I learned 3 very valuable life lessons during the 'madness'. I always believed this country was immune from that sort of nonsense. I was 100% wrong about that. I then understood the second lesson about how nazi Germany and pol pot had come about and how easily a society can be driven to it. The third was more painful and immediate. People who I thought were solid and reliable turned out to be the opposite. Its one of the most profound things I've ever experienced. No matter how solid you think people are, you will be sacrificed and shunned in an instant if they feel you are perceived as a threat to them or their family. Even if the threat is imagined or concocted by the government. They were very harsh lessons to learn and 5 years later I've still not really come to terms with it. I don't think I'll ever see people in the same way again. My faith in people, my country, the government and 'the' science have been shattered

We were subcontracting to a well known national building company. (No names). My boss, now deceased through being a professional alcoholic, was paying the site manager, £3000 in cash, every 6 months, or less, to keep the contract. It was a big contract and I did well working there, and I paid all my taxes. But this sort of corruption goes on in a lot of places. When scarcity, high prices, high inflation and fear of it getting worse all happen at the same time people look to acquire as much as they can just to keep body and soul together. When you import millions of people who hail from countries where starvation and deprivation are normal aspects of daily life, it only makes the problem worse because they bring those attitudes with them and those attitudes are contagious. It's human nature. Our governments in the west have created the conditions for these attitudes to rise- they are always there. In affluent societies like those we used to enjoy these attitudes are pretty much limited to the deep background.

God allows Satan to test us. How we respond to these temptations is VERY important. What we say that we believe, is one thing. What we choose to do is another matter entirely. This is why I focus on the first 3 Gospels of the New Testament. Jesus said some very important things to us. It's my belief that we should focus on Him, and only Him: Matthew 7:21-23 21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

That is a heart searching application. If not corrected we all just naturally lie or exagerate to make ourselves appear to be better than we are or for advantage over another. My dearly loved great uncle Keith was a great one to tell tall tales. As a kid on the family homestead in NW Nebraska where an occasional tenderfoot traveled thru via stagecoach, for the fun and maybe profit of it he sold the inexperienced, porcupine eggs. They were cockleburrs. Of course he hated any kind of Gospel message to trust Christ because it offended his delicate sensibilities regarding where he was going to spend eternity if he didn't change his mind about Jesus. One day after hearing the saving message once again and becoming irate he passed away suddenly. Definitely as we've kicked God and His word out of all public life the stigma of being known as a liar has lost its punch to the extent that truth telling is scorned and lying is considered a practice of worldly wisdom. As Isaiah observed evil is called good and good evil by the haters of God.

I appreciate your thoughts very much, but beyond that is the huge question of intentionality or banality. Look at the short book ( famous here in Germany ) by Hannah Arendt " Die Banalität des Bösen ", about A. Eichmann and how she witnessed the trial. Evil did not appear as the giant demonic monster, on the contrary. Now to bridge the gap to your discussion about fraud : when is the individual clearly conscious of the fact that he or she is intentionally committing a fraud, or something bad ? Probably your first example is obvious, I do think that this individual will probably " know " about that beforehand. But what, lets say your example of the pharmaceutical company and a GP who then prescribes the drug. It might be that this GP has omitted every kind of alternative information, believed the official narrative, and then prescribed without INTENTIONALLY wanting to do any harm. On the contray, there might even be stickers in his or her waiting room, stating : " Getting this drug is LOVE and SOLIDARITY ". And now, even after some years and many, lets say hundreds of peer reviewed studies and countless cases in all countries worldwide, it is really obvious that this doctor did something wrong. BUT by bypassing and blocking again any alternative information, this person remains in a subjectively innocent status. So what would you say then : this person did NOT intentionally cause harm or fraud, he or she just " did the paperwork " ( see the book mentioned above ), or prescribed the drug. So what is your take on that ? In Buddhism, something like a karmic action has to be interpreted in two ways, one is the causal effect, was it harmful or benevolent, and the other one : did the person have a good intention before the act, or not ?
@nigelwatson2750Күн бұрын
GPs are paid to look the other way. They aren't stupid though. It is inconceivable that they wouldn't have noticed that their drugs and eating advice has made their patients sicker. They like looking the other way when they get paid to do so - payments for every patient who gets put on statins. GPs do care. They care about their bank balance. They don't care about their patients. What happened in 2020-24 proves that beyond all doubt. THEY INTENTIONALLY CAUSED HARM. God can also see into every man's heart. There's no hiding place from the father of creation.
