My dad use to steal one of the pieces. Right when the puzzle was "finished" minus one piece, he would put in the stolen piece and say, "There, I finished it."

For one puzzle, I was missing a piece and had to cut my own out of the art on the box... this was before internet and scanners and MS Paint and color printers...

This video made me howl and hit home. My mother was literally a professional puzzle maker and customer service rep for a puzzle company. She said that in all her years of making puzzles, she NEVER had one without a missing piece. However, the bulk of her email with customers was about the dreaded missing piece! Thank you for explaining what REALLY happens!! LOL!!

I was never into puzzles, but I had heard as a child that there was "another place" where puzzle pieces go. The stories that were told were as legendary as that of Keyser Sose. So remember to keep the next pieces to be used in the box bottom or you too may up under the table. Excellent work young lady.
