I always liked Timmie; he seemed to me to be 'the perfect Bruin.' On a team defined by a strong uncompromising work ethic he seemed to stand out for his, which is no small thing. That, plus his obvious and immense talent, made me a fan despite the fact that I'm not a Bruins hockey fan at all. I wish we could have seen him sooner as well as later but I will always admire him for his accomplishments and his demeanour. Tim Thomas always struck me as the type of guy you'd want to be friends with. I wish him all the best!

Why can’t you just say he grew up poor? Economically challenged is so disingenuous and deceptive because guess what? Most white people when Tim grew up in the 80’s and 90’s were poor. Hockeys a damn expensive sport too, so do some additional research and find out who helped Tim out so he could reach his goals and live up to his potential in hockey.
