I retired from the US Coast Guard as an E4 due to a service related injury. Debra and I enjoy traveling around the United States in our Coachmen Beyond Class B motorhome. Along for the ride is our sidekick Spike the Cheagle! Our channel aims to provide you with valuable motorhome tips and tricks, RV life basics, and helpful tips for motorhome beginners. Another great video. I sleep side to side so no need to fill in. I also use a 1” topper although the upgraded cushions on the sofa are very comfortable. Spike had me laughing at the end.

We went the couch route on our first-class B (PW Chevy Lexor). After owning it for a year and 20k miles, the main reason we got rid of it was the bed situation being such a pain at the end of the day and morning. Our current Travato K model is the same setup as the new Beyond rear bath floor plan and we absolutely LOVE! the plan. No fooling with setup or takedown every day twice a day. 2 years with it and no thoughts of changing. As you guys get older, getting out of that bed every time you need to will wear on you fast

This is our third motorhome with the sofa/bed arrangement. I agree, it is bit annoying sometimes getting in and out of the bed. But we really enjoy the sofa set up for sitting and watching TV or eating. When we get up in the morning my job is to stow the bedding while my wife makes breakfast. This works well for us.

Would one person be able to sleep the width of the van and just leave the bed set up all the time? Only use the couch as needed.

It depends on how tall the person is. The bed is 68 inches wide, so if someone is five foot seven or less probably okay. But they could sleep at a slight angle and have a little more room.

Does the electrical system go to auto start if the batteries get too low? I think I read that some B vans have that option. If not, could you add it? It would probably be a function of the inverter. What brand is your inverter?

On the AGM battery models you can set the generator to start when the voltage drops to a set voltage. On the Lithium battery models with the second alternator you would need to start the engine yourself. They use xantrex inverters, 2000 watts on the AGM and 3000 watts on the Lithium model.

Thanks. Question, do you find having 2 split mattress toppers (vs one solid one for the entire bed) troublesome because of the split in the middle? Or do you not feel it? We have one that covers the entire bed but its hard to roll up and put behind the couch.

Some people love having a one piece topper, I have thought about ourselves too. I think it would be just to hard to roll up and store, but I have not tried that yet. Having two small ones work great for us.

You have a nice RV. You’re probably one of the premier owner-that have a KZbin channel. That covers the Coachmen Beyond LI3. Iam considering to get one similar however I wanted to know the off grid performance of the LI3 . If you run your A/C overnight how long can you use it before it recharge? Thanks for your input.

The hotter it is outside the more power the AC uses. It can range from 60AH to 100AH, so it's kind of hard to say how long it will run. I don't like to go below 100AH on my batteries, so if it is really hot out you can get maybe 5 hours. If it's just hot out you might get 7 hours out of it.

Our AC works pretty good, it keeps us comfortable. It doesn’t really drop the temperature fast, but it does cool. I would probably get the Coleman AC if I bought a new Beyond.

@@CampingCoastie does the Coleman works better ? I am about to buy a beyond with a 12 volt AC but I have heard that 12 volts AC are not very efficient.

Thank you this was very helpful. How long is the middle section of the bed with just the one board/table put in? We were thinking of getting the 22D (twin bed on each side, but they are narrow 23"-which we don’t understand why so narrow when the Rear Bath’s twin bed are 28" wide). Is there more storage under the twin bed in 22D or is it used for batteries and/or water tank? Do you make your bed up each day or leave it made up once on a road trip? Will you show how the back of the sofa cover stays attached in the back of the sofa-or did we miss that video? Your wife does a professional looking job on the bench cushions with zippers, all of it is very nicely done. Thanks again for all you are sharing.

Does anyone feel the 22D has more advantages or disadvantages than the 22C? Having trouble deciding.

22D, freshwater tank inside. You can use the back doors to go in and out of. The seats are mattresses, not seat cushions unlike in the the 22C where they're seat cushions.

I still prefer the 22C, I am comfortable sitting on the sofa and enjoy the better headroom height inside.

How does the bed comfort compare to the Pleasureway that you previously owned?

I would say about the same, but the PleasureWay was a bit nicer. We have always used roll up memory foam toppers. That way we have bedding/bottom sheet. Then we just each have our own blankets. With our toppers I think they feel pretty much the same.

@@CampingCoastie I really like the idea of the lithium batteries, DC Frig and DC air conditioner and the Ford transit chassis, especially with the 2020 improvements like the ability to turn the drivers seat. Do you find these items important? Thank you.

Turning the driver's seat is not that important to my wife or myself. When sitting we use the sofa in the rear. We end up storing stuff on the front seats that we don't need at the time. Great place for dirty clothes hamper on the driver's seat. The lithium batteries, 12 volt refrigerator and AC are wonderful! The Ford has plenty of power, easy to drive and cost a lot less to have serviced.

Yes, except for the windows, there are just glass windows. Coachmen is now offering insulated rear door panels on the Beyonds as an option.

No problem. But my wife always used a spray cleaner and then wipes dry the shower. She then put a fan in the bathroom. This is the same process she does at home too.
