Hi Tara. Could you also do an episode on how to expand one's vocal range? Also, since Altos seem to be kind of neglected in this world, could you do an episode on how Altos can make their voice more interesting, something that will make them sound reaally special and unique in contrast with the other ranges like the more popular Soprano. Im guessing Altos can make themselves really stand out by having unique textures. I can think of Eabha Mcmahon from Celtic Woman. Please listen to her singing Danny Boy. Anyway, this is a wish. I'm sure Altos can offer something very unique and refreshing if we will just be wise about it.

@pipocasmith92224 жыл бұрын
i was told, for some reason, the notation on piano is one octave higher. not really sure why, but the american notation seem to consider the same note one octave lower. so, i'd say, in this context, both A5 and A6 are the same
@blackcoffeguzzler4 жыл бұрын
@@pipocasmith9222 I figured that was the reason. Still might be super confusing for people in the context of vocals, though
@b-mansbunnies37744 жыл бұрын
It's cause the new octave starts at A not C 🤷♂️ So like it goes G5, G#5, A6 lol
@lonewaer4 жыл бұрын
It's scientific notation vs latin notation. As someone who's been taught piano for 10+ years, and being in a latin country, I personally used latin, and the octave number doesn't matter, it's not being referred to, really, at least in the context of playing an instrument ; I don't think it has anything to do with the instrument. Going up, it's G5, A5, B5, C6, D6 (high C and high D that Nikki hit in head voice) in scientific notation. Going down, Nikki didn't go down to A3, she went down to A2, the low tenor A, and that's a 4 octaves + a fourth range. In latin notation, A2 is La1, G5 is Sol4, A5 is La4, B5 is Si4, C6 is Do5/Ut5, D6 is Re5. It's already confusing enough just with these two standards, but if we start using different notations by instruments we're not out of the woods, *and* the notations have no use. The range was A2-A4-D6 in scientific and La1-La3-Re5 in latin. Anything else is creating more confusion for no good reason.
@cr01114 жыл бұрын
lonewaer Thanks for the explanation and totally agree, except Nikki did A2-A5-D6 ( not A2-A4-A6 as you typed at the end). Ie chest+mix range was A2 to A5

You can try to determine the type of the singer by the lower notes in the range (it happens that the timbre of a beginner singer may not be formed and "confuse the cards" in determining the type of voice). Voice type and lower sounds: soprano G#3-A3 mezzo-soprano F3-F#3 contralto C#3-D3 (and below) tenor G#2-A2 baritone F2-F#2 bass C#2-D2 (and below) Also, the type of voice can be determined by the frequencies of the typical high singing formant: soprano 3500 Hz mezzo 3200 Hz contralto 3000 Hz tenor 2700 Hz baritone 2500 Hz bass 2300 Hz

Plus her voice isn’t androgynous enough. She’s probably a mezzo considering how low she can get. Full lyric sopranos can sound like mezzos though.

I now have been working on my singing voice that has been my motivation. It has amazingly changed with my own practice techniques drastically for the better. Everyone has noticed. One of those techniques involves lung expansion like what lifeguards are taught. The second technique I'm going to share is my favorite and immediate results...... Humming. I put on a karaoke version and closed my mouth i take deep breaths and hum several songs. * The 1st technique of lung expansion I inhale to the most hold for 6 sec release for 10 the build my exhale down to 10 sec all the way to exhale for 35 sec ( for an ex smoker wow) * Also the 1st technique I will practice upside down ( it's amazing how gravity changes the feel of that method) *2nd technique I feel helps widen my range.

The girl in the video is a coloratura contralto. They are often confused with soprano and mezzo because this type of voice is capable of reaching the soprano range. a girl can get an androgynous sound through a resonant point in the hard palate and singing in a veiled sound like opera singers do. the bones of the skull conduct low frequencies better than air. through them you can sound the timbre very well ...

First, warm up your vocal cords. Then, start matching notes with a piano. You'll strike and sing middle C (C4) and work your way down until you are no longer comfortably hitting another note. Then, turn it around and do the same thing going up the scale. If you get to the next C going up but not comfortably to D, your upper vocal range is C5. If you get to the G above middle C, it's G4. Use the same system, in reverse, to find your lower range. These high and low notes will define your vocal range. get your free part singing course here >> t.co/8mIhSd5vcJ?amp=1?freecourse6 Primero, calienta tus cuerdas vocales.

Since I haven't done this in a controlled setting, everything I'm about to say is likely incorrect and could change based on circumstances like hydration and the day. The last time I checked, I can technically reach E5 but not for very long so it doesn't count; especially since I have to really work to maintain a C5, which is technically my highest second comfortable note (and I really had to work for an E5). My highest comfortable note seems to be A4. My absolute lowest note is D3; testing myself without hurting my voice, I tried to go lower but no matter what I did, I couldn't for more than, like, a second. I can hold that note longer than either of the higher notes I mentioned but not _considerably_ so. A3 is probably my comfortable lowest note. I'm sure with training, this could all change
