This summer will have about no poker, but it will have a lot of dealing poker. I'm dealing the summer poker series at The Orleans on W Tropicana in Las Vegas, Nevada. The 2024 Orleans Summer Open is the official name. Here are my tales.

Just got back from 10 days of Vegas and just caught up on the videos. This is very interesting to me to hear about your experiences as a dealer. We went to Orleans our last night in town (Sunday, June 23) to play some Omaha High Low. You pushed in on Table 6 (I was in seat 2). I said “Yo, Rice” as you were waiting for the previous dealer to finish the hand and you gave me the nod. I would have engaged you in some King of Queens trivia or other vlog related subjects but you seemed quiet and focused on the task at hand so I didn’t. Have a good summer of dealing. Can’t wait to hear more stories. Oh, also, what a grind Omaha HL is - after a couple of hours, I broke dead even, but had fun doing it.

Aria was excellent for down rates last year. And, only 8 hour shifts. So you could work at aria in the morning and then orleans at night. And at the WSOP when you are off at both places.

Nice update. Best parts for me was first hearing more about the proliferation of altertnative sub-tournaments "summer series" (kind of like the minor leagues) to fill in whenever a player is either priced-out of the bigger wsop buy-ins or busts out. Second, really, really good to see you able to stay calm and go with the flow dealing what is required, like filling in for the dealer who was freaking out over the split-pot complexities. The show must go on. I'd like to hear more about housing. Like how is the airbnb availability and pricing, and is there an available forum (Craig's list or whatever) for splitting housing with other players. Stay peaceful and keep that great chuckle going on the daily. 💯

Just watched an interesting vid on Vega Airbnb rules and saw that they are strictly limited and licensed UNLESS they are for 31 days and longer, and are not considered "short-term rentals." So looks like the best deals (price and availability) would be to rent for 31-plus day periods during the May thru July months. Interesting.

@@cpataxpro I lived in Airbnbs in Vegas from Oct of last year to March of this year. You can pretty much find whatever you want for reasonable prices compared to other cities. The factors I always searched for would be wanting my own bathroom, having it be relatively quiet(not a ton of people sharing the space) and making sure there was kitchen access. Generally want a little distance from the Strip as the closer you go, the neighborhoods are worse, the rooms are smaller and things are noisier

@partyry11 Thanks!! I went to the site and see a bunch of reasonable daily rates below $50 when you rent month to month. As you know,as a poker player I really just want a place to sleep and shower and am gone so I don't need "amenities." Good info, the Airbnb website is great, ty. 👍

Being a cash game dealer mainly, it's my personal preference. However, when I worked the WSOP, I prefer tournaments you get a lot of pros who know what they're doing so the game flow is far efficient (i.e more hands dealt and less issues) Unlike dealing high Buy in tournaments, the lower buy in you're dealing with a lot of newbies who don't know what they doing and the games are much slower, almost feel like you have to babysit. I remember dealing a 3K 6-Max during the WSOP, and it was the easiest 8 hours

Nugget doesn't have employee parking. If you drive you have to pay for a spot somewhere.

Diesel, you should see the latest and greatest comments in the 2+2 poker vloggers forum. It's a zoo in there, let me tell you. There are a lot of "explain-it-alls" in there who do exactly that whenever you confront them about anything. Some will bark back, "oh we just want him to play better so he will make more money and not struggle." They'll rip you to shreds in the process, but it's all from "the goodness of their hearts". Sure it is.. I can't think of a vlogger they haven't torn into on in there. Everyone's a target. Apparently they have an issue with Lexy Gavin and Lynne the asian player who used to be on HCL and I believe Live at the Bike.

That's the problem with rumors. If you want the real skinny Nomad you have to talk to a WSOP DC (Dealer Coordinator). Otherwise it's he said/she said and rarely is the truth found. From what I understand this year, plenty of hours to be worked but got to choose the right shift, and plenty of money to be made. Got to run. Don't so quickly dismiss the WSOP as a place to make coin dealing in a short amount of time, although sounds like Orleans Open is working well with you. Cheers.
