Where Veteran Horses Retire After They’ve Served

The United States Army has horses that are up for adoption. The retiring horses were once part of the Old Guard Caisson Platoon, where they led military funerals, pageants, memorials and parades. When the horses retire, they need a place to go, so the Caisson Adoption Project helps pair them with a perfect home. Here’s how the horse Quincy came to live with George Whitaker, a fellow retired veteran.

The very first horse I ever rode was a Quarter Horse. His name was Pogo and he was a very smart horse. Quincy looks just like him. I wish him and his wonderful human family the best

No they don’t my friends and family are very involved in Quarter Horse Racing which is very different from the Thoroughbred circuit but in both most horses if they perform well go on to be the sires (father) and dams(mother) of the next generation

And did you know horses helped Lewis and Clark get through the Rocky Mountains to get to the Pacific Ocean without then you and me would be nothing
