A good trick to finding cashmere and wool is shop vintage actually! They used to use a lot more natural fibers in the 80's and 90's and most thrift stores are stocked up on wool coats and sweaters. Just check for moth holes :)

Great video! A couple of thoughts: I’m very tiny, 4’11” 92lbs, and I *do* usually carry small bags to avoid looking like ‘Santa’s little helper.’ 😉 However, sometimes I need to carry a bag big enough to fit my larger iPad Pro (the size of a small laptop). I’ve found that large bags with a north/south, vertical profile dwarf me less than large bags that run east/west; at least they keep the eye focused on a vertical line, rather than cutting me in half visually. I’ve all but stopped buying knits are are fabric blends (unless it’s a bit of Lycra in thin fabric) because they usually pill easily and soon become trash. I’m focusing more on 100% merino and 100% cashmere. A stretch for my budget, but well worth it when considering how much longer those items will last. Blends also *cannot be recycled,* so they will eventually end up in a landfill. Also, a big “Thank you!” for reminding us *not* to be limited by the expectations and criticism of others! I am in my mid-sixties and found myself a bit lost, style-wise, about 10 years ago. With my children grown, and leaving my job, too, I suddenly felt as if I had lost my sense of who I was. I spent some time reassessing my wardrobe, what I felt inspired by, which looks just made me feel as if I’d disappeared, and then set out to reintroduce more fun and interest to my closet. In particular, I added edgier pieces that better reflect my personality. If someone thinks I’m too old for black leather and combat boots, *that’s their issue,* not mine! 😎 Getting dressed should be joyful and that doesn’t have to change when we reach some arbitrary age. I love your infectious enthusiasm, it always lightens my mood! And I appreciate that you incorporate vintage/thrifted items, rather than encouraging over-consumption. ❤️

Some of us are allergic to wool. I still stay warm and just wear an underlayer and live in the northeast. The battery operated sweater de-pillers should be used gently on fabric. The wool percentage is important! I had a thin 100% Marino wool sweater that I wore for years doing long bike rides in the winter. Marino wool is machine washable! It kept me warm even when wet and speeding down hills! Love the faux croc boots, but I need lower heeled boots! I do wear a lot of black, gray and olive! It looks great with my skin tone! Jewel tones looks good on yours! Yes, I've stopped buying fast fashion! I had clothes that were more expensive and ones that were cheap. I hate the cheap because they don't last! They fade, fray, don't fit right, stretch out of shape with just a few washings! Clothes that are made with care last a long time and always make you look good when you wear them! Good video! Thanks!

Same here in Colorado! Athleisure crap everywhere I go; even when I dare venture out to fine dining. Here, wearing a shoe vs say Chaco’s (a sandal, also worn to hike in 🙄) is dressing up, & I AM OVER IT!! Everyone looks exactly the same, as well as overly casual. I’m in official rebellion; I “dress” even to grocery shop or run to the wine store. It’s just TOO SAD to hv curated a beautiful closet (I’m in my 50s)-& let these lovely pieces hang, untouched. You’re right; you just feel BETTER w/ a nice/good quality jacket or pair of shoes/boots on! Viva la Good Clothes‼️❤️🔥🔥👍🏽 (I absolutely adore Karen-she’s inspirational !💕)

@@annkat100 Ha! Do you live in Durango, by chance? 😂. Because that’s exactly what is going on here as well. Athleisure wear out all the time, and basically a casual/“I don’t care” look going on with both locals and tourists. A huge pet peeve of mine is seeing people dressed like slobs when they go into a nice restaurant! I’m also in my 50’s, and have a ton of nice clothes that I’ve usually purchased from the local thrift stores and often tailored to fit me better. Sadly, I don’t have much opportunity to wear them because the part-time job I have is in a small retail shop geared towards tourists where I’m sitting most of the time. But I always wear jewelry and nice jeans/shoes if nothing else 🤷🏻♀️. I do love being able to wear my lovely trench coat and ankle boots and cozy sweaters when it gets cooler (like now 😀).

You cracked me up with cross on the vent 😃😃. I did that a few times only because my behind protruded too much so I left it crossed lol.

Haha! Wearing an oversized white button-up today. Not sure why wearing white after Labor Day ever became a fashion ‘Don’t” since white button ups are a timeless classic!

Good ratio of wool in the winter is such a good tip, and also look to vintage as recently got a 90% wool St michael's M&S navy long peacoat for £25!

#4 - I’ve told at least four people (three random strangers and one colleague that I can remember) about the X thread in their jackets this southern hemisphere winter! I usually go with the “I love your new jacket. Do you realise the vent basting thread is still there?” approach.

Good way to tactfully say it

Such good advice and such fun! I'm completely with you on the wool and investing in coats and boots in the cold.

Yeah those shavers are a necessary tool to keep your knits looking tip top condition. It funny that some sweaters are in the thrift shop and overlooked because of peeling. I buy them once they hit the dollar rack and put my lint shaver to it and looks like new. I would like to find a rechargeable one tired of having to look for batteries at inconvenient moments. I have started putting away my summer items and I hesitated on packing my white items just yet because I am wearing white after this labor day. I am hoping I can get back into my high heel boots. Still dealing with arthritis that develop from a foot injury last year, so trying to work it out. I going to try for keeping unexpected vibrant colors in my outfits this year to lighten my mood during deep Fall/Winter. Yeah that is why I thrift now because I can get great quality for a bargain prices. This is how I got my genuine leather pieces. Not investing in faux leather items again because they are not holding up to the wear or storage. You served it up good in this video. Thanks for sharing and blessing to you and all in the days to come
