Unlike bumblebee, I think it actually makes sense that hot rod fought in ww2, considering that he lives with old transformers, I can only assume that hot rod arrived on earth much earlier than bumblebee in the bayverse. And my guess is that after the second world war he decided to retire and found his way to UK, where he meets up with bulldog and the Autobot lieutenant

TLK had so many interesting concepts, I wish they had been explored, instead of the tangled plot we got in the end. Hot Rod was a pretty cool character though, and I always wondered why he never helped Optimus' team if he was on earth the entire time.

Also, I personally like to believe that Vivian’s father held on to Hot Rod and kept him in some sort of garage, with a left wish to pass Hot Rod on to Vivian if something happened to him, which seems to have happened, since other than flashbacks, he does not appear in the film.

8:18 the weapons hot rod was wielding were actually tonfa and sai, tonfas are basically batons but wielded differently while sai are dagger like weapons with three sharp point blades,with the middle one being the sharpest and longest while the other two being short and much blunter. Which is funny consider the fact that hot rod never used those kind of weapons during g1.

For his time gun I saw a perfect fanfic story where some of the transformers series react to the Bayverse. In there Alpha Trion says the weapon belonged to Vector Prime and somehow Hot Rod got into one of his vaults

I like to think that the vehicles that both Bumblebee and Hot Rod briefly used in the World War II were just temporary vehicle modes and when they transformed, the two Autobots instantly reverted back to their preferred military vehicles.

In the TLK featurette Motors and Magic, it is confirmed by the producers during the Hot Rod portion (i.e. the 2 minutes and 55 seconds mark) that Hot Rod originally belonged to Viviane's father.

Neither are blades, or they shouldnt be at least The left are tonfas, which can be used to whack, jab and block The right are sais, which are defense weapons. Most popularized by Daredevil and Raphael from the TMNT

I have a theory on the vehicle modes and why they are different form their robot modes. My theory is that maybe hot rod and bumblebee scanned 2 vehicle mods but I doubt it since they later one use one vehicle mod but I believe so since this also applies to drift having a Bugatti veyron and a helicopter in AOE. But in TLK he ditches the helicopter and instead just scans a Mercedes GTR 2017. That’s my theory but let me know if you guys have a better one

It would have been so cool to see hot rod as a gtr and I think if hot rod was with them then he would eventually get one of drifts blades and become a samurai maybe making his own swords at one point giving him the duel melee weapons I think he would have helped take down onslaught and would have been on the alien ship (don’t remember if he was on there originally ) and would have tried to talk some sense in to prime

Also hot rod and bumblebee might have had multiple forms. Bumblebee could use his Mercedes mode to chauffeur someone special (Churchill) and tank mode for battle. The tank armor appears in robot mode for battle purposes. Boom. You have your answer.

As an alternate theory, I believe the reason why Bumblebee has no recollection of fighting in WWII or meeting Sir Burton is that he was mistaken for Centurion. The misunderstanding is likely due to them sharing a common robot body type. I am suggesting this theory in hopes that it would reconcile the comics and other tie-in media to the films. In case you are unfamiliar, Centurion is a Maximal from the Generation 1 comics published by IDW from 2005 until 2018. In the Revolutionaries series, it is stated that Centurion suffered amnesia when arriving on Earth and was reprogrammed into a duplicate of Bumblebee.
