Idk about you but new Graves is infinitely more fun than the old Graves. The old had a bunch of cookie cutter abilities that were almost useless with no payoff for his extremely short range. The ammo mechanics gives you reason and reward for having to be so close as a ranged champion.

No thats not how the world works. Champions with high base defenses become tanks, and champions with low base defenses but high base atk become carries. The scaling on abilities can somewhat change things, but this is how it usually starts off. You build tanky items if you have tanky base stats, your items compliment you base stats. If youre playing graves, a champ literally designed to deal damage and kite, you should not be able to take any. Ofc make him tankier than adcs because of his low range and how you inevitably take damage in jungle, but sure as hell dont make him tankier than the melee guy who walks up for cs in lane all the time. Or do you expect to ult on jax each time you go for a minion?

Look, he's a shotgunner and shotguns are close-mid range weapons in FPS's regardless of if the range actually corresponds to real-life shotgun spread/range etc. We're okay with his def stats for it, but don't forget he has a dash and that smokescreen, which when used together let him create a fair amount of distance/breathing room/setup for CC chains from teammates. We can't give Jhin stats like this because Jhin is all about 'elegance' and Graves is a bout 'grit'. I think graves is a really cool and unique 'marksman', but just too powerful. It shouldn't feel like all junglers 'HAVE TO' avoid fights against him and lose even if they play their kit perfect. Ask any melee player - if they see a graves and he's too close to dash away over a wall from or have faith that you can escape after trading flashes and assuming the melee isn't super fed, you have to go balls deep on him and hope he's dead after your CDs. Graves was weak for awhile, I agree, but the small buffs he got + that smokescreen was simply perfect in that it went from a weak slow field to a strong 50% for 1 sec slow that counts as soft CC in fights. Why does he also need to faceroll everyone after that?

Efarjeon Aatrox if they remove the knockback from his autos on big monsters that would allow for other junglers to contest him he would also have a harder time contesting scuttle since he won't just obliterate it there are so many things riot can nerf about him in order to allow counterplay but he is just getting the aatrox treatment by making him viable through raw power

I think having the knockback gives him uniqueness, but I think it should have an internal cooldown, knocking back every X/3 autos, only knockback after he uses his E or the auto after his dash. I agree that he shouldn't get to stay healthy just because people know how to orbwalk.

Don't know if you've been paying attention to the jg meta for the last 3 years or so but Graves has been a broken monster since his rework. The only thing keeping him down is barrages of nerfs but than they just re-buff him anyway like his design wasn't the issue in the first place.

He has choice, stand behind and deal somewhat okay dmg, or go in deep and deal tons. Which was okay back when he wasn't so tanky, and goin in deep was risky. But now he is tanky, tankier than most damn bruisers, and has enough fking dmg to oneshot. Like he fking deals more dmg than some assasins, his single target burst is higher than shaco's, and he has aoe dmg on Q and R, so not only is he better than assasins when it comes to sustain and single target burst, he has more aoe dmg as well, and on top of that all he has as much mobility as assasins, and he has his W for awesome cc in close fights against chars that have no gap closers.

Gary Barlow we aint ignoring that Jax has a very low HP + Super vulnerable to Skillshots and Instantly dies if CC chained. jax is balanced. U just gotta play the weaknesses. Unlike graves? Because builds have counterplay and that's not what this video is about. You can dominate your lane and stop the enemy from building their items so you can build yours. You can play safe and out-farm them. Base stats are COMPLETELY out of your control. They're a handicap and an advantage that is given to players right at the very start of the game depending on what champion they're playing, a delicate balance if you will. The problem here is that Riot is tipping that balance in the favor of specific champions because their design team doesn't understand that Graves as a champion needs reduced base stats to make up for the crazy advantage he gains from having them in the early game. How do you kill something that kites, sustains, bursts and slows all in one? Especially when your champion has lower stats and utility wise is worse off than the other champion at that stage of the game?

I don't get this argument. I also don't get why passives that give base stats exist. Look at Diana having a 20% attack speed passive, every champion has different attack speeds so that doesn't make sense. They're just to lazy to give her a real passive, so they nerf her base attack speed, and give her a passive that grants her attack speed. Same thing with Shyvanna. I don't get who makes these choices. When I started playing I though every different class had the same base stats, but only differed on abilities. But apparently this game is retarded and that's not how it works. Poor balance on abilities and builds leads to nerfs and buffs on the Champions base stats. Fucking Retarted TBH.

so to make this ranged assassin work, you power creep his stats to bruteforce him into top tier? That literally makes no sense. Ranged champions have the commodity of kiting, something a bruiser doesn't. It is absolutely illogical that you'd give a character with kite potential better stats than a champion that needs to be in the face of their opponent. Even if Graves has the lowest range and a reload system, it does not justify increasing his numbers beyond those of a melee champion. In every other video game with a class system, be it a moba or mmorpg, the high damage classes tend to have very limited resistances and health pools, balancing out their strong sustained or burst damage. League's balance team doesn't understand that. Riot's been doing this for years to the point where bruisers these days have to build HP damage items. Go back a few seasons prior to there being Titanic Hydra and Steraks Gage. You'll see bruisers with maybe two max three actual damage items (R Hydra/BotrK, BC/Tri Force and maybe Youmuu's and the rest having to bulk up). It was a healtheir design, because nothing was so power creeped as it's now, to the point where you have to make specific bruiser items with health in them, for them to even be remotely viable, since the game's been accelerated for every other class other than bruisers. A tank needs one item to be relevant in early game skirmishes, a bruiser needs at least two of which one is the most expensive item in the game... Tell me how Graves needs this overloaded stats. tell me that...
