Many Keralites have done well within the country too. That is something that isn't appreciated well enough. Analysts like Joe focus a bit too much on Malayalis abroad, probably because that's more glamorous. Malayalis within India have excelled in various fields and not just some limited fields like nursing in which Malayalis living abroad seem to thrive. I have lived most of my life in India and worked outside Kerala. Only foreign stints I had was when my employer sent me for short periods. That was good enough to get a boost in income. This has meant that I have kept a regular cultural contact with Kerala. With India poised to rise economically, the opportunities are right here for educated people which most Keralites are. Investment returns are also much higher in India. Malayalis must look within India before having this obsession to go abroad. Everyone who goes abroad isn't making it big. Joe's video has too much survivorship bias. Sometimes talk about those who didn't make it.

No buddy, this is pertinent. What he's trying to say is that Kerala is empty. Look around and all you'll find are mostly senior citizens or school kids. This state doesn't allow entreprise to flourish thanks to its residents who keep voting for the Left and Congress. Needless to say, the state is content with foreign remittances and doesn't want to develop and evolve. I've always had this theory that Kerala is the Germany of India minus the technological evolution. Sadly, this will continue for decades into the future unless the people develop a sense to progress. For the average keralite, progress means going abroad and getting a job and sending home money. The young generation of kerala only care about how much mayonnaise is provided with their Mandhi rice. Trust me, they actually don't care about pathetic roads, rampant student politics or lack of job opportunities. Ultimately they know that they have to leave this place and come back perhaps once a year and brag about the tranquility of this place. Yes, it's tranquil, but at the cost of a dying population.Fin.

The vision of great leaders is the reason why any normal Keralites are qualified to travel anywhere. Thanks to an education system that allowed me-and countless others-to complete 10+2+3+2 years of education without incurring a single rupee in tuition, I can stand shoulder to shoulder with people from any background. This speaks volumes about the quality and inclusivity of the education we receive here. Unlike the Gujjus dunki migrants, Mallus don't have to wait at Canadian and Mexican borders to get shot at or be frozen to death midway infiltrating another country. In a state that was at the time of Independence, one of the poorest states with a literacy rate of 13%, we have come a long way. I only wish Keralites would allow new industries and tourism to flourish. Instead, they do everything to fight them. It is outrageous and disappointing that sundry items are imported from China, instead of being created by local talent and industries. They do manufacture gheraos, disruption, and protests. While other states and nations progress, Kerala and India stagnate in these aspects. Karma is always around the corner. I hate to be the Devil's Advocate. When will they ever learn? I guess, never. Those who migrated 70s and before. For them Kerala is just like any other part of India. So they wont come back and their kids don't know to read and write Malayalam and those who migrated are now in their last stage of life or alredy died and their grand kids struggle even to speak Malayalam so those guys will lose their malayali identity within 20 years. Those who migrated in 80s and 90s majority will come back except those who are highly settled and those who got citizenship. For them Kerala is an okayish state. Those migrated after 2000 will mostly comeback after their aspirations. Because Kerala right now is comparatively better state to live in India. Thanks to the great leaders we have in past and present times. If nothing happens to our foreign remittance and simultaneously we should focus on the development of micro manufacturing units accross the state along with continue the growth of service sector and if we don't face any major distasters or wars in next twenty or thirty years i think we will continue to thrive do better as society. You are not highlighting why keralites are moving out of Kerala You are showcasing everyone who moved out as yusuf ali What about the millions of keralites doing labor jobs in gulf? You are missing the point for the reason why there is unemployment in Kerala Highlight why keralites are moving out but people from other states have jobs in their own land I think Keralites have no self respect.. hence they go begging for jobs in other states No jobs , no industry, no roads in Kerala Highlight these points too

In Hindi there is a saying that Dogs dont have the ability to digest Desi ghee. Most of Kerala society suffers from that syndrome. Prior to outward migration Mallus where scattered all over India, escaping poverty in Kerala. The same people when they became somewhat stable, they started boasting about theirr pedigree, everyone was claiming that he has Nallukettu in his ancestral land . The kerala society is a remiitance based society full of pomp and false ego. It is not self sufficient in food production, if mallus make a course correction then only they can survive, if they continue the show off culture , thinking that they r the superior people, it will be no good for them. A bit of humility and humbleness will do no harm

Much better than illegal migration from Gujju state. Recent statistics say out of 90,000 illegal migrants from India to US/Canada last year, 50% were from Guj.

@abiisaac: By attitude, Mallus are way more arrogant than the Gujjus. Atleast Gujjus have something to be proud about their state, what does kerala have other than these 3 - lottery, liquor, tourism ?

@@third3eye26 Mallus: Kerala no. 1 Also Mallu abroad: Saar, give me job saar. I do all job, i don't want to go back to kerala. I will be ur slave. Mallus bragging about Kerala is like someone bragging about a house made of straw which can be blown away in a storm.

Now we keralites feel the loss of our great kingdom Travancore the legacy of united Kerala Travancore Cochin and Malabar…. In present being downtrodden under Indian colonization and infiltrations we have to move to a better territory not for us but for our forthcoming generations …. Lest there won’t be anymore Keralites there will only be Indians living in Kerala. In fact we keralites lost our motherland United Kerala 😢😮😢

@joe-metricview6035 they l realise, going to west is not like going to gulf. They won't get PR. Once they return, they l break back of trade unionists (like how one film star fan was neutralized). And then, naadu nannavum. End of vigadan vaad, Badal Rekha 🙅♀️. Howzzat umpire ?

My great grand uncle migrated to Malay ( present Malaysia and Singapore ) in the early 1960s and another one went to Ceylon. Kerala geography is only good for early and retired life . Today kerala is the most costliest place in India with average manual labour wage INR1200 per day compared to 400 in Bengal or UP.

Nobody is thinking about Kerala residents, trying hard to reach a stage.
