Where Were You? Host: Karl Wells

This month (November 2023) marks the 60th anniversary of the assassination of U.S. President John F. Kennedy. In 2009 Karl Wells wrote a front page feature for The Telegram (NL’s daily newspaper) where people told him how they reacted to the news that day. In 2023 he came across one of the old audio tapes with three of his original full interviews. They were with Greg Malone (actor/author), the late Ron Pumphrey (radio talk show host/author) , and the late Chief Justice T. Alex Hickman (lawyer/politician/judge). They make interesting listening.

On November 22nd. in 1963, I was 9 years old & was home sick for the day. I was watching TV when a news flash with Walter Cronkite on CBC came on. He was emotional & I can hear his words in my mind to this day. I immediately alerted my mother, who was in the kitchen washing dishes & her reaction was like a close family member had died. This date is also my birthday as well as my wife's birthday. We were both married on Nov. 22nd as well. Weird coincidence but there it is.
