Sorry you lost your ensette bananas. Here in panhandle of Florida I left mine in ground and did one wrap of frost cloth and one wrap of bubble wrap. The records 3 night of cold we had in late December with temps about 22 F and wind chills near 0 proved enough to get them through doing well. I also had a few in large pots I relocated to the garage for that cold snap

Luckily I keep my Bananas in large pots and keep them in my basement they are quite happily in there with just the house temperature going over winter. I hope you have better luck in the future. 👍

Sympathy with you. I lost loads. So many plants of all types gingers bananas canna. So keeping more in large pots this year

Ah no. We dry store our Ensetes in the loft. I was concerned about that as it's well insulated from upstairs. We thought we might lose our basjoos as they literally burst, showering out ice cubes - never seen anything like it! But they're back to last years height, about 3 m, like nothing happened! Good luck with the propagation!

My Musella lasiodrparpa, in a pot, survived outside ; well wrapped up and covered in straw, it was placed in the sheltered porch in Devon. So sorry to hear of your loss. It must surely have been devastating and will take years to replace. Looking forward to the garden tours where the rich display will hopefully outweigh the sadness.

Thanks yes, I really did the absolute minimal protection/ heating last winter and most things were fine. Just these that didn't quite make it

My banana plants are so good again this year after the winter I thought most wouldn’t make it but they came back strong and are over 10 feet tall

Not good. But happy you still have a couple of Hiniba's left. Especially as most people that have them in the country seemed to have gotten them from yourself? Also the price of the things are a little insane if bought online at the moment.

Never good losing plants especially when you have overwintered them so many times.i had a young maurelii that survived in my pop up greenhouse all winter, put out a few leaves then wood lice chewed straight through it and killed it. 😢. Will we be seeing any walk through videos soon?

For Ensete ventricosum I grow them in big pots. November or so I wait for a dry spell then chop all the leaves off and bring them into our rear entrance with an outer door. Pots then go on their sides with little light and are left dry till mid April or so when they go straight out into full sun and off they go again. A reliable method.
