The Best Hotels, Hostels & Special Accommodation in Israel
Booking a hotel or hostel has never been so easy, but I decided to make this video because there are some important things you need to know about getting a roof over your head in Israel:
*One of the biggest expenses when traveling is accommodation, and this is particularly true of Israel. Many travelers complain that they would have expected more for the price they paid. This is why I’ve added a budget option in each area: these are hostels and chans, many of which also offer private rooms.
*When you sleep outside the cities, in the Negev or the Galilee, I recommend that you go for a different kind of accommodation, such as chavot bodedim, which means “lonesome farms”, or airuach kibbutzi, which involves sleeping in hotels in kibbutzim.
*There is no such thing as THE BEST hotel. It is all about what is right for you and a random recommendation won’t give you the information you need. I’m not just talking about the budget. Let's say you’re looking for a hotel in Tel Aviv. What is important to you? Do you want to be able to see the sea from your room and be located right on the promenade? Do you like markets and want to be a stone’s throw from the flea market? Or do you see Tel Aviv as a base for other tours and prefer to be close to Ayalon (the main highway that runs through Tel Aviv)?
*At the end of the day, you spend quite a lot of time in your accommodation, and you almost always eat there, so it should be good. Post -

How about one that's oriented to the extremely budget oriented. When I lived in the Old City in the summer of 1979, there was a place called Mr. A's near the Jaffa Gate that was only $1 a night. It was crowded, but the very fact that it was for experienced budget travelers made it fascinating. You might also touch on stealth camping. I did a bit of that too, although I was never sure of its legality.

As usual a very interesting and informative video. Are there public transportation between these sites. My wife and I, traveled once from Galilee to Tel Aviv, on a small van bus, it was very interesting but there was only one passenger that spoke English, and when he got off, we were confused about where we were and when we should get off. My wife and I were sitting directly behind the driver, and we learned quickly that comes with its own unique obligation of passing money back and forth between driver and the passengers, multiple times. Again interesting, but the language gap was pretty scary. Even though I've studied Hebrew, when over there things happen so fast, I couldn't begin to keep up. Again, I love your videos, and I recommend everyone buy your booklets, they are well priced and an absolute necessity. שלום

Hello Oren, I really enjoy your content. I am planning a trip to include Israel in September, but I have really tight time frames since I will be starting in Egypt. My plan is to head north from Sharm El Sheikh to Petra then to Israel. My question to you is would you recommend from Petra to Head North to Amman, then cross into Israel the next morning, or would it be easier to go from Petra back to Eliat, then head North? I have checked transportation times yet, but just wanted an opinion on what you thought might be an easier cross, and easier to ultimately get to Jerusalem? I should add, that on my final day in Israel, I will need to get to Amman as I would be flying out to Cairo around 8pm that day. Thanks in advance for any advice.

I'm planning a trip to Israel right now and would love to hear more about the experience of renting a car and driving around the country independently. Where can I drive? Where could I not? One online source said Nazareth may be off limits. It sounds like certain areas in the westbank are off-limits, but would I be able to drive from the Sea of Galilee down to the Dead Sea through the west bank? Thanks

Hey, Thanks! It is a good idea to do a video about it! In the mean while I will write that - You must have a credit card (not a prepaid), I won't suggest having a car in the cities, check out this www.travelingisrael.com/itinerary-israel/. You can drive in Nazareth but I won't recommend it as they drive like crazy. You can drive from the Sea of Galilee to the Dead Sea and Jerusalem with no problems, You are not allowed to enter area A whith is the Palestinian cities like Bet - Lehem, Nablus and Ramallah. Shalom Oren. Thanks for your great videos. We are two couples who have traveled to Israel on our own, renting cars and booking accommodations different ways for 10 years. Now we are finding it more and more expensive and are looking for very cheap ways to sleep for for about 5 days at a time. We have found hostels with double rooms in Jerusalem and Jaffa. There are many camping sites and places to sleep outside for free. The thing is that there are no facilities there and I think that it is relevant for less than 1% of travelers. But it is on my to do list.

Hey, No you need a credit card in Israel, a real one, not a prepaid or Debit. It will make you trip way easier. And with a car I recommend to drive outside the cities and not in them.

An average of $240 a night? I have stayed in some top notch hotels in Israel, but never paid that much. Then again, I don't go during the regular tourist season. In Jerusalem, I always stay at the Prima Kings. Just around the corner from the Great Synagogue, it is perfect for those who observe shabbat. What can you tell me about the Hacienda?

Israelis can be so fussy at times !!! , and it pays , on occasion , to read what they say (on travel sites ) about hotel /hostel/B+B accommodation in their own country . Not all comments made by Israelis are in Hebrew - sites like tripadvisor.com show where the visitor comes from , and some of the pictures posted can be very telling indeed !!!

There’s no valid reason why accommodation in Israel is so expensive. It’s not as if hotel workers are well paid or that building costs are much different. They overcharge because they can. Visitors come for compelling religious or ideological reasons and are willing to accept gouging in the process , what for many is a trip of a lifetime. Social inequity ,as measured by the Gini coefficient , are more like the Third World than a developed economy . If I can subvert the plutocrats that have a stranglehold on accommodation , I would consider it a good job
