This level took me like two weeks to complete. I didn't understand that you had to use the kimono and linings to get the guards to get the moon light to her mirror. It was way too complex for an eight year old. I used to ask my parents what to do, but they were like "figure it out yourself!"

Man, getting past those guards took me forever when I first played this! I didn't know about the poems to help for the linings, so I did a lot of guessing in order to finally finish. I think the jackets were a little more obvious since they had pictures of items to represent the seasons, the same as those in the rooms. And those guards? Talk about picky men!

I remember a few other lines from the guards as well. If you got the whole Kimono wrong, here's what they said: Summer Guard: "A curse on that kimono! Doesn't blend with my decor at all! Autumn Guard: "You think that mix-matched getup will get you inside? Guess again! Winter Guard: "Begone! That awful kimono doesn't fit here at all! Spring Guard: "My blood runs cold! You're jacket and lining don't fit my room at all!!

This was my favorite Case, but I guess that's because mostly I'm a sucker for Japan, and I actually own a copy of the tale of genji. Also I think it's funny that this is the only case where somebody actually questions what the characters are wearing. Lol

This was my favorite case, too. Mostly because we get to dress Renee up in kimonos.

As a child I loved this game. This one and the Beethoven one were my favorite levels. Today I am a Japanophile musician. Go figure! Anyway, I think back then I didn't appreciate the depth of the ideas in this level. Feng Shui, Haiku, the fact that it was high-fashion in the Heian period to follow kasane no irome with the seasons... whoosh, right over my 8-year-old head.

Hey, I have a special request: could you possibly upload a video where it's just the music portion of this level- like just run the microphone to record the music, without actually playing the game? Even if it's not that long, I would still LOVE to have this music :-D

Wikipedia seems to suggest that most scholars believe that Murasaki Shikibu died in 1014, but this case is in 1015. (Some people think she died in 1031) Also, if this case was really a dozen years after the last one, that would put the Viking case at 1003, the year that Leif Ericsson's father Erik the Red died.

JTR This game is not very historical whatsoever. The Roman case is insanely inaccurate, for one

Wait... around 8:45, did the guard say "rife" instead of "life"? I knew they'd throw in the typical Japanese accent sometime...

Maybe I'm an historical elitist, but I don't think they got the history right here. The Heian attire was different than that of the typical Edo kimono...Renee Santz is practically wearing underwear among the Heian court!

@Shipuh11 жыл бұрын
Excuse me!?!? You're telling me I should have pointed out how is accent is wrong? And just who the hell made you the scholar on Heian Original Pronunciation. We don't even know what Elizabethan English historically sounded like 400 years ago. Original Pronunciation Scholars make guesses to how the language sounded based under the assumption that all of Shakespeare's sonnets MUST HAVE RHYMED. But was this truly the case? We have historical artifacts of Heian Japan, not people to speak Wago to us.
