“Whatever slop they throw at you” Kenji’s polite way of saying get the hell out of your resort. Love it

This channel is becoming sort of the modern-day Michelin Guide for the everyday person. Can't love it enough!

+1 for La Cochi Loka and El Fagon. I spent 3 weeks in Playa Del Carmen over the summer. Fantastic food at both El Fagon locations, and the many La Cochi you can find. I have two recommendations as well! 1. Baguetteria Francesa - Surprisingly solid baguette style sandwiches. The owner Tony knows like 7 languages and is probably the happiest guy on the beach. 2. Artesanal Panadería - Fantastic bakery, great quiche. I recommend getting the croissants. Perfectly buttery and depending on the style, the sweetness is just right.

Well how awesome is it to stumble upon this video literally 10 minutes after I booked my DEC trip to PDC 😊

Aqua chiles is mind blowing. It is under a highway ( they might have a couple of locations) but the smoked tuna is life changing as is the aquachiles

This is coming a little too late for us, we were there back in August. Still grateful to have hit some of the same foods, if not at the same places. We also enjoyed Los Hijos de la Birria (a little pricey, but great flavor), and La Michoacana for paletas and ice cream. If I ever get to go back, I'll make fish a higher priority!

Thank you for the video. Going March 29th. I will look for these places.

I distinctly remember the heat blasting off the spit at El Fagon when I'd walk past there, but never tried it. The queues were always too long. Maybe next time!

The line moves very fast. A must try. Their al pastor was on par with every other great al pastor i have had around Mexico. Thanks @kenji for saving us from bland resort food 😂

Playa del Carmen is a great little tourist town, I'll have to check out these places the next time I'm there.

Definitely not the real Mexico. Might as well stayed in the States.

The “real” Mexico. 😂 Go tell all the real Mexicans living and working there that they aren’t real, or that their rich culture stretching back to pre-Colombian days is fake. See how far that gets you, ya dingus. 😂

Hey Kenji, when you are visiting a new area how do you go about finding good places to eat? Finding a single restaurant on a trip that I could recommend as excellent would be a good trip, finding 5 would be a trip of a lifetime. Any tips or tricks you can share?

Tip 1: have a decent social media reach and ask your viewers If tip 1 doesn't apply, try tip 2: Hope that Kenji's been there first and done a review 😂

Basically correct. I ask on social media and from that I can get a list I can narrow based on who I trust, how many recommendations it gets, how it looks in photos, etc.

@@benjaaaamin Ha ha, looks like I’m relegated to following Kenji around the world to get a good meal. I tried to Twitter once. It didn’t work out.
