You should have mentioned the per capita GDP too. That is very important to buy anything. for example in India buying a harley benton or Katana is also a semi luxury thing.

I think it depends on what you buy, and where. Here in upper Austria Engl are some of the best bang for buck amps while everywhere else they're an expensive premium brand, but here everyone and his mother have an Engl stack in the cellar which they're trying to sell, and if it needs repair i can just bring it myself to the Engl factory across the border. Also my cables and my main guitar are german brands. I try to buy mainly local stuff, except pedals. I don't have a single pedal from continental europe, they're all made in UK, USA or Asia.

I think Japan is a great place to be a guitarist. To be honest, Japanese makers like ESP and Ibanez are miles better than American brands. Japanese workers just take their jobs more seriously. The domestic only ESP brands like Grassroots and Edwards are vastly better than the crap Epiphone puts out. Prices are fairly reasonable with the weak yen as long as you buy in country. Lots of good-quality cheap amps available too.

It’s always been more expensive for so-called luxury products in the UK. The US has been a rich country for years.

I recently acquired an English-made guitar, a custom Maybury Fishook T style. Great premium product. You gents are making quality guitars in the UK.

A little bit more then gear goes into the cost of being a guitar player. A place to sleep, food, place to practice, fuel to get to gigs just to name a few. I would really hate to buy fuel anywhere in the Europe.

I can imagine. Although a buddy of mine in Sydney says that a lot of the Japanese stuff (Boss, Ibanez etc.) is pretty reasonable though.

Hey Brad. As an Aussie guitarist I've been bleeding through the hip pocket for over 45 years. Why did you cite Australia?

In Iran I have to pay 10 months of my income to buy an American made Fender. Expensive enough?

There are like 500 million guitar players world-wide. There is a lot of gear manufactured every year. Much of the gear has to be cheap and of decent quality. It is possible to get almost anything from anywhere, you just have to pay shipping and TAX. Taxes are controlled by governments. So it's really a question of what people are willing to pay to have their country and their way of life.

In Australia you can pretty much double plus a bit of an American advertised price on guitars....Dont know how it works out but ive been told its to do with import taxes,,,We are use to the government going in dry now so it dont hurt as much 😂😂
