I love you videos. They really help with the layout of the lake. If I can give you a suggestion. Get Google Earth Pro on a computer. Use that to look at the area of Headwaters Lake. With that application you can get satellite views of the lake. You can also go back in time. There are some great views from 2012, 2013, and 2014 before the lake was completely flooded. This gives you some idea about how that deep water is laid out. Furthermore, you can set pin marks in the application, export them, and convert them to Lowrance way points that can be uploaded to you depth finder. I've already got about 30 spots of interest ready to go. I just need to get down there. Again thanks for videos. I look forward to every one.

Hey Craig, You can access some decent fishing from the west bank of the lake. You can get to the road that runs along side of the lake by going to the stick marsh parking lot and then either walking or even better bring a bike and work your way south. Just keep an eye out for critters in the tall grass areas.

Hey Rob, Happy New Year to you as well. You should have a great time. The winds will be up a bit but so should the temperature which should have the bass active. Look for deeper clean water and you should be fine. I would even try a slow troll with a worm or a weighted hook with a soft plastic jerk bait. I have caught quite a few this way and it helps to locate fish. Best of luck and be sure to let us know how you make out.

Have you ever seen so many boats at Headwaters they park rangers turn people away ? For the holidays do you suggest getting there 2-3 hours before first light to insure a parking spot?
@BeyondHeadwaters4 жыл бұрын
I have not run into that situation yet. I mostly fish the weekdays. If I do go on a weekend I go after 10 am and can get a spot. With that being said I suspect there will be extra pressure this weekend with family coming to town with the idea of getting out with families that live here. If your coming in from out of town and can handle getting there earlier, then for the sake of ensuring you get a spot it may be worth doing so.

Great Information. Your presentation is excellent too. According to your Lowrance water temp was 66 degrees, but with the colder temps on Friday 51/34 I assume you want to fish as deep as possible, right? If so, where are the deepest parts of the lake?
@BeyondHeadwaters4 жыл бұрын
Hey Robb, Yes with the temp drop I expect they will be holding deep and slow to bite. As the temp rises through the day they will get a bit more active. Here is a link to the FWC map that shows the deep areas on the lake. myfwc.com/media/24685/fwfellsmeredepth.pdf Hope that helps. Happy Holidays!

Great to find your channel. I’ve been fishing fellsmere for about 4 years out of a kayak. Last year made 2 week long trips and fished out of my honor pedal kayak. I’ve had some of the best fishing in my life there. Love to throw swim baits. Noticed fish turn on when the wind blows. Thinking of coming down in March. Do you suggest early or late March. Like to hit the spawn.
@BeyondHeadwaters4 жыл бұрын
Hi David, I would suggest early March, even late February. It depends on our (Florida) weather...things can get hot (no pun intended) in terms of fishing during late February and into March around here. I also fish and guide out of my pedal kayak (blessed to do both fresh and inshore)...absolutely love it. I am a big swimbait fan...try white or blue back split tail flukes as well. Many thanks for subscribing and viewing our channel. ...pedal on and tight lines bro.

Hey Steve, I get the locals only thing as I was born and been here ever since. That being said when you have the big name Pros rolling in and filming with their film crews I can promise you that Dave and I are not the cause of overflowing parking lots. Our tax payer dollars in part paid for the lake, but tourism dollars are a big part of why we don't have a state tax which saves us a lot of money each year So I don't mind sharing the lake with fellow fisherman from around the country. At least to date I have never showed up to a slap full parking lot or gone home defeated by a fishless day. There are plenty of lakes to fish and like all of them the new will wear off and everyone will scatter back to their favorite spots.

@@Rock_Nemo Not for nothing but if you know where the best spots are on the lake why are you checking out our videos? It's a big lake bud folks are coming in from around the country. Either way I would rather debate what the best lure to use is. IT's all good.

Not much. If it wasn't for the sawgrass islands with the deep cuts between them the whole area would be nothing but a submerged overgrown field. Some of the cuts have some small humps on them as they descend. Flats have the usual hydrilla on them. Hope that helps. Baitfish seem to like the area as well. I heard or read a lot of people saying the fishing has turned off for a variety of reasons The number 1 reason is the catch and keep crowd.
@BeyondHeadwaters4 жыл бұрын
Hey Kenny, with a limit of 5 fish there is no way a catch and keep crowd could turn the tide of fish catching from really good to super slow in the few months the lake has been open to boats.. Most of the time you will find that it is the fishermen's ability to adapt to changing conditions that makes the difference between a productive and slow fishing day. Remember the lake opened to the public in late summer and until recently it has been a pretty specific pattern for finding fish. Now that the cool weather has set in the patters are changing so hitting the same spots with the same baits is not going to work as well as it has. There are plenty of guys out there loading up, the difference is they know how to adapt to charging conditions. Appreciate the comment and Good Fishing.

@@kennyhaworth9606 Appreciate it Kenny, I would suggest darker colors such as June bug. Go with your favorite worm. Work them Sloooow. Dead stick them for a minute or so before starting to retrieve them back. IT is going to be windy so if you can find an easy bank you like then you should do ok. If you don't mind fishing wind blown waters then it is always a good bet to find fish along wind blown banks as they can be holding there for bait fish. Just talked to Dave this morning and he said it was really busy yesterday so you might want to wait until mid morning to show up to get a spot unless you are an early guy and don't mind waiting in the lineup before sunrise.
