planet of the apes reference, and go to the big apple just seeing such a large densely packed place, and even have locations from the surrounding states , stretch out to Philadelphia PA, New Haven CT. Hell if it takes place after Fo4 you could even run into Minuteman in CT, could even run into enclave remnants from D.C. in PA, or Boston BoS remnants on their way back to D.C. depending on the timeline of the game. I honestly want to see 5 take place in during after the bombs. Not 20 years after or frozen 200 years after I mean literally a month later maybe in Detroit. I feel it would really be showing how much hell people had to deal with when the bombs dropped since there are some who turn ghoul and some who were spared but left with mutations.

For fallout 5 I’d actually wanna see one city like New York since there’s endless possibilities of what you can do there and loads of room to expand the map to include parts of other states but if they were to make another NV style spin off game I’d want it to be in Mexico or divided between Mexico and Texas I wanna see a more western style fallout game like nv but with modern mechanics and I feel like it would be cool to see maybe a collapsing ceasers legion where you can side with freedom fighters, opportunistic generals, or some sorts of Mexican outlaw gang maybe even a cartel

I think Washington state would be a great setting as there is a great difference in the landscape. You could roam the misty mountain of Olympia, head into Seattle, cross the cascades, head through the scab lands all the way to the edge of Spokane. There is just so much potential as it can be a much different perspective on a corner of the us as well as have future docs for Portland, anchorage, and even parts of Canada. It's just perfect.

Frankly, though it'll never probably change, Im tired of all these world-saving stories. I want something more emotionally intimate, and on a smaller scale. Like Heavy Rain or RDR2, I'd like a Fallout game where maybe similar to FO4 you're in search of someone, but you don't ever end up becoming the savior of the land or some sort of God. It'd be cool if Bethesda stories were more character driven and less plot-driven

Why am I not seeing people suggesting New York City? The Statue of Liberty could be some kinda plot point like it was converted into a missile silo and the local factions are at war over control over it. It could be a universe where the original WTC is still there but Falloutified, and areas like Queens and Brooklyn are home to rival gangs that have taken up the stereotypes of each area to an extreme, almost cult-like extent. A huge sprawling city with very little countryside would be an amazing sight in the world of Fallout

I can to the realization of why Fallout 4 takes place in Boston. What my current thought is that Boston is where the American revolution started and its where many of the Factions in fallout either take their last stand or rise up just as the United States did. Now I know that not everyone is familiar with US history and that is fine but it explains it to you in the first part of the game in the Concord museum.
