I have several items from H&M and have been delighted with them

I’m on a tight budget, so I buy most of my clothes from Amazon, H&M and Old Navy, which is the budget line of the Gap family here in the US. I buy mostly natural fibers and viscose/rayon, which I love. I do like to have a full wardrobe of many pieces, in modern classic styles. I spend more on coats, blazers, silk, leather shoes, bags and belts, and high-quality jewelry, because I wear these items forever. I can’t imagine spending $200 US on a t-shirt, polyester skirt or pair of jeans! I can get a nice coat, bag, or boots, etc., during the sales for that.

Darker woven viscose items tend to get shiny iron marks, so I iron them inside out as much as possible. Then, I turn them right side out and use a pressing cloth, as you suggest, for features like sleeves, so the crease is right-side out. Some inexpensive versions also water-spot, so I dry-iron them.

Finally, I have found in your post, real and useful information. Thank you. Love that you provide places to shop and even some examples. Great video!

Thank you so much for this video about how to shop style on a budget! It was really good and I watched several other of your videos and you made me realize that I've spent decades over complicating my style and shopped without any real plan. So now my wardrobe is overflowing and it's completely overwhelming. I realized that thanks to your videos. I am from Sweden so I hope my English is okay. I have now ordered the silk trousers and the sandals in the other colour from H&M and also a pair of loafers with leopardpattern from Mango. Thank you!

Thank you for your comment 😀 start slowly by taking out anything that doesn’t fit or that you never wear and then go from there. If it’s really stuffed you might be missing some gems because you can’t see them 😀

Great video with lots of good tips Maria thank you. I am still in the quality camp. Never really thought about Mango shoes but knowing most of the shoes we buy are Spanish or Italian it makes sense. Have a great weekend. 😘

Part of the year, I can tolerate polyester in a floaty skirt, but not in tops. Here in California it’s 38C for many months every year, I don’t even wear silk in that weather. Since peri-menopause began about 15 years ago, my core overheats quickly. Now at age 60, it’s finally getting better, so I have had a lot of fun buying and wearing sweaters this autumn and winter, but mostly in cotton or my favorite viscose (usually called rayon here in the US), that have has become widely available now. This is a great manmade, but not synthetic (plastic, like polyester, acrylic, etc., which are made from petrochemicals), fabric made from plant fibers, often sawdust and other organic plant-waste fibers, it’s so cool, breathable, renewable, biodegradable and much gentler both on bodies and the environment. Modal/lyocell is an even more eco-friendly, luxurious and expensive type of viscose.

It’s interesting, rayon as developed as a silk substitute, just before, or early in, WW-II, for the apparel market. The silk producing areas (mostly China) were cut off, and natural silk was reserved for much-needed parachutes.

Very interesting video, Maria. I didn't know h&m had a premium quality section, i'll try and find it next time i'm in there. I often buy pre-loved clothing and have come across some real bargains and i find that pre-loved shops don't have that musty smell they used to have. The only fabric i avoid is viscose from the 1970s which was a nightmare to wear back then. Viscose circa 2020 is much improved!

Gosh Maria I can't even think about wearing polyester! I also can't wear tightly woven silk in the heat, it makes me too hot ...
