Another fantastic drone video. I could watch these all day. Love the natural sound. I remember when you did this in 2021 volcano. Sure glad to see them again. Keep up the good work. Thank you.

Thanks for the great update. My easy volcano math is to use roughly 80,000 seconds in a day. At 3 cu M/sec, that is 240,000 cu M a day, or a 1 sq KM area about 0.24M thick, a day. The current southern lava field is roughly 0.5KM wide x 2.0KM long, cone to berm. So it needs to rise, on average about 1/4 of a meter a day, or 7-8M over a 30 day period. Because the lava has been feeding tubes below the crust, that lower area was very quietly raised and much of the field is at a height (10+ M) that now towers above the berms. This was visible for the last month at night with random glowing spots, and during the day with numerous isolated patches of white smokey emissions. With the lake now mostly (?) drained we can see that it was about 4M deep (height of levee walls), so with an estimated surface of 100x200M, or 20,000 sq M, it had a volume of 80,000 cu M, which means that the cone outflow was able to cycle the contents 3 times a day, which explains why it was so incandescent and therefore hot, and thus able to push molten material to the berm 2KM down the slope. The level of both the lake and the cone depend on inflow/outflow rates, so both have likely dropped due to less erupting in the cone. Your video also showed that the large white plume of gases 1/2Km to the north of the cone is still very active over 40 days after the eruption started. Part of me wonders if there isn't lava seeping out underneath the crust and raising this area as well. I wonder if they are doing LIDAR updates for this area as well? It is definitely evidence of very porous rock which may well be the preferred low resistance pathway for a future eruption/ramping up of current eruption. Every day we learn a bit more that we didn't know previously.

Drone footage is becoming an art form! Really beautiful video. Interesting seeing some of the lava forming crusts within the cone, while the cauldron keeps swirling and the spatters shoot so high!

Wow, I had no idea that huge southern rampart/wall had that big step in it inside the cone itself

If it didn’t have that open port at it’s base we’d be seeing a lot of overspill of the cone

That's very gooey lava. Something must block the magma feed to the cone. Perhaps the higher pressure has broken something loose that then caused some blockage. Would be some nice fireworks if it unblocks and the pressure is released. But surely would be no good news for Grindavik. The town should be moved out of the way free of charge for the citizens. Building lava defense walls in an highly active rift valley seems to me like building a water dam right in the ocean.
