Hopefully not towards joker. At first I was concerned that would be the case given that scene towards the end of the movie. Thankfully though the director has clarified this isn't the case and was just world building (excited to see the Hannibal lecter like scene that got cut which imo is better than the joker scene they left in from what it sounds like) don't get me wrong I like joker but I'm a bit fatigued of his character. Given batman extensive and great rouge gallery.

I think a Court of Owls with Hugo Strange film is the most likely for the sequel. They can do some setup and world building in the Arkham show and build up to a full Arkham Asylum break out with a whole rogue's gallery to fight in future movies. Which would be a great way to introduce our first Robin. Court of Owls and Strange would also force him to embrace the Bruce Wayne persona more and force him to grow.

I dont understand how batman can get bested by the riddler in the first film and then be able to fight the court in the second.... the flooded city is much more of a catalyst for the bruce wayne persona than anything involving the court.. and you want to introduce robin simply as help because of an Arkham breakout.? not because he feels the need to protect a young man from turning into vengeance...?? you dont think the flooded city of gotham and new power struggle would force bruce to embrace his family's philanthropic persona.? you dont think that's what he meant when he said he needed to to be a symbol of hope? the last thing we want is another convoluted mess like the amazing spiderman 2 because you wanted batman to fight his version of the sinister 6... we are in a perfect place to introduce victor fries. we cant be introducing the court of owls or having an Arkham breakout when the riddler literally just used the batman as a pawn in his own little chess game.. bruce needs to actually embrace the new change in the status quo before he can be introduced to the court. the riddler almost broke bruce.. the court will break him. it's too soon. and robin needs to be someone bruce feels the need to protect. not just a soldier. especially if you're introducing dick.. and again. a flooded city and power struggle is a perfect place to introduce a young man that just lost his family.... why flood the city and explain the power struggle after falcones death if the second film takes place in Arkham? this universe is far too grounded to have a prison break of 30 major villains all with wierd gimmicks.. it takes time to ground characters. you cant just throw out mad hatter dollmaker scarecrow bane and puppet master and think audiences wont be confused.. the joker isnt even the joker yet and you're telling me the next movie is going to have a prison break of multiple villains that batman has personally already locked up and given "made up" names? gtfoh

Personally I might find it interesting if there's a clear spin on it - emphasise Bruce's guilt; make it play out with Bruce as the killer; show what could happen if the Batman goes too far. Or something like that. It needs to be used for psychological insight and not just be a rehash.

I feel like Mr Freeze would be a really good follow up, he’s got one of the best stories of any of Batman’s rogues. Going against Mr Freeze would also allow for Bruce to develop further into a more heroic role, Freeze’s story is one that he can empathize with and not necessarily just be another evil or psychotic personality. Bringing in Dick Grayson would also be great because we haven’t gotten to see a good Robin on the silver screen and he’s a character that deserves just as much justice. Dick would allow for Bruce to develop further as he would know exactly what that trauma would do and how it can shape a person so he would train and teach Dick how to overcome it so that he doesn’t become like himself

its whatever fits the current climate, if we're in conspiracy times (fueled by the 2010s wikileaks, NSA, banking bailout, the deep state. onto pandemic) then Court of Owls resonates. Currently in a rejuvenation of the liberal Western Democracies owed to the Russo-Ukraine war. Less exposing conspiracies within institutions and more, stopping a despot planning atrocities from a bunker. Joker pulling strings from Arkham Asylum would resonate, as would a rogue gallery war (internal conflict). Not always the case but when US and UK invaded Iraq, the British went from being the main villains in hollywood movies to being geeky sidekicks, arrogant but ambitious rivals that come around at the end and help to take down the main foreign villain.

Where penguin can be the main protagonist but other gangsters are introduced in it. I definitely love to see black mask(jon bernthal as him) in it as another big theat like the penguin. Maybe a couple other ones like "the great white shark" and "Roland Desmond" as supporting characters. Could even do a plot twist where Alberto falcone has been pulling all the strings. 2. They could keep going with the serial killer vibe. There's two that come to mind as the main focus (maybe both?). The Calendar Man would definitely be a great choice. They gave him some great detective-style stories. The other choice is Victor Zsasz, in the past they've treated his character poorly. But his stories are very brutal and creepy. He definitely make a good rated-R detective batman movie, similar to "se7en".

I think Dick Grayson would be really good for this Batman. This Bruce still isn't really helping Gotham as Bruce Wayne yet but Dick Grayson could get him here. Have Bruce adopt Dick in the next film and him adopting a child despite not really doing much before isn't too much of a stretch because of Bruce's reaction at the beginning of the Batman when he sees that kid and what he learns about Riddler's origin it's totally believable he'd do it think I've put the kid in a nice house done the nice thing back to being Batman. Be a little neglectful so Dick can figure out Bruce is hiding something and stumble into the Batcave. From there Bruce trains him to be his sidekick but not as Robin yet. He trains him to be just like him but he really hates beig really violent and severely injuring the criminals. Gets the Robin suit at the end of the film saves Batman from the villain helps Bruce beat him without going as overboard with beating people up as Bruce. Have people in Gotham immediately like Robin because he interacts wih them instead of being silent and terrifying. Bruce realises Batman isn't the only way to help Gotham. To further this have the villain be someone like mister Freeze. Nora's dying and his work on the cure got destroyed during the end of the first film. Victor got more desperate to work on the cure and ended up killing people. Alfred and Robin realise that Wayne Enterprises has the resources to help and that could convince Victor to stop. Bruce doesn't think it would work and the focus should be on stopping Victor from killing anyone. Freeze is beating Batman about to kill him. Robin shows up says he knows people at Wayne Enterprises who could help and reveals he woke Nora up and she's ok with his plan. Robins careless as if he's not careful Nora would die but recognises that not everything can be solved with vigilantism and Bruce Wayne has value because it was Bruce Wayne who saved him not Batman. Find a cure for Nora and Victor turns himself in. Bruce realises that it was Bruce Wayne and Dick Grayson who saved the day this time not Batman. Starts helping Gotham as Bruce Wayne. I think this works because the first film had him become a better Batman and it makes sense for the sequel to be him becoming a better Bruce Wayne and I think Robin is a great way to do that. Also Nightwing is DC's best character and not using him as one of the most important characters in a film series is ridiculous to me.
@DAREDEVIL-MANWITHOUTFEAR2 жыл бұрын
See I like this but I'm not a fan of Bruce needing Robin to remind himself he's overly violent. I thought that was part of his arc here where he realized vengeance wasn't working and it only inspired the wrong people who used it as an excuse to kill. Generally speaking, Batman in the comics isn't overly violent and tends to use minimal violence as he quickly subdues criminals. He even tried ensuring Jason doesn't go overboard as he was often pretty violent as Robin (as demonstrated in Under the Red Hood animated film). To add, Batman towards the end of the film stays with that girl and comforts her until the end and this is a big contrast to the beginning where he saves that mugging victim but leaves him scared because his priority at the time was scaring criminals.
@theultimatenerd37672 жыл бұрын
@@DAREDEVIL-MANWITHOUTFEAR this isn't Bruce learning not to be overly violent. He's learnt that already. It's him learning there's different ways to help Gotham than being Batman. Even a Batman who isn't violent is very different than Dick Grayson. Seeing his approach to crime and having a villain Bruce Wayne can stop shows him there are multiple different ways to help Gotham. Which isn't what he learned in the first film. The end of the first film was him actually helping Gotham as Batman after accidentally inspiring Riddler. He still only has his Batman approach. I doubt the next film will have him suddenly quipping with the villains and having full conversations with cops at crime scenes he's just a more positive version of Batman. He still needs the Bruce Wayne part of his character and I think Dick Grayson would help him realise that.

@@DAREDEVIL-MANWITHOUTFEAR yeah that really doesn't make much sense but I'm thinking Bruce is less violent then he was in the first film but still just hits the person until there down. So instead of doing what he does in the first film where he knocks the guy down with a punch and continues to punch him after Bruce walks up and punches the guy until he's down. Robins strategy is use his athletic ability to dodge the attacks and get a couple of lucky hits that knock the guy down without just punching him in the face. Bruce is nowhere near as violent as he was in the first film but still has Batman's fighting style. Robin finds his own that's less aggressive and sometimes thinks there's ways to stop the villain without fighting them whilst that's still Bruce's default solution until Robin proves his style works showing Bruce there's multiple ways to stop crime and one of them is being Bruce Wayne. Doubt this makes much sense but in my head it feels like it follows on from the first film well.

Your pick for Hugo Strange actually helped me finally gel an idea for including my personal sequel pick: Poison Ivy (played by Laverne Cox in my ideal version). Like you suggested, the more metahuman aspects could take if applied in the right way. Hugo Strange could be head Arkham psychologist & instead of genetic experiments, his experiments would all be psychological. He could skirt & run over the line of ethics often with his patients & might get fascinated by the latent abilities of Ivy & her connection to plant life. The voices of her kin crying out after whatever circumstances grant her power could be what drives her to breakdown & be admitted to the Asylum. Despite intuitively knowing that humanity is the cause for the suffering of a lot of the plant realm, her tenuous connection to her human side would conflict with her doing anything about it at first. In comes Strange, probing deliberately at that vulnerability & triggering her ultimate tragic embrace of her desire to be a sword for mother nature using her powers for violence & destruction. With the film's thesis about this being a Batman seeking to be more empathetic of plight rather than just a violent avenger, it could lead to potentially great scenes with Batman trying his hardest to restore that human part of herself & ultimately uncover the covered-up patient abuse going on in Arkham by Strange's hand.

Now that Batman has more faith in Gotham, I think they should have a villain that really tries to rattle him personally. Then, in potential future movies, they could shake up Gotham again with the Court of Owls or something. I really don’t care for another Joker story, to be quite honest, especially if Joaquin Phoenix is coming back to do a sequel for his iteration. I also think it could be really interesting to have a Robin in this universe someday. I honestly don't know what Reeves means when he says he wants grounded villains/takes on the Batman mythos but my first thought walking away from the movie for what villain could be awesome in a sequel was Killer Croc 1) Never been done on the big screen, bar Suicide Squad where he was wearing a hoodie the whole time, barely had any dialogue/characterization proper, and no clear ties to Batman 2) The city is flooded, the epilogue narration seemed to imply that there would be an inevitable territory struggle among Gotham's villains/mobs which would be a great invite/set up for Killer Croc to make moves 3) The character is super malleable, been reinterpreted a thousand times over in comics/cartoons/games with various levels of strength/intelligence/monstrousness. I really think that Reeves could introduce a version of Croc that is agile in the water, taking advantage of the city's current terrain in a way that Batman is inacapable typically, while being strong, intimidating, and just smart enough to organize whats left over in Gotham to establish himself as a threat to Gothamites and the Dark Knight. What's his main motivation, what's his backstory, how monstrous is Waylan (hopefully very), is he Waylan (again hopefully), would he be the big bad of the movie or more of a secondary player a la Sandman in Spider-Man 2? to these questions I have no idea but I personally enjoy Killer Croc and think it would be cool to see him as a proper Batman villain on the big screen.

Having someone like Strange (or Crane, but we already saw him in Batman Begins) working at the Asylum to perform unsavory tests on the inmates fits perfectly with the dark horror-inspired universe as well as the investigative side of the Batman from the first film. what I think warner bros should do, is to silently usher the court of owls into the movie/throughout it and eventually expose them to be the true villain of the movie. Then you can have batman to explore their hide outs and learn about their history and bring the audience along, like POV'S. (also like that batman animated movie where he finds them all dead...) and then you could use the 'Bruce Wayne' character getting into places batman simply couldn't, for example; 'Bruce Wayne' could try to become a more active CEO so he'd have reason to strut around the darker parts of Wayne tower, so then you could explore the more political/Business side of Gotham through boring an old board meetings. (which would be evident by 'Bruce Wayne's tired expressions.) and he'd sit through those so after he could talk with a board member to get access to certain room/room's to try to find old renewal files of sewage systems (to further his investigation, ofc ) and then he could find out that the court of owls are secretly in charge of the renewal fund, and that they've secretly been letting these gangsters take from the pot. so in that way, they would have true dominance over Gotham's organised crime world ("tHRough DA sHADOws") . to summarise: you'd have a more 'gritty' and 'horrific' film than the first one, due to the POV'S in the tunnels. And you could also develop a greater understanding of Gotham through those board meetings and POV'S that find homeless people in bad living conditions (like really bad, like enough to bust out the bat plugs.)

Seeing the look of pure fear on Battinson's face when he thought riddler had figured it out was not only one of the greatest moments of the film, but is something that can really be toyed with going forward. He has just become a beacon of hope for the people - as he intended - and a shattering of his image would instantly undo all his hard work. The tension there writes itself

I always dreamt of Willem Dafoe as the Joker. But not as a main villain in the 'The Batman universe'. I'd see him as a deranged Arkham inmate who was incarcerated early on in Batman's career and occasionally helps Batman with solving crimes because he can think like homocidal maniac. The popular belief is that Batman and the Joker are technically equally crazy which is why they have this strange ambigeous connection with eachother which causes Batman to visit him quite a lot even though he technically already knows the answer to his own question. He simply needs the Joker to realize it. They could have great dialogue based on the comics like Arkham Asylum. Can you imagine Willen Dafoe's gritty voice say things like "if it gets too tough.. there is always a place for you here.."

I think they’re setting up the riddler and joker team up for the third movie if this truly is going to be a trilogy. I think they’ll focus more on penguin and the power grab in the 2nd. Probably throw in another Batman villain to spice it up. Whatever they end up doing after this movie I’m pretty confident with what they’ll do next.

As for Joker, I wanna give credit to the Double Toasted channel for this idea. What if Joker never leaves Arkham, he stays in prison, sort of influencing or manipulating things from there, all the while Batman comes to him, getting more insight on whichever villain he faces in a given movie. That way Joker is still shown and has a bit role, but doesn't take up the main focus or attention and other characters have a chance to shine.

Would be cool to see Killer Croc. Given the amazing prosthetic work done on Colin Farrel, I'm sure they would be able to do Waylon Jones justice! I think he would be a cool antagonist that fits the new Gotham presented to us; given his truly vile and visceral being. Also, since the city recently flooded it means there's a bunch of territory for Killer Croc to exploit. Idk, maybe a Maroni/Penguin conflict where Killer Croc is working for one of them to dent the competition? Mutilated bodies turning up, with links to Maroni/Penguin. Murders connected via flooded subways, sewers etc. Pretty cool case for the worlds greatest detective imo . Batman tracking Killer Croc in a claustrophobic, grimy, aquatic environment lit only by the torchlight he carries! But we mustn't neglect the Penguin either, his rise to power and infamy I think needs to be a crucial element in the next movie. I think Killer Croc manages to keep the element of the fantastical, but still being quite grounded if done well. There are some pretty insane free divers, and Killer Croc could just be a cannibalistic free diver with a skin condition (kinda).

I think it would be cool since they've skipped Batman's origin story, they could do the same with Two-Face. Have Harvey Dent already scarred by an attack by a vengeful Maroni (already arrested, looking to strike back at someone before he rots in Blackgate) back when he was ADA, and now he's taking up the DA mantle with a 'hard on crime' stance that's swiftly becoming more and more tyrannical. Problem is, lots of people in Gotham are folding to his extremism because they don't want to go back to the anarchy or blatant corruption from before. This Two-Face wants to save Gotham but he's going about it with increasing severity, seeing things black-and-white like Bruce did, and now as Batman he has to choose to either join forces with a would-be police-state or remain a vigilante outside the law, with both police and criminals after him. And he could 1.) remain sympathetic because we're seeing him at his lowest trying to claw back to a semblance of normalcy, him genuinely want to do good for Gotham, 2.) be a secondary villain for a larger threat, only to take up the Big-Bad position in the proposed 3rd movie after Batman proves he can't be controlled and made another one of his enforcers, and 3.) finally give us a Two-Face that's a proper threat, instead of an excellent Harvey Dent who burned fast and bright before getting snuffed out.

A genuinely sadistic Black Mask is someone I could see in this universe. Have him move in on the power vaccum left after Falcone's death, hiding his identity, so as not to end up like Falcone. The detective element could be Batman uncovering who's under the mask, and interfering with Sionis' corporate espionage, both as Batman and a more active Bruce.

I want Robin to be featured in these films. He’s an important part of the Batman history and not having him in the Nolan trilogy was disappointing.

i dont want robin to be in any solo batman movie , actually i dont want the batfamily to be a thing at all , if they have to include robin , they could just do teen titans , nightwing , red hood , anything but batman and little robin doing adventures in a serious way , like even in BTAS its was a miracle that thing even worked for a bit , i would love to them to do batman beyond instead

I think we need to move on from Heath Ledger's joker. Yes, maybe he is the best portrayal of the character to date, but we can't gatekeep the character just because Heath died. Because if he was still alive, people wouldn't be so absolute when it came to the next joker. It's something that happens all the time. Either we want it or not, someone will portray joker better one day. Maybe in 100 years or tomorrow, but it will happen. We can't compare the different actors playing the character because each one of them played him differently. Like we can't compare Rob and Christian's batman. Chris' was the playboy type. Rob's is the detective one. So, stop with the bs about joker. Heath will be remembered, but we have to move on.

i agree!! there’s already so many fantastic joker adaptations; mark hamill, heath ledger and joaquin phoenix are the most outstanding ones that come to mind. there’s definitely enough amazing adaptations of joker, so why don’t we get a new adaptation that hasn’t been done!!!

My pick would be Flint Garfield, Firefly, as a redesigned arsonist anarchist, and would be a good switch from having Gotham flooded with water and instead bathed in flame. Usually his motivations are burned out relationships or working for hire, but in The Batman I'd like to think he's bipolar and switches between personalities similar to Batman, where he's Flint by day doing his regular work but by night he releases pent up rage as the firefly. Having him be one of the survivors of Riddler's attack but his girlfriend Cassidy drowned would be an interesting twist on the villains motivations. Burn out crime and poverty, by any means necessary.

Doing Hugo Strange, and creating monsters would be great to segway into the more out there villains you can start simple with someone that would be similar enough to the monster men like Amygdala, or Blockbuster then work your into Man-Bat.

With the partial focus of Drops in The Batman, and what looks like a form of venom that got used, I’d be super interested in seeing a proper iteration of Bane, the cunning, the machismo, maybe as a new face on the drug scene in Gotham? I think that’d be cool

Hugo was one of my picks as well as Victor Zsasz. I think introducing any kind of meta-human to this take of batman might be a bit of a challenge and change the tone of the overall narrative they are trying to do. Of course I'm not saying it's not possible but you would need a really good script.

I think Hush is a great option. They kind of already established the *spoilers*... Elliot family in The Batman as that was the last name of the reported who Falcone killed. Also, a big part of the Hush comic story is that the riddler was running the whole thing behind bars, and he currently is behind bars.

I would like the Ventriloquist. Somewhat still a "realistic" villain that touches the fantastical.
@elfsieben14502 жыл бұрын
I want Zsasz to prowl Gotham City's inundated streets like Jack the Ripper prowled the mists of London's Themse. I want Dr. Harleen Quinzel at Arkham Asylum, assisting the Batman as a profiler in his investigation of Zsasz's murder spree. I want Quinzel to be interested in the Batman for a thesis on the mindset behind vigilantism that she has been writing. I want Joker to eavesdrop / side-glance / snivel around in Dr. Quinzel's office where he gains repeated access by sporadically being interviewed as her pet patient. I want Gordon to investigate Cobblepot's crime network and the ensuing gang wars. I want Batman more as his eyes & muscles than at the forefront of this investigation. I want Bruce Wayne to be more invested in starting a foundation to establish a Gotham City Rehabilitation Center for Drop addicts, looking for social and political support, the right location, knowledge, equipment and staff to get it off the ground etc. I want neurologist and biochemist Hugo Strange to be there, getting involved right from the planning stage. I want Gordon to come across the death of someone who he suspected to work for the Penguin. I want the suspect's killer later to be revealed as his son, having been locked away by his father in an attic for his entire life without any identity, name or outside contact or anyone even knowing of his existence, until Gordon discovers him. I want him to be considered psychotic, deaf and dumb and taken to Arkham Asylum. I want Joker to gain his trust, get him to try and talk/mumble incoherently and almost unintelligbly. Then I want Joker to convince Quinzel to let him give "speech therapy" to the new guy. I want Quinzel to come to the conclusion the killing of his drunken and choleric father was an accident rather than a murder, and (at the suggestion of the Joker) to take her new patient back to his house and to confront him with his trauma on the site after she has stabilised him by means of reenaction and role play, utilising figurines, a dollhouse and hand puppets. I want the patient to recover his speech and sanity so quickly that, after being cleared of being a murder suspect, he becomes an outpatient to Dr. Quinzel in his own home, where she leaves him with his favourite hand puppet as his "new friend who will always protect" him. I want Oswald Cobblepot to take over the entire Gotham underworld in terms of drug running, prostitution, betting, gambling and protection money. I want Killer Croc roaming the sewers of Gotham with frogmen who bring assault rifles, grenades, rocket launchers and explosives into the city, defected from the National Guard. I want Batman to be surprised, assaulted and forced to retreat by Killer Croc and his henchmen during an attempt to destroy one of Oswald's supposed drug labs which turns out to be a hidden armoury of Killer Croc instead. I want the high-ranking National Guard officers to turn a deaf ear to the "conspiracy theory" of any of their men going AWOL and putting in extra work for a private contractor. Abandoned by the Guard, I want the Batman, the Penguin and the commissioned DA to strike a deal brokered by Gordon in order to stop Killer Croc's paramilitia from taking over Gotham. Gordon then builds a joint task force of Penguin's organisation and volunteers from the GCPD. Cobblepot's militia is given deputy status in the fight for Gotham. After several raids, Killer Croc has to retreat, and the National Guard finally intervenes to drive out the last pockets of Killer Croc's loyal resistance and to dissolve Gordon's task force. Oswald, after having beaten Croc and being applauded and celebrated as a daring leader by his henchmen, decides he will focus on extending his business to Bloodhaven next, but first he will need to find another trustworthy accountant for that. "After all, the books don't cook themselves." After Croc's defeat, Zsasz is being caught in an attempt to murder the Penguin and taken to Arkham Asylum where he is sent to the empty cell next to Riddler's. From the other side of the cell Joker asks: So, who is the new guy? After Credit scene: The recently released Arkham Asylum outpatient, bespectacled, wearing a grey business suit, holding his "new friend" and a slightly oversized looking business briefcase in one hand, knocks on the door of The Iceberg Lounge during day time. As the door opens, he says in a timid voice: "Excuse me, Sirs, may I speak to Mr. Cobblepot in person, please? I have a delicate service to offer, which he might be interested in..." So, basically, I want the Ventriloquist to be already set up for the third movie, when martial law is lifted again. By then, his newfound "friend" can have a brand new look - to protecc, to attacc and to be scarred as hecc.

Here’s my dream Batman film series. The next film would feature the rise of some of the more obscure and colorful villains in Gotham with Scarface and the Ventriloquist acting as a new up and coming crime lord that the criminals are looking to in Gotham as a replacement for Falcone in the first film. Killer Croc would act as his enforcer, with Mad Hatter, Weskers therapist, would be acting as the main villain of the movie. Mad Hatter would be envious of Bruce Wayne and Batman, using his mind tech to work his way up the ranks to punish Gotham. Scarface would see Tetch as his therapist and advisor, while Tetch is actually the one in control using them as his puppets. Meanwhile, Bruce would be trying to figure out how to balance his life as Bruce Wayne and Batman, finding it difficult to be Bruce Wayne. I would also introduce Barbara Gordon into the world with Jervis being infatuated with her and her friends. The themes would be identity, fear of oneself, etc. Batman would beat Jervis Tetch sending him and Wesker to Arkham. Part 3 would have the Court of Owls and the introduction of Dick Grayson/ Robin to The Batman world. The Court would be directly involved in the Grayson’s death and Bruce would try to direct the anger in a more stable manner. The villains would be The Court of Owls, but also the return of Penguin, and Killer Croc who would act as a dark mirror for who Robin could become if he were to follow a path of vengeance and violence. At the end of this film we would get one more Joker tease where it’s implied that he has an escape plan. Part 4 would see the Batman vs Joker. They would battle it out, until Batman sends him back to Arkham, where the Joker causes a riot we get a sort of adaptation of Arkham Asylum mixing elements of the graphic novel and game, with the past villains making appearances. The 5th and final film would have Mr. Fries as the main antagonist. Man Bat would be a secondary villain. Robin would become Nightwing, Barbara would become Batgirl, Batman would not die! His story would wrap up with him achieving balance as both Bruce Wayne and Batman, because it’s what he chooses (yes that’s a reference to Batman Forever). Leaving his story relatively open ended for a possible return later on or a complete wrap. It’s a very rough outline and idea, but I think it could work.

I think professor Pyg would be a really interesting villain for them to bring in. He’s a very violent, unpredictable, and insane villain so I think he’d work really well if they wanted to lean into the horror-esque feel of this Gotham.

This is the most excited I've been in awhile for where the Batman franchise could go, but not because I can see where it's going. The most exciting part, in my opinion anyway, is the idea that everything about this batman is based around creating films that feel more intimate and personal than past iterations, putting the audience squarely in Bruce/Batman's head and staying there pretty much the whole time. It's centered around Bruce's emotional journey, and because of that focus on character-driven storytelling as opposed to the plot-driven storytelling of previous Batman movies, I feel like the future of this new Batman could go anywhere, adapting any number of storylines with almost any villain and still be just as intriguing.

Agree with the joker fatigue, let the character breathe a little. Court of owls is very interesting but probably best as a backdrop (kinda like the League of Shadows in Batman Begins). If they ever do joker, hope they go full Serious House on Serious Earth or Joker War. Not sure if Hugo Strange can carry a movie on his own but mixed with something like CoOs it could work. Nic cage would be perfect as Strange

What I would love to see is a handful of movies that focus on a single villain in self-contained stories. Batman has an amazing Rogue's Gallery of under-used villains. Many of whom lend themselves to genres of story we don't really get in modern superhero media - horror, psychological thriller, crime noir, mystery, etc. Batman movies that aren't trying to immediately build up to an epic trilogy, and aren't in a rush to use up all the most iconic villains as fast as possible, could really give some awesome Batman stories room to breath.
