Where is the Simpsons: Hit & Run Remaster?

The Simpsons: Hit & Run is an awesome game. I have so much nostalgia for it and to this day I find myself popping it in to screw around.
It's a ton of fun, but it sucks that there's no way to play it on anything but 6th generation hardware.
This game is just BEGGING to be remade, and it would benefit from a remake way more than other fan favorites. So what's holding it back?

I think the game needs to be remade in certain aspects rather than remastered. 1) Joining all the maps up to each other and adding changing weather systems would be cool to make Springfield more immersive. 2) Adding extra missions would allow more original characters to be showcased. There are so many greats that are only cameos or flat out missing from the OG game. It could also allow for a greater variety of missions. 3) More cars and costumes would be great. 4) I reckon it would also be interested if an option to change characters at certain points in the game would be interesting, like in Arkham City. 5) Honestly, I wouldn’t update the graphics too much. There is a very nice art style and charm to what there is already. Maybe there could be a bit of a “shine” added to them, but I don’t think they should change up too much, as it could rob the game of its charm.

Option 1: Just a really good remaster is perfectly acceptable! Option 2: A remake would need a few things. 1: Extra missions. 2: Fixed camera. 3: Fully connected maps. (people have made a mod of this) 4: A touch up on the graphics, like new facial expressions. (also, I don't want the graphics to look like the Simpsons game because it's a bit of an eyesore) There's only one thing I would not change. The car control. That I would leave as is.

I hope Hit & Run can get that SpongeBob treatment but I just want to mention El Gato Del Tejado on KZbin who is remastering the hell out of the game to point that they a reanimating cutscenes to be like the Show. Mad props to them especially for being a one-man project they deserve as much attention as they can get

I agree, like it is a shame how The Simpsons hit & run is still stuck on the older consoles and also stuck on pc disc too while SpongeBob himself. Finally gets his very good and old game aka battle of the bikini bottom to newer consoles and even on steam too which it would be cool to see The Simpsons get their older game to the modern consoles and even on to steam also.

It’s a long shot but what if there’s a chance that it might get remade maybe it might be announced for the games 20th anniversary in 2023 GTA trilogy was for GTA 3 20th anniversary goldeneye remastered was announced for the 25th anniversary if im not mistaken maybe stellar entertainment the studio that remastered burnout and need for speed could be the one behind it and so far it seems like EA has been listening to the fans

Not gonna lie I don't really think a remake or remaster is necessary, we already have a pc version of the game with a modding community actively making stuff for it. Also Cosmic Shake isn't a sequel to BFBB, it's just another game, people call it a spiritual successor but honestly I don't agree with that either

I would love to have an open world simpsons game, but if I really think about it it would be kind of boring. Like, it wouldn’t make sense for Homer to k!l1 people like in GTA. So what do you do? Just roam around Springfield? I don’t know I have mixed up feelings about it.

Its a great game but hit and run will never be remade for the following reasons 1. Apu played a big part in the original games story however because he's now been cancelled by woke culture I can't see him returning ever again not even in a cameo role. 2. The game was made by a activision company which no longer is in business the same people what made crash of the titans I think. 3. Lastly EA owns the simpsons games Licence and won't make anything except the simpsons tapped out for phones if the game was remade it would have microtranscations up the ass.

Issue with this game is that it will NEVER be remade since EA would rather use Tapped Out as the pinnacle of the Simpsons games than this. And if EA is at the helm I sure as hell will believe that they will attempt to resell it at full price but with bugs and micro transactions out the ass

I've been wanting this game to be ported to modern consoles since the past x360/ps3 era alongside achievements and maybe even online multiplayer for the bonus races if the netcode is even good. I heavily agree they should have the camera to be more diagonal similar to GTA SA/4/5's. That would be very useful to have. Probably maybe add more cool moves other than kicking probably, I think that would make the combat less boring. If they could, I really wouldn't mind new extra missions as well as more small easter eggs. And heck, they can actually connect the entire map now instead of splitting now that technology has improved compared to 2003. I feel a lot creativity would go into that. As well as improving on more better facial expressions when characters are talking in-game like the BFBB remake did. I'd personally go for the cel-shaded look or something similar that would look more appealing but at least would capture the show's artstyle without it being too jarring. Probably forgot other things but that's what I would love to see if it were to get a remake. I'd even pay $40 for the whole game.

The problem with it EA owns the Simpsons licenses for video games that stopped hit and run 2. And it stopped hit and run being made until contract expires. Then when it does expire Disney would to approve Activision well now Microsoft would want to remastered hit run. The Chances are very low.

I was born in 2005, kinda hits different realizing this game released 20 years ago and was a big part of my childhood and gaming journey as a whole. It definitely needs a good remake, which won't happen with modern day Activision, sadly.

@@bnsyphotography2104 yeah, I got a PS2 when I was like 3 years old or something. Along with it came plenty of games including this one. I actually got to play GTA games, but was heavily restricted obviously and only got to play it because of my car interest. The open world and radio, felt like a whole other universe, and it set my music taste too, or at least a big part of it. Hit and Run was GTA without the adult violence, so it was heavily preferred of course and I loved it as well. Shame they never made a sequel for later console generations, as a kid that would've been perfect. But the next revolutionary game i remember playing was GTA IV. The driving and the graphics and the world atmosphere.. just wow.. it felt like I was playing and directing a movie haha.

Since Simpsons a are up to 30+ seasons in there series they can put more onto hit and run then what they had on there since 2003 n if they have more character goin onto probably a remake or remastered they’ll be more then 20 mission or 30+ more side quests or so on but if they do all that then who knows when they’ll release a day with a simpsons having more map more areas to explore more missions more side quest n have online crazy crazy fun adventures n who knows maybe it be 9/10 for every1 to have so much exploring to have on 1 game that it probably be a whole lot better then GTA5 online but that’s my theory of what I would call a great awesome hit n run of all time game n if they brought simpsons hit n run to classic PS+ we’ll we still have enough fun for a game since it would be coming to a PS+ classics near us

Where is the Remaster?! More like where is the modern day remake of this legendary game with upgraded graphics, character creation, open world capabilities, races, easter eggs and of course make it similar to GTA in terms of doing whatever you want outside of the main story missions. I'd love to be able to create my own character and rampage in springfield. Whoever owns the rights to the Simpson's franchise and games is doing the world an incredible disservice by not making any more major games similar to Hit & Run. forget about a remaster of an already established game, make a sequel or better yet some new type of game that's three times better than this one.

The last bit about Disney is sadly cope tbh. I am coping too. Reasons why: 1) Disney doesn’t care who works on their games. After all they work with EA (who is arguably worse then Activision). The same EA who is currently making Disney bank off of “The Simpsons: Tapped Out.” The same EA that *almost* lost the StarWars license for the backlash they received for Disney owned property, “Star Wars BattleFront II.” Personally don’t think “Simpsons Hit & Run” 2 or Remastered will happen. 2) Not cause the company that made Hit & Run doesn’t exist anymore, but because Apu played a major role in the game and the creatives behind the Simpson’s are dead set on never bringing him back again. :(

The demand is there. The nostalgia bug makes gamers do crazy things, like pay inflated prices for remastered versions of their favourite games from times gone by (not saying that's a healthy thing for the industry perse, but its reality as of 2023). And given the current state of the show, I highly doubt they'd be willing to do it given how they removed Apu due to political correctness, and having him as a featured playable character in the game would be a major factor as to why they would turn down the idea. It sucks they just been milking Tapped out since forever and haven't felt the need for more games on the Simpsons. Guess these companies can get kind of lazy when they have a outcome source. But hey, there is a fan made remake being worked on, with the developer is trying hard to do things like remake the cut scenes to be animated like the show and just be a proper remake, now if this remake won't be taken down like yet another fan remake, that's time that will tell. But yea, at this point I just kind of accepted there won't be a new Simpsons game for a long time, so I am also making my own Simpsons themed games. Guess we can work our way around these things in the long run.

They can’t remake it because Apu is integrated in too much and the woke mob has made it so we can’t have nice things. They’d have to redo heavy segments and cut out all the Apu parts, at that point you’re just short changing your audience.
