That sounds misleading to me. His comment about Worf not holding a command is based on the fact that he & Dax had a very important mission to retrieve an informant that had significant information on every founder in the Alpha quadrant and that could probably save millions of lives. So, once Dax is hurt & cannot continue, it is still Worf's duty to get it done but the further he got away from Dax, the harder it become to leave her (this is understandable for anyone who has been in love) & so he disobeyed direct orders & probably got millions killed & cost Starfleet all of the information he had. Felt like that needed to be clarified as it pertained to just how much he gave up, which totally goes against what they are supposedly taught in order to have a command position...Sisko, being who he is does tell him that if it was his ex-wife laying there dying, he too probably would have done the same thing (though, honestly, it seems like he eventually gets his own command anyway though I may be remembering that part incorrectly.

I think is a little early. The original 1701 was launched in 2245, and she was a frontline vessel at least until 2275 (the end of the never shown "Phase II" quinquennial mission that started with the V'ger crisis). Probably even further, considering that after the 2271 refit (ST:TMP) she was the more advanced vessel in the fleet. In 2285 (ST:II) we find her as a training vessel, with Spock in command, probably by some years at that point. So, probably, the ship remained in active duty more or less until the 2275/2280: overall 30/35 years. In 2399, Enterprise-E is only 27 years old.

If Starfleet operates like most modern navies today, then it's likely that the Enterprise, if it hasn't been destroyed, is under the command of an entirely new command crew. Promoting within the crew to leadership positions has a way of affecting operations in any military in a detrimental way. The fact that senior officers didn't change for (canonly) a decade is actually an extremely odd situation in any military, however allowances can be made for that considering long term deep space exploration is supposed to be a starship's mission (even if the Enterprise rarely did that and spent pretty much the entirety of TNG running around Federation space putting out brush fires instead of boldly going anywhere). The fact that they managed to keep the command staff together and assigned to the E would be unheard of, considering how long it took to build the new ship. Any organization that just lets its personnel sit around collecting a paycheck while waiting for a new assignment that long would be pretty poorly run.

Worf becoming captain of the Enterprise seems a bit odd to me seeing the events of the DS9 episode "Change of Heart". At the end of that episode Captain Sisko informed Worf it was unlikely he would ever be offered a command of his own. So yeah it is not ruled out but for that reason he does not seem that likely of a option. I also think you overlooked an option. Beverly Crusher. A deleted scene of Nemesis said she would leave the Enterprise but that was not actually in the movie. Even if she did leave the Enterprise she could still have been assigned to Enterprise as captain after Picard got promoted to Admiral. Also seeing Data died during Nemesis I could imagine her to decide to stay aboard to support her long time friend Jeac Luc. Maybe even as Jean Luc's first officer. Just as with La Forge, Doctor Crusher has been shown as Captain of her own ship (the USS Pasteur) in an alternate time line as seen in the Final TNG episode "All Good things". Furthermore during TNG there have been instances were it was shown Crusher liked being in command the times that she got the chance on the Enterprise D, revealing she does have command ambitions. So yeah I think she could be a viable option for being in command of the Enterprise E during Picard and probably a more likely option than Worf. Although I do think La Forge would be a plausible option as well.

My money is also on Worf having commanded the Enterprise at some point. Based on the comments Jonathan Farkes gave in an interview, Riker and Troi appear to be retired or have left Starfleet so I don't think Riker ever got command of the Enterprise. My feeling is based on the things we seen and heard about the show, none of the TNG main characters are still active in Starfleet. I feel that's one of the reasons he appears to go rouge as there is no one left in Starfleet that he has very close ties to. I'm also hypothesizing that Beverly Crusher *may* be dead. Out of surviving six TNG main characters, Beverly was the one who had the longest history and personal friends (not to mention latent romantic feelings) and allegedly at Steel City Comic Con on Fri. Aug 9, Gates McFadden confirmed she has not been asked to return.

Being that this is ultimately a military ship it is most likely that it captain is brought in from outside. You do not promote senior officers for junior officers when you have captains available. Also when you are promoting a senior officer to Captain they would generally move him to another ship because there is a familiarity with the other officers that could cause a problem. If there is a shortage of available captains a senior officer could be promoted to command the Enterprise but most of the crew would then be replaced.

If you recall, the Kevlin Universe was sparked by the event of Nero in the prime universe. These events were explored in the prequel graphic novel, Star Trek: Countdown, which came out in 2009. In that story, Picard is an Ambassador, and the Enterprise-E is under the command of Captain Data (now fully cognizant in the body of B4, after his memory transfer was complete). Picard and Data battle Nero briefly before watching his ship get sucked into a time warp. While it's possible that the prequel comic will not be adhered to (I've always thought of it as canon, but who knows now?), it's important to remember that the graphic novel was co-authored by Kurtzman, and as he's leading the Star Trek television series, it's possible that many of those elements are going to crossover into this new show. It's also possible that events have been shifted slightly, and Picard is still captain at the time of Romulus's destruction. Perhaps Data/B4 is lost in those events, which sparks Picard to resign, as he could not sacrifice for his friend in the same way he had for him before. But, who knows? If that's all true (to an extent), and Data/B4 is gone or still cruising...than the question remains, who is in the drawer in the trailer? My money is on Lore.

While we're on the subject, was it ever stated where the E was during the Dominion War?
@bccooper24185 жыл бұрын
10TailBeast the 7th, 8th and 9th films take place during the DS9 run on TV. We know that after the Enterprise D was destroyed in the 7th film, Worf joins DS9. We see Worf as Captain of the Defiant during the 8th film, fighting against the Borg before it gets damaged and Worf and the Defiant crew are beamed aboard the newly Enterprise E. (A missed opportunity for Chief Miles O’Brien to come back to the Enterprise one more time as he was once the transporter Chief on the Enterprise D and then got promoted to the Chief Engineer of both DS9 and the Defiant). I believe the 9th film takes place during the middle of the Dominion War and it was stuck in the “briar patch” during its time in the film. My best guess would be as the flag ship of the fleet, it was used to keep the federation secure along its borders and inside its space. I do believe it took a part in the liberation and saving of the planet of Betazoid after it had become taken over by the Dominion. I think a novel was written about that? That’s all I have. Does Anyone else have anything to add to this information?

Okay, this is a bit lengthy, but what I think is the most plausible story is that B4 (the long lost brother of Data from ST:Nemesis) eventually assimilated all the memories and personality traits of the original Data as he begun to at the end of the film. Though it initially caused a split in personality, the B4 programming ultimately deleted itself and allowed the new Data personality to basically take over, essentially reincarnating Data. However, since the original Data possessed the emotion chip, the reincarnated Data lacked this feature. Seeing the new Data as the same as the original (as if he actually survived the explosion), Starfleet reinstated the rank and privileges of the original. When Picard was promoted to admiral, he did leave the Enterprise (which was undergoing a refit at the time) and placed Data as the new captain. Due to a critical situation involving a massive rift to Fluidic Space, Captain Data is sent on his first assignment as the Enterprise is relaunched several months before her refit is complete. The Enterprise crew is credited with sealing the rift, which was the size of a small moon, and threatened an entire sector of the Klingon Empire's territory. Shortly after, Geordi La Forge was promoted and given his own command of a starship. In a tie in comic series titled: "Countdown to Star Trek" (2009), we see Captain Data and the Enterprise E play a key role in assisting Ambassador Spock in stopping the Hobus Supernova, which had destroyed Romulus and threatened the rest of the quadrant. It should also be noted that in this story, Geordi La Forge was one of the engineers who helped build the Jellyfish ship. In their attempt to assist Ambassador Spock, the Enterprise came to a showdown with the distraught and embittered Romulan miner Nero and his borg-modified Narada. In the battle it was revealed that Nero had mortally wounded Worf, and coerced Data and the Enterprise to lower their shields to transport him over. Once they did, Nero opened fire on the Enterprise, hitting it's main systems and disabling the ship. Nero then jumped to warp in pursuit of Spock. The engineering team managed to "duck tape" the ship back together to chase after Nero, only to arrive in time to witness Spock and Nero both getting pulled into the black hole the Red Matter had created. A few years later, Admiral Picard was promoted yet again and became an ambassador to Vulcan, which was a wise choice given Picard's good relations he held with the Vulcans. Picking up from Star Trek: Online, it was revealed that the destruction of Romulus had essentially destroyed the Romulan Star Empire and cause a mass power struggle across the Alpha and Beta Quadrant. New and old enemies alike saw this instability as an opportunity to expand and conquer. In 2408, the Enterprise was sent to investigate the loss of contact with Starbase 236. During this investigation, the Enterprise is ambushed by a fleet of Species 8472 ships, which had emerged from a Fluidic Space rift. Severely outmatched, the Enterprise was ultimately destroyed. However, most of the crew, including Captain Data, escaped and survived. With the new Odyssey Program in the works, the first Odyssey Class starship built was christened with the name "Enterprise NCC-1701-F". Captain Data resigned from active duty and took up teaching at Oxford. Ambassador Picard retired from Starfleet and returned to his roots by taking up his family's vineyard. The command of the New Enterprise F was given to Andorian Captain Shon and the Enterprise F was launched on the eve of a new Federation/Klingon war.

Some movies have been added with scenes that were never in the original Theatrical version, but added later, some vice versa... On that basis, please deliver us a clear lists which Movies, based on scenes-cut, are not canon ...or added are not canon. Does this make sense: A scene were some Starfleet personnel are shown (in the Movie) sitting in a conference room, having a conversation, then they are shown leaving through the doors. Another version is where they are SHOWN (in the Movie) to enter the room, having a conversation, then shown leaving through the doors. The first example is the one where the entering-scene was cut = NOT canon, by your judgement, yet they are show in the room... where they present in the room since they were born there? IF the Countdown comics, and by extension the STO time frame are still canon then yeah the Enterprise-E should still be in service, continuing being the flagship of the federation with or without Picard, and yeah it should be captained by the new Data in B4's body. However, I'm not as convinced they're going to keep that canon as some others are so we'll see. I'm sure we'll see the Enterprise, or at least an Enterprise at one point as a cameo appearance one way or another, it's too important a part of Picard's overall narrative to leave out entirely; but it kind of seems like they want this to be more about Picard on his own. Like, from what they've shown it seems to be a lot about what his character is about, trying to rediscover his own meaning to it all in a post-Starfleet life.

My money is on Geordi Laforge as Captain. First of all, after the events of a particular episode of DS9, Worf will most likely never rise above the rank of Commander (long story short, he was forced to pick between saving his wife, Jadzia Dax and saving a Federation asset during the Dominion War...he chose his wife, but Captain Sisko put a note in his file stating that he believed Worf should never be promoted to command). Also he is the Federation ambassador to the Klingon Empire. He is one of the few men that both the Klingons and Federation trust in that role and he is very good at it. Data has little experience in command. He is good at analyzing a situation and sizing it up. He lacks the element of instinct that a captain needs. Introducing an unknown character at this point could work, but if Picard is cruising around as an Admiral, it would make sense to keep characters around that he knew in key command positions.

It would only make sense that the sovereign class would be the next "work horse" like the Excelsior. It's big enough to do everything required as necessary that an Excelsior would be supposedly able to do. The vessel is the fastest vessel at the time in Starfleet, much like the Excelsior was. The vessel isn't designed like the Galaxy for "families." It has the necessary components for almost any aspect, whether it is scientific, exploratory or as an escort. It can also transport important ambassadors or can hold diplomatic meetings on the ship. Also, importantly, it's Starfleet creating a vessel that is a response to the Klingon Empire's Negh'Var Class in the same way the Excelsior was Starfleet's response to the Klingon's Refit K'Tinga class. On top of all that, after the original two were upgraded, the Sovereign was useful in situations where the Federation needed to show its teeth which is what it was meant for in the first place & that is being a deterrent considering it is easily more powerful than the vessels of the Romulans & Klingons. Peace through strength and all of that. Also, I imagine the Federation doesn't want to be caught on its heels again like it was with the Dominion & having exploratory ships that still have a strong capability of defending itself seems paramount. Considering Starfleet needing to rebuild its fleet after the war, the Sovereign, being a jack of all trades type of vessel as well as being the strongest class in the quadrant, it would be a waste not to mass produce the design. Personally, I've always thought that Starfleet vessels should just have hidden combat capabilities so that while its vessels look like peaceful ships for the most part, they are capable of deploying multiple weapons arrays that contain torpedo launchers & heavy energy cannons.

You’re forgetting that when Worf abandoned his mission to retrieve the Catdassian double agent to save Dax Sisco said he’d likely never get a comand of his own, let alone command of the flag ship.

They wouldn't launch The Enterprise F if the E is still in service.

they couldn't rebuild the ship in 20 years time?

@@curious-homebody Yes they can with the advance robotics they have acquired it take them about 3 - 5 year per ship depending on engine model and final design don't forget The Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards if voyager was built there so were many other classes of ships

For everyone saying about Worf not being able to be captain, don't forget that he has command of the Defiant during First Contact (which is adrift, but not dead). So it is possible he could become captain. Sisko is not around anymore and the lil ship needs an outright Captain.

Weird that the Enterprise E is probably old and surpassed by now. I hope STP doesn't make a terrible enterprise F, that will really annoy the fandom. Get Doug Drexler on board or we'll end up with Discovery style garbarggee. If the E is still around it would be nice to see it seperate and figure out where the hidden impulse engine might be.

These comics are a dumb idea. The history should slowly be revielved within the show it's self. Can you imagine if they made a comic book series before TNG came out in 1987 telling us everything that happened after Star Trek 4 the Voyage home up until the 1701-D launced?

Actually, if done the right way..sure!
@nagsdeadfilms70245 жыл бұрын
@@johndesalvo3969That's not how you draw out mystery and suspense. I'd rather go into watching Picard with no clue as to what exactly happened after the last TNG film and have it slowly filled in as the show progresses. They could write a show bible that would have rules as to what could be revealed and what story lines are forbidden ultil later seasons. That is how you hold an audience. As long as you don't draw it out to long.

While I'd like to see Worf as Captain it's also possible his service record would prevent that. As when he went back to save Jadzia, Sisko told him this could likely prevent him from receiving a command position in the future.

It's due to his service record that Worf would not have been promoted to captain ever, let alone be given the Enterprise. Sisko said that Worf would never be considered for command after certain events in the series transpired.
