Where (not) to Start: Pere Ubu

Prompted by a conversation with a young fellow selling modular synths in a music store who had never heard of this great band I had to enlighten him (and hopefully you too)

Pere Ubu's Dub Housing is still one of my favorite records. In the 90s I met Tony Maimone in New York and complimented him on his bass riffing on "I, Will Wait".

I'll have to dig up Cloudland, as I don't know that one. I usually start people with Terminal Tower.

Rocket from the Tombs was the precursor to Pere Ubu. Rocket from the Crypt is a much later punk band from San Diego. Crocus Behemoth is not to be confused with the founder of the Wendy's restaurant chain.
