Where is all the snow?? The examples shown are the exception, not the rule. It's not even mid November yet folks. In my 25 years of commercial and industrial snow removal, i found it extraordinarily rare to have a meaningful amount of snow, shovelable and plowable snow, at this point in the season.

My guy, there has been snow in late Oct back in the early 2010s. Slowly pushed back week by week until there is a noticeable delay at the end of that decade. You don’t need a damn industrial slow plower to get 5 cm of snow off your driveway. Get real.

Driest? This has been the wettest year ever recorded. Toronto had the wettest summer ever and Muskoka region got double the rain Toronto did. It has been an absolute wash. This winter will be notable for extreme cloudiness and wettness/dampness. Mark my words.

@@Shonade_Malik The warm temps in the winter are directly correlated to the cloud cover. Notice that when the days are clear (particularly the nights), the temps will drop hard. The winters have been mild due to the cloud cover, basically, as the clouds retain the warmth in the winter.

Love it or hate it, the snow is crucial to agriculture. It protects the crops that farmers sow in the autumn, like winter wheat. The snow melt feeds the aquifers. The thaws that Southern Ontario has had the last few years in February are really worrisome. As Ontario’s climate changes, the aquifers will be more and more depleted. Field crops like corn & soy go into feed for livestock. (Putin’s war in Ukraine has disrupted livestock feed prices worldwide, increasing the cost of beef, pork, chicken.) Food prices will increase. Pray for snow!

My mother remembers learning to downhill ski on thanksgiving weekend back in 1959. It was normal to have deep snow by then.

Although most of us hate the snow and wish for a winter without it, it is the opposite for farmers..... Here are some of the advantages of snow on your fields: * Insulates dormant crops like wheat. A layer of snow insulates the crop helping to avoid “winter kill” during bitter cold temperatures. * Snowflakes can contain trace amounts of nitrogen from the atmosphere that will help fertilize the next crop. *The snow on top of a field helps to preserve the moisture already in the ground. *Once the snow begins to melt it will also help to put moisture back into the ground. There is approximately one inch of water for every 10 inches of snow. This can vary with different wetness and thickness of snow. * No-till farming can also help eliminate drifting trapping snow on the field for more water distribution as the snow melts. Without snow in the winter, prices will increase as the lack of snow can and will affect winter crops.

We don’t need snow anymore because hay doesn’t pay enough to pay the debt, wheat doesn’t even pay the expense to plant it, corn the price is too low and soybeans too and yet price at the groceries are still high. It’s the worst year ever for the farmers since a long time. So no we don’t need snow, it rains plenty in the summer

@@alloyou5578 You do not sound like a farmer. Winter wheat is still needed and many farmers plant it. Also there is a difference between spring wheat and winter wheat. Spring wheat is sown in the spring and is harvested in the fall. Winter wheat is sown in the fall, lives through the winter, (this is why the farmers need that blanket of snow) and is then harvested in the summer. Harder winter wheat usually contains a higher protein content than spring wheat and is suitable for making pasta and bread.

For Toronto and the GTA it was usually end of November, December, traditionally and not always, so we are still only a tad higher temps than normal so far…. But winters have been trending warmer these days.

A career repairing cars over the last 45 ish years , October,November you couldn’t book a car in . Bias ply snow tires , the big luggy ones, winter thermostats and tuneups . Now , Insurance companies give you a discount on your car insurance if snows are installed by December 1 , (Ontario) ,over the last 5 plus years we don’t see accumulation that stays till January. Heck , it’s getting rare to see a white Christmas in southern Ontario. My eldest has a snow plow business that I have filled in for when needed, maybe 4 events last year and probably 6 snow events the year before. She did get a lot of salting lots tho .

Last year Peterborough area had the whitest Christmas that I have ever seen. Days of FOG. Usually on back roads it would drive slowly down the middle because snow is hiding the road. Last year you couldn't see the sides of the road because of fog.

I’ve lived in the GTA all my life ,, Im now 67 years old .. I always remember as a youngster if October and November were above normal temperatures ,, Tabogoning was not going to be good that winter , as there was always going to be much less snow falls 😊

I will give you all a clue... The regions usually at the equatorial line are moving a tiny bit below it. Which means the earth is tilting a leeettil bit. Now, do the math respective to my above theory, and you will understand the weather pattern changes all around the world, be it hot or cold. Basically, regions above the equatorial are getting warmer, and regions below equatorial are getting colder.

Climate change is occuring but not for the reasons you may think. Geoengineering = changing the climate = climate change. They create the problem (warm/cloudy/wet winters), and offer the solution (higher carbon taxes, decreased private rights etc).
