Where to Find Whitefish That Bite - Whitefish Tips and Techniques
Today we're finding Whitefish that bite. In order to find whitefish that bite, the tips and techniques I used are going to be 1. get out on a main lake shoal and 2. fish the meegs or Lunkerhunt Nose Down jig!
I'm a Lake Simcoe walker. I feel like being a walker limits the amount of fish I can catch. I eventually figure them out but I feel like having a sled would really increase my chances.
Thankfully I have a few friends with toys. Today, Thom McGill has offered Bob and myself a ride out to one of the popular main lake shoals.
Thom dropped brought us to a community shoal, a large shoal close to shore, but far enough that it's a bit walk if I had to do it.
Using the Meegs I fished like I would fish anywhere else I've been this year. This time - the day was much different. I managed to get two onto the ice and brought two more to the hole before loosing them due to poor hook sets. Thom got one on the ice too.

Atta boy...great info. Finding main lakes haunts is so much fun and you can have blast with friends as shown. As far as a snowmobile, once you decided your gonna pull the pin on one just let me know. So many guys brag about fans, some guys brag about liquid cooled but personally I find the best are 4 strokes that are liquid and fan cooled. Never have a issue ever with over heating and were on the lake every single day rain or shine.

I love that sled of yours - but $ is a concern. I may have to do what we talked about and just grab a$500 beater and fix er up this summer

If you do get a sled, Can u do a video on what u researched and how you decided on the sled that u bought, what to look out for, pitfalls and so on please. I have come to the same conclusion as you as I also just walk out and it really limits the areas and success I find. Great vid again!

A machine equals more fish. You have all the options available with a machine plus less pressured areas will produce a lot more.

I'm more of an ice guy over summer... When your looking for a sled. fan is the way to go over liquid! 2-up is great in case your taking a friend! I have a ski doo legend GT 550f. Greqat machine for me!

My buddy had the 2up with hand warmers on the handles. It was amazing! I definitely want to go fan at the least and have room on the back to put a rack if I can.

Probably going to sound stupid but what exactly is a shoal?

That's not stupid at all. I didnt know when I first started. A shoal is like a giant long hump in the middle of the lake. The popular ones are usually pretty shallow and tapering off pretty deep on either side.

Anywhere in the west side of the lake that has quick drop offs. Theres even the lower east south of Barrie. Just watch for pressure cracks and you'll get em!
