Haha just glad I didn’t have to transition to the ER. I can laugh about it now. But was definitely sore for a little bit.

You have just ‘scratched the surface’ on the amount of riding available on Vancouver Island.

Great guide 🙌.. IS it a good idea to try the trail by December 1st week?

I have no first hand experience with this. I imagine some trails on the island are good still. This was shot all in the summer.

I live on Vancouver Island in Victoria and we think riding in the spring and fall are best for less dry and dusty conditions. The days are shorter though so bring lights if you want to do a long ride. Mt. Washington is actually a ski resort, so no riding in the winter, In December, it could be muddy or a bit wet so bring the right type of clothing. Contrary to one of the comments, it’s actually extremely dry in the summer with practically no rain at all(typically June through September). Winters are rainy and we do get a bit of snow and cold, especially in the more northern parts of the island but spring usually comes by the end of February/ early March. Victoria is more drizzly but the forests are alive and colourful. You can always hike if you can’t ride! Places like Cumberland have sooo many trails. There are different types of trails depending where you go. Some are flowy and some are more technical, like the ones in Victoria. My advice would be to stay flexible. The weather may be unpredictable in December, but if you have a good rain jacket and wear layers ( very important for the changing weather and damp) you can get out and really enjoy the forests and beaches even if you can’t ride.

Planning to make a visit this summer. Any suggestions on camping on the island?

There are some great spots! Most of them are paid spots and some require advanced reservations so I’d look into those prior to going. The Island is actually pretty big, for specifics send me a DM on instagram or email us and we’ll be happy to help.
