Thanks Nick and Bree! This cue was very helpful to me! I used to get scoot down and roll up occassionally and I couldnt get it right. This cue put it in a different spot than I did previously. More stable now. Thank you very much!

I tried low bar,,,,it feels good on the back, and makes sense in theory, but for me, it was very uncomfortable for my shoulders and wrists....I had to hold the bar VERY wide to get in position and wear wrists straps. If you have compromised shoulder mobility, getting in to the low bar feels awkward and sometimes PAINFUL. I went back to high bar....much more comfortable.

Me too. My arms just don't seem to work that way. I have a lot of fat and muscle on my back that just won't squeeze like that. I end up with such a wide grip that it's hard to put the weight back on the rack without crushing a finger or pinching some skin on my hand.

Same issue here. I tried to give low-bar an honest try but just too uncomfortable on my shoulders.

I have something similar. I cannot hold the bar with my hands over it, only if I grip it. In order to have my hand and thumb on top, I have to place my hands quite wide.

So my left shoulder is slightly injured. Mobility is an issue, but I loved doing barbell squats before this happened. I had a hex trap bar and do those fine, I can but a safety squat bar or a camber squat bar, but is there anything you recommend to getting enough flexibility back to perform these squat exercises?

@@startingstrength is there an alternative? Squats I know are about the most important excersize you can do and don't want to miss out on doing it.
@startingstrength5 жыл бұрын
@@freedomgunsandliberty you'll definitely still squat, just don't put the bar in the low bar position. Put it an inch higher, squeeze your shoulder blades together, and you should be good to go.

@@startingstrength thanks I'll try and change positions tomorrow and see how it goes. Got my starting strength book yesterday and am using the program to try and strengthen my neck and lower back since I have problems in both. Love the simplicity and old school no nonsense manners of the program 👍
