Kristi Yamaguchi has always been one of my idols. I first heard of her when I was only six years old when I watched her and Kurt Browning on the Aladdin on ice video tape that we had years ago. I remember my father and I always loved watching it and while we were we’d put on roller skates, put the video in and then we would just imitate the moves all around our house. After he passed away from brain cancer six years later, I promised myself that I would try to take skating lessons in honor of that memory. For years though I couldn’t do it because I was struggling with some medical complications. But now that I’ve got them under controlled, I’m finally able to do it. Thank you so much Kristi for inspiring me to never give up on my dreams of becoming a figure skater. I’ve just moved up to basic three I’m so excited. I’m taking a break from skating right now because I’m in a play. But I can’t wait until it’s over so I can get back on the ice again. I miss it so much.

@@Lewismonicadvm The video is all about Kristi Yamaguchi so what do you know if you didn’t care about the placement of the photo showing Michelle Kwan when people are only being curious to know why the photo of Michelle Kwan was shown instead of Kristi Yamaguchi. Would people be bringing up this same issue if the photo of Sarah Hughes with the contents referring to another figure skater be placed below her photo?

Kristi has always been a wonderful role model, a wonderful skater and she still is. I love that she's a mom and so happy to be! I wish her the very best in life and she deserves that. Blessings!

First of all, Kristi was pretty much retired after winning her Olympic gold and defending her 1992 World title. She never competed in 1994 at the amateur level. If she competed, as you claimed, she would have won and there would be no Tonya-Nancy story period.

You don’t say that any figure skater would have won anything. She could have been injured. She could have fallen. But the reality is, she did not compete in the 1994 Olympics, so why pretend she won? She went on to have an amazing professional career, performing and competing as well as in her amateur days. So why pretend that she went into some kind of retirement? She went to work as a serious, hardworking, dedicated professional skater, as most of them did from 1984-1994.
