I don’t know who came up with the rule that if not routinely wearing or using a item you must get rid of it. I keep any thing that brings me joy whether I wear or use it routinely. I keep items I love and wear or use them when the spirit hits me. I am not putting the rule down, just my opinion.❤️❤️❤️

Yeah, sometimes if you just cycle it out of the rotation for a year or two, you come back to it and are like DANG that was great. I should wear it again. I have a whole spare closet for things I'm not feeling but don't want to dump. If you have the space it's better to keep a well edited closet for each season and a bit more in "storage."

This video struck many chords with me. Two comments: (1) Try the Chloé bag this fall and then decide to keep/sell. (2) My biggest fashion mistake was trying to have “the right pieces” according to the capsule wardrobe aficionados. It took me way too long to realize that style is personal choice above all else. My fashion mistake was trying to dress like my coworkers when I first entered the workplace. I felt like I was playing a part and wasn't as confident (and definitely wasn't pulling it off). My style might not fit what's expected in my field but I am much happier dressing like myself.

I’m guilty of the black thing. I reach for black clothes constantly, like it’s a uniform, but I really should branch out. Another thing is HAIR. I pretty much wear the same hair every day, but I could stand to try different styles to go with different looks. Hair style can really make a look POP!

I am constantly going through my closet and clean it out, BUT sometimes you need to keep certain items (especially classic expensive ones), and re-think. You seem to be on the fence, anyway - so keep it! I am much older than your demographic and, believe me, I wish I had kept lots of stuff from the past!

Hi Karen since your color style has revolved, keep the Chloe. It's a beautiful jewel tone and I'm sure you will hook it up with something else you can wear with it. Besides I agree with Myrtle below, who set the rule if you haven't worn it regularly get rid of it? For you to have the reaction you did about getting rid of it, shows you still love it. So keep what you love no matter how long its been since you've worn it.

It always amuses me how excited you get when you figure out how great things would pair together. Did you not try styling it w/your outfits? You should keep that chloe bag,its a classic shape and great colour that goes w/everything.wear the ganni dress w/it and yes the loewe belt would toughen up that ganni dress. Or take it to a tailor and shorten it. Give it new perspective.

Interesting perspectives on the black “uniform.” I periodically try to branch out of my predominantly black wardrobe and find myself intensely uncomfortable in colors and patterns. Not because I’m trying to hide or recede into the background but because I feel like I’m BEST seen when my clothes are not what grabs people’s attention. (I’ve successfully branched out to navy, brown, and cream 🤣)

I suggest to take a photo of the entire outfit with the Chloe bag so you'll get outfit ideas that work well with the bag. Sometimes, we feel like we don't gravitate towards an item we used to love just because it doesn't fit our current wardrobe. I honestly love the jewel tones combo for fall as well and that outfit with the Faye bag is perfection! Give it another try for fall!

I think you should keep the boots. Put them in a more accessible spot in your closet. Plus, I heard that Western style boots are making a big comeback this Fall. You truly live that blue Ganni dress. karen, i procrastinate a lot as well and i am definitely inspired by hearing someone so successful guilty of the same bad habit. i personally do not find a lot of Black women in the grunge/alternative/goth sector of the fashion world and i fell in love with your style back in 2009 because it was edgy, rock-inspired and also had some bohemian elements but i didn't see them all thrown together perfectly on a Black woman (i definitely saw it on rumi neely/fashion toast but she's obvs not Black) i think i've finally refined my style and honed in more on what i love thanks to women like you and want to share it. thanks for forcing me to give myself my own kick in the ass. Black is the most over-rated color in fashion. I love faded black jeans, black velvet (textured) anything and eyeshadow or nail polish, but yeah the all black uniform is mostly boring and a crutch people use to keep from expressing themselves. You're so gorgeous in bright color it's a CRIME you didn't wear it.
