Becky, I had a bilateral mastectomy and reconstruction in 2005 aged 34. Marks and Spencer do good bras for after surgery. Avoid underwire bras from now on. Get some drawstring bags to slip onto your arms for the drainage bags to keep them hidden. Handy for keeping them out of view when walking around in hospital and going to the canteen or bathroom. I’ll send you a friend request on FB so feel free to message me if can be of any help. Good thing is, you are healthy. I actually had cancer. Chemotherapy, radiotherapy, Herceptin. So you will recover quickly. All the best. I’m here if you need to ask me anything. Your Gluten-free videos have helped me, so I’d like to help you now. Hugs. X

Thank you so much for your videos. I have recently been diagnosed with IBS after years and years of pain... I was also told to go gluten and soy free in addition to my already long list of allergies. Your videos and recipes have been so helpful. I find it so hard to find gluten free recipes that don't have tonz of dairy and soy in it... I just wish your recipes were converted to US measurements:) Wishing you lots of luck on your op! Thanks for sharing your story!

I had a minor biopsy under my breast so had to avoid wired bras for a long time just due to the location and I found matalan had a good amount of comfort bras available and I still use them now so they have lasted the test of time, would definitely recommend.

I would get some nice vest tops bigger than your usual size so they're not tight for after the operation, and they'll be nice in warm weather plus you don't have to put them over your head, you can step into them just as easily and slide your arms into them as you pull them up. Hope the op goes well x

Becky whatever i say will proberly not ease the stress your going through, having been exactly where you are 9yrs ago which is crazy saying that, making such a huge decision as you are is the right one for your own peace of mind, i didnt have that i allready had cancer and two tumours to deal with, then being told oh you have brca 2 as well, i opted for no reconstruction and that was reallt quite easy out of all of this, i cannot look at mysef even now, and am still numb because i has lymph nodes removed as well, which is very common, anyhow stay strong, i wish i could jump through my screen and give you the biggest hug, sending all the good wishes i can xxxx

if you want to recover from ibs join the dnrs program. it takes you from heightened mall adaptive stress response fight or flight mode and makes you calm your limbic system. your baseline is elevated which causes digestive problems and many other symptoms and anxiety. both physical and mental. once we recalibrate we the symptoms go away. we don't need coping mechanisms anymore. special coping mechanisms keep the cycle going and they get hardwired in. this program works for many chronic illnesses not just digestive ones.

Sending lots of love and preyers for your op and recovery, now is the time to buy those loose fitting summer dresses and maybe buy a size bigger for lounging whilst at home. Our bodies are great at recovering from trauma, i had major surgery for a grade 4 facial tumour 18 months ago, different surgery i know, but the best tip i can give is take one day at a time and on the bad / down days just remember there will be good days too. Be kind to yourself, sleep when you need to, the anaesthetic will make you tired for a good few days and you may be super tearful around day 3-4, its normal. But most of all however you feel each day, it is your ‘normal’ on ‘your’ journey. The fact you want to share the most difficult time to help others in so inspirational, we are all here for you so if you need to post a quick video saying you need some positive comments on any given day, just do it. You have given us all so much and so it is our time to give back to you. Stay strong, and when you cannot do that, tissues, tea and chocolate helps xx
