Fun fact. Adric DID infact make his own world out of numbers. In a Bonkers BF story called 'The boy That time forgot". Where a regretful 5th doctor "sleep time travel" with the power of block transfer computations, saves Adric and creates an alternate time line where Adric live to be 500 years old and controls his world threw a bunch if intelligent number crunching spiders and scorpions.

It only occured to me today that Nardole has been with the doctor for at least 100 years. 24 years on dirillium (at least acquainted if not companion status) then minimum 70 at university. That number could be more for all we know, maybe hundred of years making the doctors tea between lectures. Explains Nardoles character change between River song Christmas special and series 10. Bolster's the argument that Nardole is THE companion instead of Clara.

In my head canon the genesis of the timelords is like that; confused, contradictory, mercurial. And to cope with the uncertainty of who they are and where they come from they become stuffy bureaucrat's to hold everything still, until they go over the edge and become monsters in the time war.

I really hope the explanations are on the same level as Donna missing major alien-related events. Pure nonsense. Just going off what we saw of the Lupari, I feel the "protecting the human race" varies throughout the whole species. Some are really dedicated to watching their human, so much so that they get distracted by other elements of human culture to notice their human was in danger. Others couldn't give a shit about their human, only at the last minute. I like to believe that for some other major events they have helped indirectly, things could have been a lot worst without whatever the Lupari did off-screen.

Hm, I If _had_ to be the writer who sits down and finds an explanation about where the Lupari were every time the Earth was in danger, I'd say travel time. That usually by the time they would've arrived The Doctor or Jack or K9's already fixed it. Though I'd also say that in situations like the Dalek invasion of Earth, the Lupari just get their buts kicked. Maybe that's why they never show up in the future, the Dalek's exterminated all of them.

The Lupari really don't make any sense. Why would an entire alien species exist to protect humans? Why do they have speficic people to protect when they only seem to protect when it's a global event. Also how do they deal with people dying and being born which happens every day? Do the Lupari assigned to people who die naturally get killed, or assigned to a new person? How do the Lupari exactly keep up with population growth? And why didn't they protect the sun during the flux? (Of course they literally just existed as a plot device and a few dog jokes)
