And the sad thing is that The creators of Courage The Cowardly Dog and KND actually want to continue their shows and CN is ignoring them. There are actual people giving CN ideas on a silver platter for a show and the network just took matters in their own hands and just made bullshit reboots that no one asked for

... Cartoon Network hasn't announced any reboots in over a year. All of the recent shows they've announced (OK KO, Craig of the Creek, Apple & Onion, Summer Camp Island) have all been original shows. I'm even starting to think that CN has acknowledged that people have hated the PPG 2016 reboot - they air new episodes on a Sunday death slot without even advertising them now.

SYNDICAIDRAMON Every day since the 2015 rebrand 2 years ago. Even then...that was part of the channel's motif. Baby Boomers, a throwback channel, and old cartoons from that era? *Boomer*ang. That said, though, it could definitely do with the 90's and 00's cartoons as those old toons you can just as easily watch nowadays through DVD or whatever at this rate, whereas those era of cartoons....they're either getting the shaft from the Network, or CN just takes no care in reviving/rebooting their own shows, to the point where Adult Swim, their late-night block is now just being considered its own separate thing from the Network.

For awhile there, Boomerang was playing 90's-2000's cartoons in the afternoons. From like, 2013 to 2015 they were airing the original Teen Titans and old episodes of Pokemon, among other things. Then they updated the channel out of the blue and all of those shows got thrown out along with the Hanna-Barbera stuff...

I honestly preferred when Boomerang was 80's and prior only. It used to have Looney Tunes, Popeye, Yogi, the old Batman cartoon, the only Superman cartoon, Pink Panther, etc. Back when they did that, CN wasn't afraid to air older CN shows on the main channel. So everything got shown.

While Nickelodeon seems to be recovering from network decay (though they still need to phase out Dan Scheinder), Cartoon Network seems to be stuck in a rut with Toddler Teens Go, shady business practices of splitting seasons of a show in half as an excuse to make it have more seasons and of course the subject of this video. It's kinda sad that CN has had the biggest downfall in recent memory.

Because it seems the people of KZbin would rather have something to look at while watching instead of simply listening to what he has to say. Whereas other users use actual copyrighted clips when talking about subjects like this, PieGuy does not, and as a result, he is not as popular. To most people on this site, it does not matter how well you present the subject, if you don't have the actual visuals to go with it, then they will have no patience watching it, and thus is why we have overrated reviewers like Vailskibum94 and Mr. Enter.

It sucks that a lot of older shows are no longer aired. I discovered Ed Edd n Eddy through reruns they had on the channel back in 2011, which something like that would obviously never happen on the modern network. Regular Show is also completely gone after it aired the finale, Adventure Time is also pretty gone aside from new episodes. really sucks.

What I think I liked best about the classic era of CN was the general crossover of it all. I'm a major proponent for crossovers due in large part to Cartoon Network's longstanding use of them in the older bumpers. Heck, it's part of why I love Smash Bros. so much, as an aside note. Wanna see Frankie Foster snarking at Ben 10 when he wipes out in one of his alien forms? How about Lazlo of Camp Lazlo singing Bloo a huge musical number about all the great things you can find at Cartoon Network? Or how about the Mayor of Townsville throwing a plastic bag away and it flying all over the city as we watch the characters just living their everyday lives and how the bag has the tiniest impact such as Grim getting the bag caught in his face which saves him from the KND dropping a water balloon, the bag scaring Shaggy and Scooby as they investigate a dark alley, foiling the Eds attempts to get a picture of a UFO, which was Duck Dodgers' ship, ultimately ending on Megas XLR's radio antennae? Because they did that, too, and so much more. And that's all CN City era stuff, this isn't even getting into how there were two separate times where Scooby Doo and Courage naturally crossed over, one where Courage has a nightmare Shaggy and Scooby dress up as monsters to muscle him off the network and another where Scooby and the Gang met Eustace, Muriel, and Courage and told stories when they had to stay the night after the Mystery Machine broke down in a huge marathon of both shows. Or the time a variety of the Cartoon Cartoons hosted a Halloween edition of Cartoon Cartoon Fridays and we had the likes of Chicken, Blossom, Johnny Bravo and a few others interacting through the night. And of course there's the great intro to Cartoon Network Fridays with that great song as the camera pans through the building as TOO MANY CAMEOS AND CHARACTER REFERENCES GET MASHED INTO ONE SUPER CATCHY SONG! And that's part of what made the 20th anniversary so awesome was just how they went back to that well and did a bunch of crossover bumps. Like one where a number of the networks' stars were driving in their respective vehicles starting with Fred and Barney in their prehistoric foot powered car leading to the Mystery Machine and ultimately Mordecai and Rigby in one of the golf carts as they crash into Fred and Barney or how they parodied the dogs playing poker picture and had Gumball pop in trying to point it out before leaving because of the dogs v. cats deal or how they did the one bumper where Fred unmasked a trio of classic Scooby villains revealing them as comparable characters from other shows and Scooby unmasked himself to reveal himself to be Dukey from Johnny Test. And the really big party bumper where various characters just interacted like Eustace and Muscle Man or Velma and Lion-o and it ended with Daffy and Bugs taking a group photo. Honestly, if I were in charge, I'd want to be super ambitious with a retro cartoon block and do crossovers of a similar nature in tiny bumps with the newer shows and the older ones. Have the old Teen Titans make fun of the new ones, have the Eds trying to scam Steven, Scooby Doo afraid of Panda and vice versa, just something like that. I adore crossovers because of this network, so I would want to do SOMETHING with the idea of crossovers again, since part of Cartoon Network's charm was how they had all these characters who were so interesting and entertaining and having them meet each other was just the icing on the cake, and their newer shows would be just as fun to have added to the madness. Kinda a short answer as I just described a bunch of bumpers, but I just wanted to share my thoughts and explain why I love crossovers so much because of how these bumpers were so varied and amazing because of how they mixed and matched universes on a whim and it was always funny to see these characters and how they interact.

I absolutely agree! As someone who grew up in the early 2000s, stuff like Boomerang and Nicktoons was the only way I could be exposed to older, better shows. Thank you Pieguy. I've been waiting for other people to say this for years. Cartoon Network has been the only kids/cartoon channel to neglect and not fully utilize its older properties. Nick has launched The Splat and are doing faithful revivals of some of their older properties, Disney has started airing reruns of their 90s-2000s sitcoms at night, and all CN has done are a couple crappy and unfaithful reboots. The only shows they rebooted were, of course, the ones that sold the most merch. Though CN's older properties weren't as mainstream as Disney's or Nick's, they were still immensely popular and probably maintain the largest passionate and niche audience currently. The network unfortunately continues to dig themselves into a hole. They could be making so much more money by paying attention to an audience they ignore, rather than maximizing the airtime of their most popular current shows.

I remember a few years ago when Nickelodeon was the one fucking up and Cartoon Network was the one pumping out success. Oh how times have changed. Jokes aside, the biggest thing the network needs to improve is the scheduling. I know Teen Titans GO is their biggest success and all, but that's partially because it's practically the only thing they air nowadays. You don't need to cancel it, just balance out the air time with their original shows. Airing the older stiff would be a nice touch just to give the schedule more variety.

I've always seen Boomerang as a sort of museum for older cartoons. I tend to think of things that are at least a decade old or older, from really old things like The Jetsons or The Flintstones to the gems of the 90s/early 00s like PPG and Dexter's Lab. Last I checked their schedule, however, shows like TTG (which really does not need more airtime) and Sonic Boom were airing on it. While preserving the cartoons of the 90s and 00s is certainly important, I feel like a great deal of CN's current shows need saving too. Going off of the cnschedulearchive tumblr, getting variety on the channel has been a struggle and, the way I see it, any show that does not perform quite up to par gets their time slot sacrificed to the resident deity of cancerous television. In other words, shows aren't given much time to prove that they are of quality, and thus get pushed aside in favor of TTG or some other higher-rated show. I may check again but I think they got rid of that over a year ago. And, apart from Xmas 2015, the only classic cartoons I remember them having were Ducktales and Kim Possible, both of which are available in some form elsewhere.

The Cartoon Network City Era is my favorite of the Eras (being the one I'm most familiar with), having all the Cartoon Characters of the time living in this City composed of various Locations and Landmarks of Shows, Interacting with one another was an Awesome Idea. It would be cool if they made a New Cartoon Network City.

Sadly, modern CN would never logically think to do something like the Splat, because their vision's clouded by greed, and the people there LOVE to play the favorites game a LOT when it comes to programming nowadays - They don't care about things like Ed, Edd, and Eddy or Foster's, CN only cares about its reboots and We Bare Bears. And sure, you have Boomerang, which did serve as a Splat... in the past. Nowadays, Boomerang only cares about mediocre at best and shit at worst CG shows, Tom and Jerry, Scooby-Doo, and Looney Tunes, which aren't the kind of shows people want to see on there. THOSE would be Courage and KND, which many people, including their creators, WANT to see come back to the air, but NOOOOOO. Gotta have that Ben 10/ PPG reboot and Tom and Jerry/ Scooby-Doo ad spam! There's just no hope for Boomerang or CN at this point. Let me tell you this; you know you've fucked up when Nickelodeon, which used to be the most hated of the four big animation channels, actually cares about their fans' feelings and what they want, and is legitimately doing better than you in most ways, if not every way.

I wanna say, that this is one of the ways that Brazilian cn is better that the us cn. Not only they have reruns of some old shows like KND,Dexter´s lab and foster´s home (Although they play like very late at night, probably cause they dont have adult swim),there also an entire an entire side channel named tooncast that only play their old shows (plus some Hanna Barbera ones) and it even has some of the older bumpers and promotional material. Honestly,I dont wanna sound to patriotic but brazilian cn is wayyy better than the us one in almost every way,I mean not only the schedule is more fair, with lots of reruns to several shows, and no show is giving an absurd amount of reruns more that another, but they also have promotional material with lots of creativity, which is not as good as the ones that came before, but a lot better than the ones us cn have now.they have like talkshows where this Brazilian celebrity interview some cartoon characters, this this where an narrator recaps what happened on the new episodes aired on that week, and makes jokes and observations about with, and even lets play videos with the Brazilian voice actors of modercai and rigby acting in character, they are all on cn brazil´s KZbin Chanel, and I wanna say check out some of it,even if you don´t understand it,it´s quite interesting on itself.I almost always prefer the original dub of a show to it´s Brazilian dub,but besides that I think Brazil´s cn is better thant it´s north american counterpart in almost every way.

As far I know, A Cartoon Cartoons-like segment is (or was, idk) showing on CN-Mexico. What's the catch? it's 2 hours, on 4 am. Then there is Tooncast, a channel full of Cartoon Cartoons and others. And yeah, the idea of being able to watch things like Adventure Time (2010), TF:Animated, Chowder(2007), TGAo Billy & Mandy(2003), Sheep in the big city(2000) and many others in the same channel is very sweet.

Maybe they can bring back "Har Har Tharsdays" on Thursdays. Not sure how they'd pull it off, but it's an idea. Best way I can think of is just pull a SNICK and recreate the original lineup. Maybe not for the entire block (if I remember correctly, it was only a 2 hour thing) but maybe have it during the first two hours of the block or something.

You have good ideas but you gotta take into consideration the time we're living in now. We live in a post-smartphone/ internet boom. Meaning that everyone is slowly moving away from TV and just getting internet to satisfy their entertainment needs. Also the kids that grew up watching CN are now in their 20s and would rather go out and be with their friends than watch a bunch of cartoons on friday night. That's why Korra tanked in the ratings, Nick tried to broaden the Korra demographic by airing it on friday nights but failed because nobody was watching it. Then they said "Screw it, air it online." Also this generation of kids are all on their smartphones and are probably using Netflix, Hulu or maybe torrenting to get their fix. I've seen babies open their parents tablets for Gods sakes. Another thing is that people would rather have a full season right in front of them than wait a week for one episode of their favorite show. No offense but this is just a pipe dream, you have pure intentions and I like your ideas but it's not possible anymore. Like how cable wiped out Saturday morning cartoons, the internet will wipe out Tv, but that's just my 2 cents. I could be wrong.

Ryan Ozog One time, I was at this sushi restaurant and I was sitting next to this baby. He kept staring at me and waved hi to him. I then wanted to see what would happen if I showed my phone to the baby. Sure enough, the babies eyes were glued to the phone, no matter where I swung it, the baby would follow. It kinda shocked me when I did that.

I have an even worse story. At a game store during a card game Draft, I saw a couple 5 to 7 year old girls watching a spooky shooter game video on a tablet. Later when they switched to playing with they're toys I heard them shouting "Die!" and "I'll kill you!" As if parents bringing they're kids to a place with heavy profanity using gamers wasn't shocking enough!

Ehh. as much as I loved the old shows and bumpers and all that. it's kinda pointless to air those on TV. Especially when you can watch all of those things on youtube or any other site that has those at anytime. I don't know. I don't have the same connection with TV as much as I used to... and it's not because of what they have on there these days. it's just... why ask for a network to give you a nostalgia trip, when there's always online? it's completely main stream at this point.

Man... I don't always agree with your line of thinking, but I absolutely agree with this, honestly when I had cable I watched Nicktoons more than nickelodeon for this very same idea. Yeah, the network shoved out planet sheen Fanboy and Chum-chum and even (shivers) breadwinners, but that was a price worth paying for Avatar and Penguins and Cat Dog to be on the same channel that didn't have nothing but garbage sitcoms on it. I don't even necessarily think that you would have to run an adults angle to make this idea work beautifully, just have boomerang run a block based on different decades: 5-9 run newer shows from the parent network, 10-1 show cartoons from the 60s/70s, 2-6 show the classic cartoons from the 90s and 2000s, from 7-12 show classic toonami and then from midnight to 4 show classic adult swim. somewhere in there you could even have a cartoon cartoon style show on at primetime on friday showing the "best" of all the decades as voted by fans online. I'd start up my cable package in a heartbeat if they did something like this.
