I have used FTM for many years and found it an easy way to backup my ancestry tree and docs. Recently, since my last update, it gets hung up and never stops syncing. Thank you for sharing their location…..it is understandable if a user is having difficulties.

I haven’t had that happen since the last upgrade but I do have it set for manual syncing. You can always reach out to them as well. They are providing support.

Really great information for beginners. I love the way you explained everything so easily and clear. I've been researching for 30 plus years, and have used Ancestry and FTM for a long time. I like FamilySearch but I don't add anything because I'm scared I'm going to mess it up haha. Ancestry is so much easier for me to use and I love it. I'll be subscribing to your channel to get other great information.

I just started and it's challenging. So much info but before I pay for a site I have to get all the info from family members and pictures. You have been the most help and talk in simple terms. Thanks

So glad to hear it's helpful! Why don't you try RootsMagic's free version to put your information into a tree and then you can upload it to Ancestry or wherever you would like. That way you're not out any money but are staying organized while you gather information - but don't bother uploading the pictures until you figure out what platform you want to stay with.

The FamilySearch Tree and process is confusing for me to manage. One person's mistake becomes a big problem. I'm new to this and I can see it already. I don't have the time or inclination to deal with it at this point.

You’re not alone. It’s a collaborative tree so it’s a different animal. I recommend a tree program that you have control over, either one for your computer or something like Ancestry.

I see this video is just over 2 years old. Is the info still applicable or have things changed (aside from plan prices obviously)? (just beginning my ancestry journey)

I am a longtime FTM user, but now I am worried because the sync no longer works. I have contacted FTM numerous times and they say the same thing each time, "Our engineers are working on it." It has been about 3 weeks and it is still not working. I am very concerned.

I like the program as well. I didn’t know they were having issues. Thanks for sharing that. Hoping they get it fixed soon. MacKiev software was based In Ukraine. It’s a great program.

Hi, I want to make a family tree. I don't necessarily need access to any of these Western databases because I am of African heritage but I just need a tool to make a nuanced tree. A free tool will be most preferable as I do not want to make a huge investment into this. Any advice?
@AncestryAimee6 ай бұрын
Use FamilySearch for records and look at that tree and if you want to use that fine, but be sure to have a place for your tree that you control. (FS is a group effort and anyone can change it). Rootsmagic has a free version. Familytree Maker costs but is a good program and you just pay once. There are others as well. You can just Google search genealogy programs. Good luck!

"Ancestry purchased Geneanet." So that's why I'm seeing Geneanet in hints now. I'm glad you said that. I had no idea what it was and wasn't trusting the hints.
