First Descendant pretty good when playing with someone. Solo pretty boring but the game have its highlights. As for ARC Raiders is my most anticipated. PvEvP been my thing since The Division 1. They just need to release ARC Raiders now before GTA6 and more come out next year

I’m still stoked for this game. I’ve no idea what’s going on to delay it but the better it is the better it’ll go for them. Forever winter though is def on my crews list of highly anticipated games though I must say. Industrial 90’s vibes, I mean come on it looks sick AF.

Just so everybody is clear, it was Embark that said they had moved some people over from Arc Raiders leading up to the launch of The Finals. Per Oscar, they have since went back to AR. And both games have equally large teams now working on them.

Arc Raiders was started before The Finals. The whole studio is around 300, 100 devs are dedicated to The Finals afaik. I really hope we have a beta soon.

Appreciate the update even if there's not much news. I thought you were crazy to predict there would be a beta by now, glad you were wrong. :) If they are smart, there will not be a beta soon. Changing the game from PvE to PvPvE sets them back at least 2 years if they are actually going to take the time to properly do it , which I hope they do. I really hope they don't get too influenced by the First Descendant because that game is a grindy cash grab mix of Destiny and Warframe. It's doing well though so I fear as to what might happen in Arc Raiders if the focus becomes about money if/because daddy Nexon says so.

I'm not inflated of my own interest in this game to know the publisher can be a source of problems behind the curtains for the development of a game, regardless of how well the development is going (RIP Life by You). However, seeing that the base game will be free, they spent a lot of time going out physically collecting the geography of the map, building the AI, and then seeing what the release of The Finals was like... I'm going to bet they're taking their time, I don't think a free game sees other releases as much competition. There's a lot of heat in the industry right now, there has been for some time. I bet there will be another test, and we'll see how much polish and balancing went into the build.

Since they announced they are changing the game from PvE to PvEvP, I don't want this game anymore... It was good when there was PvP for the finals and PvE for Arc Raiders.

I kinda agree, as soon as it pivoted to Tarkov instead of Co-op it became significantly harder to sell me on it. I'm excited to try it & hopeful to be proven wrong, but for now I'm happy with THE FINALS & don't see myself getting deep into another game where one sniper round can invalidate your entire multi-hour session.

@Fenvali I agree there should be an option for PvE for casuals but making the game a PvEvP is definitely the move if you want players to keep coming back. I can only kill the same AI enemies so many times before a game gets stale.

Really need em to give up on the games fest launches. Partway thru a pile of 300 other titles is the wrong time to try making an impression. In all the Game Awards coverage, I didnt see a single line about Finals launching, and not even a peep about S3's trailer from the recent summer games fest. Remember when Apex shadow dropped by just going live on twitch on a random tuesday? That's how you do it.

I feel like one thing we defiantly need for certain is a good anti cheat on launch or it will be doomed to fail. because cheaters will ruin this game like they did with the cycle frontier, it was a very similar game being a PvPvE extraction shooter that was quite popular on launch but got flooded with cheaters, and once they fixed the cheater issue, no one wanted to try it again, and some people didn't even know the issue was fixed, then the game died out as player count just kept getting lower and the devs couldn't support the game so it eventually got shut down despite it being an amazing and fun game

Personally, the first trailer gave me such a wonderful feeling, and second trailer didn't. "Enlist. Resist" seems more fit to co-op pve.... But nobody will blame that decision if the game is good to play. As Once human and First Descendamt came out, ARC would have a hard time getting its users when it is released with some problems just like FINALS' open beta or season 1(cheats, frame rates, balance etc.) Being Finals user makes me think about "what is embark doing?" Since there are still lack of atmosphere and concept features, and contents. While wanting ARC raiders to come out with high quality, I also can't let go the finals. Embark can't really greatly handle those two games with good quality, because of studio's size. I perosnally like Nexon not joining the develeopment because of its bm, but I think it is time to get Nexon's help to develop the game.

ykno having seen the Forever Winter game, I'm less and less hyped for Arc Raiders everyday, to me, cretors of FW, FunDog studios have struck game design gold in their goal for the game being PvEvE, without any PvP. If Arc Raiders goes down the path of PvP focused exfil shooter, I fear it may go down the road that The Finals did, just in a much rougher way. As in, it may die out in a couple months' time, but unlike TF which is a casual, easy-to-get-into arena shooter, the hardcore nature of exfil shooters are much easier to let go of and much harder to boot up willy nilly (see: The Cycle: Frontier's fate). The reason I brought up Forever Winter is because it's essentially a version of Arc Raiders that places a lot more emphasis on the E side of PvE, so much so that the main conflict in the game is just EvE. After the announcement of such a game, Arc Raiders is better off going back to their original promise and instead presenting us a PvE focused alternative to FW. It may be unusual hearing me put FW on such a pedestal but having seen the gaming trends for the past half a decade, seeing CO-OP games get the most praise either through several-month-lasting trends of games like HD2 and LC or insanely dedicated fanbases emerge around games like DRG or GTFO, it is in any AA game developer's interest to get onto the CO-OP bandwagon as soon as they possibly can.

@@de-ment I absolutely disagree with the generalisation of how successful co-op PvE games are over PvPvE extraction shooters that are still in their infancy (many are on the way but not a lot already out). As well as bringing up the failure of TCF like it had anything to do with the "lack of excitement/interest" for the genre, opposing reality which is the rushed release of that game. Also, it's such a subjective topic as many will enjoy PvE games while just as many could enjoy PvP(vE) games too. My friends basically only play their beloved (kind of outdated) games and it is extremely hard to get them to try new games (not to mention syncing our free time) hence co-op PvE games are hardly on my most anticipated list for this reason. Extraction shooters (done well) do cater for solos and squads alike. I'm hopeful... Almost certain that AR can do super well in the PvPvE extraction shooter space.

@@Emptyheaded. but Co-op PvE I'd hardly agree to be done in such an group-exclusive experience nowadays, sure games like Lethal Company or even Among Us prior to it are best with friends but games like DRG, HD2, etc. are fun in either solo or public lobbies also. My point here is not anti-exfil shooter either, Forever Winter is marketed as an exfil shooter. My take is more so anti-PvP. A lot of my friends in comparison would rather not have the already rare group session be poisoned by extremely competitive and tryhardy enemy players on PvP titles, most of us nowadays at most play a couple Fortnite matches before the matchmaking kicks in and starts pitting us against real players instead of the bots. Exfil shooters are a great idea on their own but have to be catered to casual players in a way in order to see true mainstream recognition and progress past their infancy, but hardcore mechanics are the center of the genre, if you can't streamline the game and make everything faster, you gotta make the main enemy bots instead of players. Then again, it's the PvP aspect that ruined TCF, it was not a rushed release, it was the inability to keep the game fresh after having dealt with cheaters and meta-abusers for months on end, in that game PvE was the focus all along, dictating the difficulty zones of maps and being the main enemy in most end-game content. It's not only TCF either, in other exfil shooters, the main problem the devs try to tackle in every game is the issue of players boiling down the entire game into a loop of chores and creating metas to push aside any other strategy, be it in tarkov, be it in hunt, be it in any PvP live-service to be made in the past decade.

Pvevp or pvp games are where it’s at, and if games can’t incorporate that then that’s a problem. Not every game has to be a co-op or single player experience. Go play helldivers or the first descendant. Pvevp in arc raiders will be amazing as long as it gets updated and the environment is always changing. It’s 2024, I have yet to see a game other than the finals that was actually unique. You people say there’s a lot of pvp games but where? Go play a roguelike or something, stop watering down a genre because you want to fight computers all day

I just want a cool 3rd person game with a variety of modes INCLUDING and good PVP mode with deep customization.. weapons and all. I dont see how anyone can complain about extraction shooters being an over saturated market when none of them have really broke into a mainstream market. Tarkov and Hunt have relatively small communities, DMZ was an afterthought mode, and every other one has failed right out of the gate. Its fair to just not like the mode, but we havent really gotten a good extraction shooter yet. Making it PvPvE extraction game is more interesting than another PvE shooter in the sea of PvE shooters, but some people just shit on the idea without experiencing it first hand and thats a pretty wack way of thinking

@notsoanonymousmemes9455 It feels like DMZ was created from a checklist (useless looting, terrible AI, one life mechanic, extraction mechanic). That's it. It felt so watered down and missed the entire point of an extraction shooter. The whole focus of the game design needs to be based in the genre, not a spin-off mode like DMZ or Hazard Zone. Tarkov and Hunt have problems too, but at least the whole game is built around the concept of an extraction shooter and not some lazy addition.

Exactly, I look for a good pvp game to play on my ps5 everyday and there are none… the finals is the only good one but it lacks guns. Pvevp in arc raiders should be a breath of fresh air, just look at the game, if it nots clunky, I cannot wait any longer to play arc raiders, they are taking too long. If you want a pve, go play helldivers or the first descendant, or go play a roguelike. Stop ruining visions of games.

nah, it's just money. Their parent company in theri year report said they were unpleased with the Finals numbers. Most likely, Embark just was cut financially and Arc Raiders is just delayed. There was no even a sign about AR in their year report, so basically they didn't think about releasing it.

Just that helldivers was a success does not mean that all the games must be PvE, let embark cook, we will eventually play the game and then can form conclusions about it.

Well let’s see was planned to come out as a PvE game in 2022, didn’t happen changed focused big time in 2023 to PvPvE ( heard rumors that PvP players really liked it and PvE players didn’t enjoy there time due to PvP in a game they were hoping was coop, this was for a early closed acess. ). Now that The First descendants is out and we all know how that’s going, horrid story with terrible dialogue, super grindy, Pay to skip ( might as well be pay to win but no PvP so skip will work ), an overall boring experience that just so mid tier on every level. So now we will see more work on ark raiders, though that doesn’t make since for a dev team to move projects post launch on a live service game that needs work and is getting bits and bobs here and there. So focused seems to still be on The first descendants, meaning where would ark raiders be still in the back log? Game was supposed to come out 2022, but had to be rebuilt to fit the new ideas of PvP, so clearly 2022 -2024 have been making the game I doubt they were able to build the game from the ground up in the new environment they wanted, also let’s not forget that a PvP store market by Nexon is pay to win and microtransactions so hard! Also the game must be made to be playable in china under Chinas strict policies, so I think we’re lucky if we see a trailer this year for the game…

I've just lost interest at this point. The Finals season 3 is beyond lack luster with the whole push dumb melee and gimmick metas. The attempt to make terminal attack the main gamemode etc. I'm just watching from a distance now. Expecting Arc Raiders to have the same treatment as The Finals.
