Im suprised you were so candid about the where - abouts of these campsites most all channel you tube and even you two dont generally give specific locations. @larryfregin2859 it's a delicate balance and one we are keenly aware of. On one hand, one of our primary motivations with this channel is to inspire people to get out and explore. On the other hand, great campsites have been utterly over-run and trashed in the past when their locations have been widely broadcast on social media. We, and many other 'overland' creators I know of and speak with feel like its a bit of a no-win situation. Share sites and people will get mad. Don't share sites and people will get mad. It just is what it is I suppose. Anyway, we appreciate your support and kind words!

You are absolutely correct I grew up in Seattle in so many of the places that I used to camp have been thrashed and blocked off by the state along rivers so on and so forth

Love finding the sites you recommend... However... Just got home from a day trip looking around for that fall foliage site. DUDE! The Subaru was not having it in this wet weather. The ruts were insane and the 2' deep potholes made so many roads impassable. Fun day but no luck on finding that river spot!

Today, my dog and I went and found the first campsite in your last video above Baker Lake. As it turns out, i had been up that road before, but never that spur to the campsite with that great view of Mt. Baker. My car at the time would have never made it as it was too low to the ground. Now my built 4runner has no problem with those types of obstacles. I plan on going back to Stampede Pass area as we discussed in your previous video's comment section. Now, being a few days into October, our days are very numbered to get up there.

Great video I just went over stamped pass today from 90 over to Greenwater and will have to say the north side of the trail has a lot of rocks on the road. I would say a vehicle with some clearance would be advised and also driving with their headlights on. If you’re driving just through figure, it will be a 2 1/2 hour trip. One way at lease take your time lot of good view up there

Head up Sr 542 the Mount Baker highway almost to the top at the ski area, take White Salmon road two or three miles to its end, it is the most incredible dispersed camping spot you will ever see! I promise, The view itself is absolutely worth it even if the spot is already taken,There's still time, I've been up there at the end of november. There's a good chance no one will be up there on a weekday at this time of year, if it's taken Twin Lakes is an awesome alternative it's absolutely incredible in its own right. Hannigan pass is awesome also.

@@TheProjectMix if it is still open (I believe the gate closes on November 1st) continue past the ski area to the end of Sr 542, it ends at artist point which is where the outdoor and hunting scenes for the movie The Deer Hunter were filmed. If anything it's more incredible than the spot at the end of White Salmon road and is very popular for wedding shoots, every time I've been up there there has been a wedding party or two taking photographs. Many people go up to the parking lot at artist point to watch the sunset then stay in their car or tailgate in the parking lot all night to watch the sunrise, it's one of the most incredible places to do that in the world.

@@dabbking for great all-around hiking fishing camping exploring Old logging roads etc I recommend the mountain loop highway which starts in darrington and goes through to granite falls. Big 4 ice caves are incredible and a relatively easy hike. For great views you have to explore the logging roads branching off of the main mountain loop highway, there are some great ones I cannot remember any specific though. Another I would recommend is Sauk mountain road it's between Rockport and concrete and goes up to the Sauk mountain trailhead, unless it has been blocked off since I've been there you can go beyond that and there are incredible views of Mount Baker and great places to camp, take bug spray. Also Jackman Creek road a little farther down 20 towards concrete.

Those spectacular mountain top sites are great in the middle of the day, but can get very cold and windy at night! We were backpacking in Goat Rocks once and found a great site. We were cowboy camping - no tents! - and we nearly froze to death!

Nah. Any stock 4x4 will be more than enough. Even a crossover with a little bit of ground clearance would be fine for *most* of the roads up here. Some spur roads & offshoots can get a little rough, but for the most part it's pretty easy FS roads

Assuming it's not snow covered, almost all of it should be accessible without 4WD. Only exceptions might be a few of the rougher spur roads / side trails

I appreciate your video but the name of the mountain or GPS coordinates would be great, especially since you have your directions wrong. At 8 minutes 30 seconds you say that lake Keechelus is to the west. I looked on google maps and the lake is to the north. This is based on the shape of the lake and Cathedral Pass and Mount Daniel in the background. Keep in mind that I 90 runs NW to SE in this area. Feels like this is a content commercial.

You "appreciate" the video, yet you wrap up your comment with an insult? Ok then. I don't share coordinates to campsites on purpose. I've discussed my reasoning extensively in other videos and comments, so I won't get into it here. But I get it, some people feel entitled to having coordinates handed to them versus putting in the effort themselves to find spots. Ironically, it sounds like you put in enough work to figure out I made a mistake in the video. I bet if you had spent another minute or so looking at satellite imagery (instead of posting a comment sh******* on my video), you could've figured out exactly where it is. Oh, and I have an entire video sharing exactly how I go about finding campsites like this one. Give it a watch if you care to learn how to find spots for yourself. P.S -- If I seem a little salty, it's because I am. This comment pushed some buttons.

Looking at at some of these replies, it's hard to find a dispersed place that hasn't been trashed or there are some idiots who come in the middle of the night and yell, scream and leaving garbage. We stayed at a place in the Olympics and a father let his daughter and 2 friends drive around and they got a flat tire and no spare, long story short, they were walking and my wife said that I need to see if they needed help, so I did and they were not old enough to drive and her dad was 15 miles away and no cell service. I took her to a spot that I knew I got service and she was able to call her mom that was at home. SCARY! I never got a thank you from the parents, just the cops coming up and checking us out and leaving. What would you do? We would NEVER let our kids do that at that age, in a place like that.

As long as there is no snow, I would say 4WD is not necessary for most of the more 'main' fs roads & spurs out there. A little ground clearance would be advisable though

No. We used to go up there in 77 Pontiac station wagon in high school. But, you have to go when weather permits. Today a 1/2 ton 2WD truck is more than sufficient with their ground clearance. If you want to go up to and across the Stampede Pass all the way to Auburn, a 4X4 is a good insurance policy. Leave that stock Subaru at home.

Just found your channel and subscribed. Unfortunately my biggest concern is the rude or dangerous people and then I just leave. If you find a lovely but trashed campsite, clean it up best you can and enjoy it. I watch another channel based in Minnesota and that is exactly what he does and demonstrates how he cleans out fire pits (including any ammo!), broken chairs, coolers, beer cans and even weed whacks if overgrown! He sets a good example, grumbles a bit then sets off to enjoy it. It is everywhere. Some channels don't want to show the dirty stuff, and want everything to be instagram perfect (which is never reality), but I think the opposite is better when you set a good example. By everyone keeping sites cleaner, you will stand a better chance to avoid the site being shutdown which we have seen in so many places. I don't want or expect coordinates and can do the research easily enough with what you have provided. Well done producing this and Thanks again.

Agree 100% with the importance of discussing and showing good camp etiquette. Generally, when I come across trash at camp I'll mention it in a video and try and cleanup as best I can. Honestly though, we've had pretty good luck this summer with relatively clean campsites. As a general rule, the closer to town you camp, the more trash (and rude people) you have go contend with. Go further out / more remote and that tends to be less of an issue
