I love the idea, because sometimes you want something that isn't fast food as a lone diner. There are times when traveling, work or errands, when you are alone, or you just want to focus on the food, and if good, come back with friends or family. TBH I used to feel awkward as a single diner, when I was single.. now I can't wait to get some me time.. ha ha.

Ahh, forever alone eating options lol.... I have been to the solo Yakiniku restaurant and it is a god send if you are not feeling Konbini. They have locations all over Tokyo as well.

Absolutely had no idea that Japan had these places. Delicious steak from the 1ST place. Must be raining with your umbrella. An all you can eat, count me in for the 2ND place. Wonder if they have beer OR soda. Delicious meats and soup. Absolutely love pork. Last 1. Like how unique this place looks and so different. Yum. Most places for shabu shabu or yakiniku, everyone at the table needs to order the same meal from the menu, so these places might also work for couples who want to order different meals. Yakiniku like is definitely one of my favourite place to visit, our city (Jakarta) also has few of their branches too but the design isnt really geared to solo/ohitorisama customers but more for groups (2 ppl and above). It's interesting how they change their layout/design in their oversea branch though!

I hate eating solo. When on a business trip, I would often request a table for two, saying I'm expecting a client. Halfway through the meal, I'd tell the sever my client canceled. That's when they would take away the second setting. I wouldn't feel so "lonely".
