Of course pets need to be buffed, it's so much harder to raise a pet to 20 than thralls. The idea of running through exiles or siptah is awesome but they dropped the ball didn't put any thought into how to raise lvls for pets except for Brutus on siptah he's pretty powerful out the box.

A pet rework does seem like a good idea, as very few seem worth using. Greater sabretooths and the named dogs, having only 3 variable stat increase chances and high base damage are easy to get a good leveler, and can build up to 3 or 4 hundred damage a hit, comparing rather favourably to thralls, and being enough to carry them against most targets while levelling, but the lack of armour makes them sub optimal for harder/endgame content. A decent and well equipped thrall will be more versatile, easier to heal, and generally more viable across the gamut of game content.

I always said pets need some special weapon attachments. Like a crocodile for example could have some special iron or steel jaws attachment or iron or steel claws for the big cats. Also Skeletons are basically skinless thralls they should be able to have different weapons. And last is Asika knockable.

@@Whoisjer07 They have A LOT more hit points than you do so you have followers that can take on groups of combatants. And the crafting types speed things up or make items that you cannot make otherwise on a craft bench.

Yeah, I'd definitely support pets generally getting a buff - especially the lesser pets (some of them are so fragile that even at high levels they can't survive even moderate threats). The named dogs feel like a step in the right direction (and the Tcho-Tcho Veterans are cool - not sure how powerful yet, but definitely interesting).

My clan mate got a bunch of tcho-tcho coins and placed them all over my base and as group they're hold their own pretty good and they're lvl zeros. But they are annoying as hell all the grunting

Pets in general do need a buff, but I will also say I've ran most of the dungeons with a greater saber or bear on Exiled Lands. Both have good dmg and with 10hp/s food (which is easy to get for both) they don't care about much. Cat might lack a little in defense but if fed right when leveling and a little luck on perks it should have decent HP, 400+ armor, and a lot of DPS to of set the lack of armor compared to the bear which is is the opposite of the saber, bear has high armor and hp and decent dmg. As most people know the named dogs on Siptah are pretty good. Well some are. Perk wise 3 are poop, 1 is ok, and 3 are good. But I had a level 20 Brutus hitting for 500-600 dmg on zero-light armored targets. And if you know what you are doing Brutus is easy to nab, even if you are to weak for the area he is in. They can be a bit squishy though as I lost one L20 Brutus to EEWA mobs from an unstable surge. I think the problem in general is several of the pets have garbage AI and garage hit boxes and collision boxes and some of them just do shit dmg period. Like the primates/yeti's, elephants, and rhinos. Some would throw giants in here to, I think they could buff also but they are not as bad as these. All of these are very large creatures that take up a lot of space but because they are slow to attack, have low DMG, and mobs walk into them half the time so the pet can't fight back (mainly rhino). Also charge attacks from bear, elephant, and rhino miss 90% of the time. They need to be able to coarse correct if they are gonna have a charge. Not saying 100% hit chance but they need to be able to turn somewhat. All of these massive pets need to have some benefit to having them other than they look cool because they are big. When I first started playing years ago I was trying to use my greater rhino and mammoth but my friends all got feed up with it (understandably) because they are always in the way when fighting and they don't add enough. Specially when a tiny cat can do way more DMG and survive just as much. Or a thrall, which relic hunter treasure seekers are stupid easy to get. Outside of a themed character or using them just because you want to, there is no reason to use a pet mid to end game. Thrall will always have above 80% DMG reduction through the epic heavy armor you give them. And give them a great sword and now they have great DMG for single target and AOE. Plus the gear you give them applies any bonus attributes to them as well, tattoos as well.

I don't know if it does, but it seems as though accuracy could / should have an effect on reach weapons and short blades in addition to bows. Not that that would help a Gorilla either. The named dogs in Siptah have great perks and make awesome vault companions. Some other pets have crazy numbers of pack slots if you just need a mule. Thralls get the 7 dedicated slots for armor and weapons. I also found if the "return" command doesn't work using a weapon attack key right after the command to return will help fix it.

I would say give pets a unique ability. Like Yeti can pick up a boulder and crush it for an aoe attack. Or like a cat getting passive attack speed boost.

The named feral dogs are pretty tough when leveled. And leveling them is pretty easy with a Rhino.

There is one pet that is really nasty and it's those special pups you can find that are guaranteed a greater version. They have their own special nasty perks and do a ton of damage

Yes definitely. Pets need a major buff. There is almost no reason to use pets (except some greaters or legendary dogs) other than early game or to hold items. Their damage is lower than even low tier low faction Fighter thrall (with proper gear and weapon). They almost serve no other purpose than base defense.

Buffing pets would be a great idea, not some much on the damage side I have a few dogs and sabretooth cats that hit really hard, but more on the survival side, so atleats they are kind of competitive to a t4 in epic heavy armor

Yes buff the pets that's a good idea but not generally more specific more on the characteristics of pets e.g. physical appearance attack behavior temperament (active or passive aggressive or defensive) then there should be more differences between the rarities so there should be better values ​​for rare pets and better chances of growth in certain areas

something I noticed with the Greater Sabertooth; by setting its attack to prioritize range to will only do the pounce attack which I assume is based on accuracy since it appeared to show a different damage value(do not know for sure). since the gorilla is a pet as well i'm sure it's the same.

I think there should be a buff to pets. I think it would add a lot more variety to the game. Maybe you want a harem, maybe you want to be a beast master. They wouldn't be much good for helping tame thralls, but for general gameplay, they could make for a more varied experience.

I like pets to come with me during resource gathering as their inventory is much larger. I don't think they need a buff as I don't like using them to assist as they are normally larger and always in the way.

I would also support pet armor. Crafted like a saddle, but just for the armor. I would also like to see the different saddles provide different armor, unless that has been fixed, which I doubt. Why spend more resources on a war saddle for a rhino or horse when they do the same thing? I do it for looks sometimes, but if I just need a saddle, I make the most simple one. Also, making camels and elephants mounts as well as increased inventory slots for the Turanian variants. It fits the canonical for the pets to get armor because, as shown in Conan the Barbarian, the war dogs had leather harnesses and head protection.

Personally, yes. I think pets need a buff. I am one of the minorities that despises the meta of using Greater Saberteeth. I prefer using the Greater Bear, greater croc and greater komodos simply because I like their designs better. The sabers look too derpy for me to realistically use them.

Thanks for the exposé. These don't really look terribly useful unless one is doing a nomad run and doesn't have access to gear crafting. Better than other pets, they can be placed without the obnoxious process that is placing a taming pen. Do pets need a buff? In my opinion, yes. Very yes. As much of a feat point and space sink as the pen is, pets absolutely need improvement to be worth the effort. I mean, if you just want them as fancy vanity placeables, they are fine. But as actual combat work horses. No. However, if all pets could be mounts... And had better movement... Monekys climbing, gators having high swim speed... Then we would be playing Ark, but it would still be an improvement.

Like the look of that armor on Phoenix. Not so garish as her usual attire. Pets for fighters? Meh. They make better bearers and mounts. More pets that can be mounted, please. Especially elephants. The rhinos are cool, but who wouldn't want to ride an elephant? I've seen a mod where you can mount big cats. Riding a huge black panther is pretty special too. I'd like to see the ability to make pack saddles so your mounts can have more slots for carrying your stuff. With the right saddle your pet should be able to carry at least as much stuff as a bearer. If they do decide to buff the fighting ability of pets, how about potions that buff your pet instead of armor? Maybe some wear off over time, maybe some permanently create greater versions of the species.

I think you should be able to have a thrall and 1 pet other than the horse following you at the same time... why is it limited to a mount only that's just lame and they need to fix the food boxes and amount of food the pets eat jesus keeping them fed is a full time task in itself

No I wouldn't support a buff to pets, they already going to cap the amount of thralls you have. Pets just mean more lag, and after nerfing the horse, not only in fights but as there health and stamina are useless. No they dont want to buff pets they want to buff the player so we can be less dependent on thralls and pets.

The boss isn't that hard, it's getting overwhelmed by all the adds that you need to watch out for. Depending on your gear and skill level you can probably do it between level 20 - 30

@@wak4863 I tried. Not the best of skill, not the best gear. The adds were hellish because sometimes 5 would aggro at a time (right in front of the boss.) One time they all ran away while she stayed aggroed and it was over pretty fast, got no pet Tho.didn't wanna retry again, lol

We're here to help and to get help from others, so don't worry about asking too many questions. That's the thing there is no "best" it depends on your play style, what perks the thralls get as they level from 1 to 20 (@10, 15, 20 they get bonus stats) which can depend on what you feed them as they level. Dig into Wak4863's library of past videos and you will probably find your answer in detail.

The purge meter is a purple line on the bottom of your inventory. It's kind of like an alternate experience line. The more you build or XP you gain that bar also fills. When it if between the first and second line you MAY get a purge, Second line and full bar you WILL get a purge of waves of combatants trying to wreck your progress, however those purges also contain thralls you can't otherwise get if you can knock those out and turn them on a wheel.

@@Whoisjer07 There is no right answer. It depends on what map you play, what weapons and combat style you have and what you want your pet to do. Also, you can get the strongest available thrall on the map and if they don't get good perks at level 10, 15 and 20 then it's not the best anymore. Each type of thrall or pet has a specific diet and they need food to stay healthy and fight well. Some food items will give you a better chance to get stats that you want your thrall to have as they level and others don't have any value for them at all. If a consumable item is USED in the followers inventory that item's effect will go onto the follower, not you.

You can leave them in the pen and the timer doesn't run. Add food and they produce dung that can be used in fertilizer.
