Supposedly when Ike & Tina opened for the Stones on their 1966 UK tour, Tina watched some of Mick's dance moves, and told him something like "Uh, boy, you got to let me help you out" and literally taught him how to move his hips in a way that wasn't English white boy dorky.

3 people influenced Mick. First- Brian Jones. At the start, Mick was timid but Brian would get in the face of the audience at clubs and smack the tambourine to rile the audience up. Mick then did more of the same 2nd - James Brown. Seeing him at the Apollo in 64 and then sharing the stage at Tami show later the same year. 3rd - Tina Turner. They were backing up the Stones in 66 and Mick took many of Tina’s feminine antics and made it his own

I thought he got the moves from James Brown!!! That guy had some moves. 😮 WOW. They must all have some killer arthritis these days. I read that Prince had a lot of pain with all that jumping around in those high heels that he wore. Athletes too. I worked in a hospital where a famous football player had back surgery and was told to never play again. Of course, he didn’t listen. They some of these guys make pain rub commercials later on.
