Where to Start as a Non-Gamer - SNAP

Choosing co-op as an entry point is genius. Most of us in the GC/PSX/XB era grew up with older siblings, parents, or friends from school who all had a second controller. I started my journey with games like Halo CE co-op. Helped me get into games so much.

I love all 3 of these games. I remember I got a Wii for my birthday back in 2010. Mario Kart Wii, Spongebob's Boating Bash, Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing, Wii Sports, and Wii Sports Resort were my first batch of games on that console. I remember seeing the trailer to It Takes Two and thinking the game looked great. I was hoping that a lot of gamers wouldn't sleep on it since the gaming community loves being negative towards new games that come out, and I'm so glad they weren't. After playing It Takes Two, I played A Way Out that same year.

Playing these two games back to back I think is the best if you can! Seeing how they’re similar to one another was what led me to include them for this video

@SnapChaos Have you played Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons ? Josef Fares (Director of A Way Out and It Takes Two) worked on that game as well. It got a remake earlier this year. I haven't played it. I did play the original back in 2022, though. The original game came out back in 2013.

It takes two was the game I planned on using to get my wife into gaming. I ended up being the "problem" because I grew too impatient when she failed a platform section dozens of times in a row doing the exact same thing every time. She ended up falling in love with gaming thanks to animal crossing, then to palia, then to stardew valley. I'm so proud

That's something I wanted to avoid doing when helping my parents here. They wanted to try, but I knew it would be difficult for them to figure out the controls in the beginning. It can be difficult not to tell them what to do, but I often find having them take the lead at times usually made them more engaged. Great to hear she was able to find her kind of games!

Another comment, sorry. I was surprised to hear you talk about the difference in the perception of video games between generations. This is something I've always wondered myself as I'd be extremely intrigued to know if you find out anything.
